New version: PokerHands beta 7 [2008-12-07]

Download [2.74 mB]

This new version introduces a lot of new stats:
  • Raise/3/4 bets
  • Check/raise
  • Float bets (Five Card Draw excluded)
  • Continuation bets/2nd & 3rd barrels
  • Donk bets

Also, every game now has a "hands" tab allowing you to browse the latest imported hands

This version was meant to be a big update for Hold'Em, well Hold'Em now has a "positions" tab to see how well you're doing from

different positions.

This will be extended to Badugi and Five Card Draw as soon as I'm settled as to how to group the hands.

Last but not least, Fozzy gave me a deck of cards, which I included with this release. It looks awesome so it's now the default

deck

Note: You'll have to create new db to use this new version.

What's next:
- Triple Draw will be quickly included if I can find a good (and free) low 7-2 hand evaluator.
- HUD!

Yep, this behavior has changed since beta 6. All of this will be changed with the hud and live import

It seems my PH got the flu. Approx two days ago the importer went crazy. It hung up on the last 5 or 6 HH's. It wouldn't process them and just hung there. I would have to click on "stop". Then, the whole program would lock and terminate. Tried over 10 times to get it to work...nothing worked.

So, when I saw that beta 7 was now available.. I d'l and installed it, after uninstalling the previous version. It appeared to install fine. I opened the program and a warning box popped up saying, "you have a corrupt XML config file. You should not alter config files on your own."

Huh??? I chose to "continue" and everything I tried doing came up with the same error. It suggested I uninstall and reinstall the program. I did that 5 times and the error keeps coming up. In frustration, [it was 3am ] I just uninstalled the whole thing. I give up. I surrendor!!!

Which XML file and how can I replace it with a good file if I don't know which file to replace?

FYI, I am running Vista, but it was working fine and I added/changed nothing on the computer.

The hud will work with all supported games. I can't give an ETA for this though, because I'm not a win32 guru and programming a hud involves using a lot of the crappy Windows API (you don't want to know about all the crap Microsoft has been stacking since win 3.1, which you still find in XP/Vista, trust me )

The bug you mention about the importer becoming crazy is corrected in beta 7.
Now about your XML file being corrupted, I think this is somewhat another vista issue because I redled/reinstalled and everything went fine. I suggest that you uninstall PokerHands, then delete the config.xml if it's still in your program files\pokerhands folder, then reinstall. Don't forget to setup it to run as administrator.
config.xml was updated to support the new stuff introduced in beta 7. Most likely, something weird happened when you installed the beta 7... On XP I just overwrite everything and it's working fine. Damn vista
If you still can't have it running, this is the default config.xml:

I did all your suggestions.. it didn't work

Did it exactly the same a 2nd time... it didn't work

Did it a 3rd time, exact same way.. It worked!!

Damn Vista... oh, and have others be sure that they run both the installer AND the extracted exe file as administrator to make it work properly. Thanks for the help.

May I assume that the HE tournament stats still are not working correctly? Mine show 68 tournaments, no buyin, nothing won $0..

It seems to be importing all the free-rolls, which I am quickly eliminating. It appears to pick up sng's, but not the buyins or amount won, yes, I do win some.

Without having to re-import all our files and delete the database again, what good are those stats. And, maybe it's just a quirk of mine, but in the hands and tournament stats, it's all showing "money" won as relates to the "tournament chips", not the end result of the cash I won, or didn't win in some cases

Guess all the answers will depend on whether the tournament stats are finalized at this point... if not, nevermind.

Installation was easy and the re-import took in 30,000 hands without any problems.

The new player summary stats, with the full descriptions, are a big plus. Also, the session stats appear to group multiple tables/limits played within a certain timeframe. Excellent!

The default grouping has the most recent session at the bottom of the list and there's no timestamp column to re-sort it. Is there any way to get the most recent session to appear on top?

