hello I just installed the program. When I test the HM database connection it says "connection to database holdemmanager succeeded", and I can select my username no problem.
But when I press the start check button it says "connection failed, please check database details".
I have checked the "enable manual session start" checkbox and reset the session...
any help?

Yea, I can see how that could be useful - I'll look into that.

Could you please try unchecking "enable manual session start" and see if it works as it should then? And, if that works, try enabling the manual session start (and resetting it) and try again?

A couple of people have reported problems with this, but have yet to report back with what happens if they try without the manual session start and since I can't recreate this problem, it's a bit difficult to figure out what's going wrong

(
I just tried that. At first the same message "connection failed, please check database details" pops up. I click OK and then the program reads all my database (400K hands) and keeps alerting me that I have reached the preset hand target :P
Same thing when I try checking "enable manual session start" again and resetting...

Thanks for checking - I will have another look and see what I can find.

One more thing though - does the session start time information (the time and date) that appears when you click 'start check' show the correct time and date based on when you reset your session (or clicked start check when manual session is unselected) or is this also incorrect?

When I click 'start check' it shows the correct time and date.
When I manually reset the session the time and date do NOT change
Hope this helps...

Afraid not. I've looked through the code and tried a number of different things but can't see anything wrong or get this to bug.

It might be helpful if you could send me the user.config file from ValueCheck so I can take a look at that - there may be some bugged value or something in that one.

You should be able to find it by going to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\MinusEV\ using Windows Explorer on your machine (this may be different based on your OS and language, but if you do a search for 'minusv' on your c:\ drive, it should show up there) and entering the latest folder in this folder (it should be called ValueCheck.exe_URL_ and then a long string of numbers and letters). Inside there will be another folder with the version number (should be 1.0.1.0) and inside this is the user.config file which contains all your settings.

If you could open this in a text editor (notepad will do fine) and cut'n'paste the contents into a pm to me, that could be very helpful.

Edit: Actually you probably can't pm since you have a newish account - you can just send the whole file to ValueCheckProg ( at ) yahoo.no instead if you want.

Any new update coming? Have you ever consider accepting donations for your software?

Just sent the user.config file to your email. Hope it helps...

Got a few things half done, but I was hoping to get rid of this problem with the hands not being read properly for some people before adding those.

Off for a one week vacation to Turkey on Saturday, so I don't think there'll be any new functionality added until I return though. Will try my best to get the current bug sorted out before Saturday, but it's not looking that good atm

Thank you! Unfortunately I can't see anything that could explain it there - except for the value that holds the hand id being 0, the rest looks fine. It has found your player id, so it clearly manages to read the database.

I'm a bit lost tbh, but if you're willing to do even more work I have another thing you might try

If you delete the user.config file the program will reset all values to default.

If you do this, then start the program and do nothing but set up your database details (don't even start importing to HM) and select your screen name before clicking the 'start check', we should at least find out if the 'enable manual session start' has anything to do with the problems. Stop the check, then shut down ValueCheck and if you look at your user.config in a text editor you can see if the 'HandId' value (fourth from the bottom) has gotten a value greater than 0.

With 400K hands for your username, you have a bit bigger database then the one I'm currently using but I don't think this should matter - at least not for getting the latest hand id, which is what fails. This should be a very quick access regardless of how big your db is as it's just reading the latest Hand Id linked to your Player Id.

Also, are you using an alias or a single screen name?

You don't need to rush it and have a nice vacation week in Turkey

No problem about the work it is really easy anyway...
HandId value is 0.

NOT using an alias.

Just a thought: maybe in your source code HandId is referenced with another name. I noticed that omaha hands are referenced by OmahaHandId. Maybe it should be named HoldemHandId or sth? Don't really know...

Is it possible for you to upload a previous version of the program?

Thanks again - with the hand value still being 0 it doesn't look like it's an issue related to the manual session start.

The OmahaHandId is only used for PT3 as it has seperate numbering of Omaha and Texas Hold'em hands so there shouldn't be an issue with the HandId reference. For HM users, OmahaHandId should always be 0.

I think I'll have to add some logging functionality to the program and/or some more information to the error messages to get any further with tracking down this issue.

Yes, I'll try to dig up the old ValueCheck and upload that sometime tonight. Hopefully that should work for you until the new one gets fixed.

Hey MinusEV!

Thanks for this!

The problem I have is the same with a few people above. It shows all the hands played. I checked manually start, and hit reset. Reset works ONLY WITH THE TIME of the session.

The time of the session starts from 0, but the hands add up to the total i have in the DB, the same with the nr of BB at the highpoint, which is counted since beginning of the DB.

So it lets me know, after each reset when I reach my time limit / session.

I use win7 (run as admin) and HM.

Can anyone with this problem confirm/deny whether the old version (posted in #167 ) works for them, please?

I'll start looking at this as soon as the issue above has been fixed - I had a look at the db for the HM2 alpha, but I should probably delete it and install the current version in case there were any changes made to the structure since then.

Cool, I heard there are like 13 or so courses in like a 20km radius or so... And from what I know of Turkey, they know how to treat customers, so you must have felt like a king! Post a few pics if possible! Thanks!
