In the thread for PlaceMint there was an interest in my Opener program. The original thread is stuck in the archives, so I'm starting a new thread were people can talk about the program.

The Opener is a fully customizable window that allows the user to select a variety of user defined applications to launch (or files to open) at once. The user has the option to have any number of Radio groups and one group of Checkboxes.

To get the source and other information on the program go to The Opener's page.

EDIT: The original thread did not make the transition from the old forum for some reason... Please read through it for more details / potential problems already solved, questions answered etc.

Can't you just do this with a batch file? Sorry, not to say anything bad about your program or anything, just seeing if this is what the program is essentially doing.

If every time you want to launch everything, sure. But if you play more than one site or some times just want to open two things instead of the whole gamete of scripts and programs you use, then The Opener is useful. It's also easier to add a new script or edit one of the options in a window then looking at straight text.

I LOVE THIS SCRIPT. I have been using it for almost a year now.

This is my current setup:

I could have organized it a bit better, but it works pretty well as is.

This is fantastic and will save much time, especially since I'm playing on a bunch of sites and using HEM & PT3 plus a handgrabber. Many thanks. Much easier to use than the other AHK scripts I've tried to use so far. It must be idiot proofed! Actually, the Readme file is a tremendous help.

Any way of putting Party in it with that stupid shortcut system, I can't seem to be able to get it to start- very nice programme.

Party shouldn't be any different than any other program. Find a Party shortcut on your computer and make sure you are selecting that same application to start Party.

Party is a little different than most, since it is opened via commandline switch rather than a straight exe - but as TheIrishThug suggests, just check out a Shortcut to get the correct method.

I used to have a text doc that had a list of everything I needed to open before I started playing. I would go through one by one and open everything in order (the files were all over my computer).

So obv The Opener

I love the script, really useful!
One thing I couldn't figure out so far is how to create several checkbox groups? I can create more then one radio group, but how can I do this for checkboxes?

You can't, afaik.

That is correct, only one checkbox group. Since more checkbox groups would only effect the organization, I didn't implement it. You could try making the checkbox group 2 rows and positioning the items that way so they show up in "groups" that way.

I don't understand how to set this up.

Is it supposed to open a program when I check the checkbox for that program?

It's not doing anything for me.

Yes. You set up all the things you would want to start up under Edit Setup. Then you select the items you want to run and click Ok.

Some one else had a problem that you might have run into, so I'll post the explanation in the thread. What did you use to set the WinTitle field?
The WinTitle is used to prevent a 2nd instance of a program to be opened. So Opener checks to see if there is a window with that title before launching a program. If a window has this title, that window is activated and the program is not launched. If WinTitle is left blank, this check is not performed.

If that doesn't help you, let me know so I can look at your specific situation.

Doh!

I thought just checking the checkbox would do it.

Also, I'm currently writing a program that will open the opener.

I have an AHK script that is always running to run a bunch of little hotkeys and such. One of those is a hotkey that opens The Opener.

Brag: My latest set up for starting my poker session, selecting my background images for Mod Manager, and choosing which deck and chip installers to run.

I actually have 3 different iterations of my poker launcher now.