It's working in fact. It's just that it doesn't determine the results automatically. Double click on a tournament to edit the results. It's painful so don't do it, PokerHands will be able to read things automatically in the future. Just try to input something and you'll see your ROI and graph being calculated

Yes that's a new behavior I introduced and I forgot to mention it. Sessions are now grouped by timeframe (every hand played with +/- 10min of another session is grouped with this session) rather than by tables.
there's no timestamp column to re-sort it Err... You're right. I forgot to add that column. I'll correct that
Also sorting them by timestamp desc by default would be better indeed: you wouldn't need to scroll down every time.

Thanks for all the hard work. At times it seems we are complaining, but it is all in the spirit of helping, both you and ourselves. My only disappointment will be the lack of Omaha hi/lo which is very popular and no one makes a good tracker for that, not even, IMHO, PT3 which they don't have Omaha, just an "old" version.

Any HH's you need for Omaha, when/if you include it, let me know, or anything I can help with on testing.

I've been following this and it's working good for me so far. It really lacks a hud and some basic filtering features though.

I now show two databases since installing b7 version. I highlighted the original and clicked on delete and nothing happened, other than it told me it was not compatible with this verson.

I opened pgAdmin on the postgres and it only allows me to delete the server. So how will i get rid of the bad database (no longer usefull 1st one), or for that matter I will be deleting the current one when the tournament imports start including money won/lost. I assume I will have to create a 3rd one and delete the previous two.

How do I delete them, other than the "uninstall" of the whole program?

Also, the player screen is really messed up, at least on my screen. (22inch Samsung). It has the whole table slid far left on the screen and is showing what appears to be a second table (partial) on the right hand side. The 4th card doesn't show, and names are not readible. If there is more work to be done, just slap me up side of the head and I'll wait for the fine tuning. Remember, I'm old and slow.

You can delete a db with pgAdmin by rightclicking on it without opening it end selecting delete on the popup menu. Okay I'll make that "delete" button works in the next version; it's not hard to implement ;o

I'd love to see a screenshot about this because I have a 22" samsung too and I hope this is not yet again another effing vista issue.

I've been having probs with uploading screen shots, wish me luck. After closer scrutiny, it appears that the PH player is "tiling" the screen. I see the partial on the right AND barely see another partial on the lower part of the screen. Once I blew up the pic and stared at the background, I can definitely see the pattern is "tiling", if that helps.

On a separate note, may Foz can jump in on this one, I'm not as familiar with all the abbreviations used on the poker trackers. I know VPIP, cuz that's used a lot. Could someone explain what these are, and maybe what kinds of numbers I should be looking for as proper goals.

You are runnin hot, but [x] small sample size. I dont really think anyone 'knows' yet, what good numbers are for badugi. I am runnin about 25/10 (VPIP/Pre-Draw Raise).

what the hell went wrong with your replayer? Damn this strange behavior is so annoying
Can't tell what's going wrong here, I need to test PH on more computers hoping to have that bug to correct it...

Btw I'm making huge progress with the hud. I finished the complex c++ dll part (Many thanks to the guy at codingthewheel for his code on pokerbots) but this was totally worth it as I'm directly reading the windows messages from PokerStars/Full Tilt, which is way more accurate than trying to check the windows every 500ms/1000ms. I'm displaying ppl seated so far so retrieving stats from the db shouldn't be much more difficult ;o

The thing is, people are now expecting top notch huds with popup menus, full customization, etc. This is going to take a looooot of time to bring the hud to that level.

We're not expecting that. Really!
Anything to get some useful stats on the the screen will be a great improvement to what we have now. The bells and whistles can come later.

On a serious note, why not replace the background on the replayer with something with less clutter? I've used this background for years for the "eye soothing" bonus. Feel free to steal it. Gray texture will highlight all the rest of the replayer well.

Well the thing is it's better to see big from the beginning. Because then you're stuck with some parts you need to rework a lot

1meandog4u> When I'll have the time to add skinning to the replayer (after hud and triple draw maybe), you'll be able to choose whatever you want ;o

Anyway, some work in progress screenshots:

I think it's not going to be bad

I've only implemented hold'em for PokerStars atm and a lot of stuff is inactive. I'm not sure if I should release a potentially buggish intermediate beta version or wait more for the full thing I'm planning for beta 8
