New version with PT3 support is up:

http://home.haugnett.no/minusev/ValueCheck.zip

This version should also fix the bug where the 'enable' check boxes for lost/won $ were reversed.

For PT3, go to the 'Configuration' tab and select the 'Poker Tracker 3' button. The default values for a PT3 database will be autofilled, so if you have different values, update these (and click 'save') before continuing.

After that, the program should work the same as explained in the OP.

While PT3 seems to work from the limited testing I've done, please (as with the HM version) keep the session window open and keep an eye on the numbers until you're sure they behave as you would expect.

Oh, and for PT3, Omaha hands are not tracked yet. This will be added.

Finally, I just saw that clicking the 'x' button to close the 'session window' will leave the 'start check' button un-selectable, forcing you to quit the program before another check can be started. Will fix this, but for now, please make sure you click the 'stop check' button rather than 'x' if you're using the session window.

Can we minimize it to the system tray?

+1

for hem can u add vpp as a stat like no of hands. hem has a stat for the same. so basically a simple query just like you do for no of hands. the name of the stat is new stars vpp points and it is found under Misc.

reaching vpp daily targets is a imp goal for most grinders(like me)

another suggestion is have is to be able to use $ev adjusted in addition to the normal $ u have. again this is a stat in hem so the same query but replacing the $ with ev$

this way i donot need to stop a session if i am running bad and i think its more useful in the long run. i could have lost 20 buyins and run 18 below ev so no reason to stop(other than mental tilt issues)

the normal $ stat will still be there anyways and i can add a special sound that lets me know i have lost 20 buyins in real money.

i am aware there are many other ways of running bad which ev line wont catch but this will still significantly improve the value of the software.

This is unnecessary imho, this is a stop loss notifier not a variance controler ... Green line is the important one.

Sorry for my comments about your suggestions but I like the way this software is, simple and light. I could buy the Tilt breaker but it's so annoying with so many features that I don't need and I don't want to see this free software to become that.

@ Theo the stuff i wanted would be in addition and not replace what is already there.
i dont see why it should adversely affect you user experience.

reg green line being imp its a personal Q. if i know i am not tilting and i and down money but ev is normal i would like to keep playing(as explained in my post).

I see how this can be useful, but I've had a (admittedly quick) look at HMs database and it does not look like the vpps are stored for the hands. I would assume HM calculates these based on other values and keeping track of such calculations is not something I want to get into.

If someone can correct me and explain an easy way of getting these (that does not involve me having to change the program if/when stars decide to change how vpps are calculated), then I'd be happy to look at it again.

I'm not a big fan of EV-stats/lines tbh. Even when they are calculated as well as they can be, they're still really inaccurate as guides for how you're running.

Sorry - but I have heard good things about this.

This is pretty much the exact reason why I made this. I looked at Tilt breaker and Tilt Demon and found I had no need for such complex programs to do the simple tasks I needed. (The whole 'shut down your clients/computer and block you from doing what you want'- thing is also not something I would ever want on my computer, but that's another matter)

I'm obviously interested in any suggestions for ways to improve the program and add functionality, but one of the main goals is to keep it simple and uncomplicated (and therefore solid and trustworthy) while hopefully still provide a good alternative for those who don't need the more advanced features of the commercial products out there.

Love the software man.

Really looking for it to work fully with an alias though! So keep working

Yes, support for aliases is coming soon(ish).

Next version should have some bugfixes, some options to choose minimize-functionality and tracking for PT3 Omaha hands.

Aliases may be included in that version, but if not, it's next on the list.

New version is up: http://home.haugnett.no/minusev/ValueCheck.zip

- Omaha hands for PT3 should now be tracked also

- The 'configuration' tab has 3 new checkboxes to set up how you want minimizing of windows to work (should hopefully be pretty self-explanatory).

- Changed the default interval for checking to 5 seconds instead of the previous 15

- Fixed the bug where clicking 'X' to quit the session window would leave the 'Start Check' button on the main window ghosted

Aliases are next on the list

Great Program!

Should be nice if we can choose what stats are visible on the "Session Window", like, just see #Hands and MinutesPlayed for example and not watch the results;

Another thing is: If I start w the "Hide Window" marked, i dont find a way to open it if i want; I try it using the system tray, but the Session Window dont shows up; The only way was to stop checking, unmark Hide Session, and the start cheking again;

Thanks in advance

Yes, I've been thinking about this. Currently you see the stats you've enabled, but it might make sense to select what you want to see in the session window separately from what stats are being tracked. I'll put it on my list.

I think 'Hide Window' should work as it does currently - if you have it checked, you don't get to see it.

But if you minimize the Session Window to system tray (without choosing Hide Window), you should be able to open it by double clicking the icon in the tray. Are you seeing all your tray icons? Depending on how your taskbar is set up, windows may "hide" some icons from the taskbar.

If you have an upward arrow near the visible icons there, you can click that to see the rest of them. You can also choose 'customize' after having clicked it, and select that the the icon for the Session Window should always be visible in the tray by selecting 'Show icon and notifications' from the dropdown menu next to it.

If you don't do this, the icon will only show up among the visible ones in the tray once it has a notifcation to show - you will still be able to bring up the session window by clicking the arrow and clicking twice on the 'Session Window' icon though.

This one has support for aliases in HM databases.

When selecting the alias in the 'select player' screen, it will show up with 0 hands, but should otherwise work.

Previously you could not select an alias (well, you could select it, but it wouldn't work) - you had to use a sn from a site.

Now you can use the aliases you have set up in HM.

In the setup window, if I tab out of a field the next element to get focus is mostly not the one one might expect.
