Just checking in about this: so am I correct in assuming this still isn't compatible w/ HM2? :-/

Afraid not - the needed api is still being promised 'soon' or 'in the near future' every time someone asks over on the holdem manager forums, just as it's been since HM2 was released...

The most recent update I could find is an "in the near future" from the start of this month, but I'm not holding my breath.

That's really too bad. I switched to HM2 a while ago a like the new features (particularly NoteCaddy), but the software is so problematic for so many reasons. It's a shame ... and it's too bad VC won't work with it either. :-/ Well I'll keep my eye out for updates (and like you, I won't be holding my breath either).

I have to say, I've been really disappointed with the direction they decided to go with HM2 in this regard.

One can only speculate why they would make it so difficult for 3rd party developers to provide extra functionality for it, but you don't have to do a lot of speculating to start wondering if they didn't go a bit too far in wanting to reserve certain functionality for the "hm apps" that they have specific agreements with (and/or have (partially) bought up).

I'm very far from an expert on the subject of poker tracker software, but I can't see any other reason for pulling that information out of the sql-database.

Also, some (most?) of the HM-exclusive software used to work for PT afaik (I know NoteCaddy did). The fact that some/all are now HM-exclusive leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I used to be a huge HM-fan, but at this point, I'd go with PT just on principle.

hi MinusEV,

I agree that the HMQL API not having been released so far hurts third parties. I want to clarify though that it also hurts HM apps. Right now the way NC pulls stats is not ideal and would benefit greatly from an API as well. Things like getting a list of player hands is also something that I can't do without traversing the entire database.

As far as the exclusivity goes, you're right - it did used to work with PT. However, there was no direct HUD integration. I'm not going to spam up your thread touting features but the main reasoning behind it being exclusive is that it simply wasn't feasible to develop my own HUD and HEM promised (and delivered) that I could use their HUD as my playground. All I wanted was to make software that I felt was awesome and that was the way to do it

Hey,

Thanks for the information.

Quite surprised to hear that the 'integrated' HM apps are also suffering from the missing API, especially with it taking so long to arrive.

At this rate, we'll have HM3 before the API for HM2

Those errors are all caused by not being able to connect to your database.

Check that you've selected PT4 and that your database name, user id and password are correct (use the 'test connection' button to confirm that it's set up correctly).

If you went with the default values when installing PT4, then the 'reset to default' button (after having selected PokerTracker 4 in the dropdown) should fill in all of those.

Are you sure you have set it up with the correct name, username and password?

You should be able to get all of that information, except for the password, from PT4s database management.

You can check that you have the right password by logging into the database using pgadmin III (PostgreSQLs admin tool).

Hi congratulations for such a useful tool,

Is it planned and when there will be support for freepokerdb databases?

Hey and thanks

I haven't really thought about FPDB but I've had a quick look at it now. Looks like it uses MySQL instead of PostgreSQL for the database, so it would mean a bit of digging to get it to read from a different type of database, but it shouldn't be a huge task if the database otherwise is built similarly.

Probably not getting done in the very near future, but I'll keep it in mind

Not that I know of. A search of the HM-forums gives nothing newer than the 'in the near future'-post that I mentioned in post #227 in this thread.

Thank you so much for this, awesome!

However I have some small requests if possible

Make it so the software can be resized to ~370 pixels wide without losing it's buttons and so on. I want run 4 tables tiled with VC on the right side, so I can easily see all it's info.

When I try to do this the start/stop button goes invisible, and if the text is wider then the window, it won't drop down to a new line. (current sess has lasted 3 min 30 s).

Is this possible please?

It doesn't scale well, and most of the screens will start looking bad if you resize to less than about 500 pixels or so.

But I've done a quick fix which should make this somewhat better for the Session-tab.

It should fix the buttons and do some basic wrapping for the 'current session has lasted'-line which is the longest one.

One of these days I may go through the program and improve how it all scales on all pages, but hopefully this should make it a bit better for now.

If you don't mind some of the other lines clipping off at the end (which shouldn't lose any information, just hide the 'this session' text or similar), then you should be able to get it down to about 350 pixels and still see all the relevant information.

New version is at the usual address.

Hey,

The programme is not starting from a new session but is using all my hands played to that point. What can I do? Thanks!

You've probably selected the 'Enable manual Session Start' option in the Options-tab.

If this is selected, a new session will only be started when you click the 'Reset session start'-button, so try turning this off if it's enabled.

I've tried that but still doesn't work. Says that this session I've played x hands, where x is all hands I've played so far.

Should I only start new session after starting the import?

There's an old bug that only affects some people and that I haven't been able to fix since I can't recreate it myself, but it sounds like you may be experiencing that one.

I believe it only affects people with HM who are running ValueCheck against a single screen name (as in, not an alias) (and only some of those).

If that's what you are doing, there is a fix (though it's rather a silly one) in that you can create an alias in HM, connect your screen name to that alias and run VC against the alias instead.

There's a description of setting up an alias in HM here if you do not know how to do this.
