Where does the debian package drop this automatic menu entry? it drops it in accessories figured that out
I have been previously running fpdb so I don't need to resetup the database I just want to use my exsisting one but when I installed the debian package I don't know how to go about setting it up and starting it.
I still don't understand where to edit the confighud.example file to get it to connect to my db and run fpdb

I've attempted to bulk import and I'm being told that every file has a value error. I'm not really sure what it means but I'll send one of the files off to steffen. Any suggestions?

Ahhh, that makes it easier.

You have the earlier git checkout directory somewhere, and you used to run fpdb from there directly. At that time you have then likely edited HUD_config.xml.example in that directory to suit your needs. Create .fpdb directory in your home if it hasn't been created already and copy the config file there, with the name HUD_config.xml ; the program reads the config from that directory and uses settings as set in the file.

This confirms one thing. I really need to write some proper documentation for the debian package case.

Okay, as I mentioned to Sorrow, after recreating the db, version 0.12 (vista & MySQL) was doing okay till a couple days ago. Then, it seemed to lockup the hud after a short period of time. It was not my system, because all I had to do was stop fpdb, reboot just that program, and it would be fine.. for a while.

I racked my brains (not much to rack) to think of anything I had changed. Ah-ha! I had changed both "hero" and opponent stats in the config file to "2" for the aggregation ... which actually turned out to be "aggravation". It appears it goes into some kind of loop looking for stats in the db, which is merely a lay person's description. Tonight, after it had locked up 4 times earlier today, I changed the config back to "1" for both hero and opponent. Played for a couple of hours, worked perfect, no lockups.

Seems that the aggregation is having a problem aggregating, and then starts agitating (looping?), and finally ends up aggravating. Say that fast three times.

Also, as I mentioned in an earlier post, the first hand or two was giving me a huge distortion in the number of hands played and the other hud stats... after a hand or two, it adjusted to what it should have been. It stopped doing that immediately after I made the above changes to the aggregation in the config file.

Underscore not working in Postgre for HUD setup?

When I use this: vpip_0 and pfr_0

In my config, I get the stat with the % and if I try to use cb_1,

I get an error that cb is not in the dictionary.

Anyone else seeing this?

Hey guys,
Sorry if I am resuscitating a cold case, but is it still possible to get this working on Windows Vista Home Edition? The link provided containing the necessary files is dead and I would greatly appreciate somebody sharing their installation process with me. The official page states that the programmer(s) ''gave up'' on Vista, but also mentions that some have gotten it to work...
Thanks, in advance!

PS: I downloaded all the files associated with Python 2.6 mentioned in the ZIP package destined to make it work for Vista and installed them, but when I open up fpdb's setup.py file, I get a black window that closes automatically. The sourceforge page says it might my my MySQL configuration but I just went through it with the default settings and pressed next on every window. Any help is appreciated!

I am running it on Vista Home Premium just fine. It took a little extra effort because of how "protective" Vista has been designed. Have you entered the correct password from your Mysql database into the hud_config.xml in the directory \fpdb\pyfpdb I am also using Mysql and python2.6.

I also made sure that all the main programs under both fpdb and pyfpdb were set to "run as administrator"

Additionally, go to the directory \fpdb or whatever you named it. Right click on that directory, then click on "Properties", then click on the tab "security" , click on the box "edit". Click on each person on the list one at a time. A box below will open up and have two columns of various authorization. The first one "full control" should be checked. Repeat for each person on the list. Then when you are done with all of them, click on "apply" and exit. This will then bypass all of Vista's quirks about needing authority.

And, the one problem I had was the first one I mentioned above, my password in the config was not the same as the one I originally set up Mysql with. Here's an example of the bottom of my config file. You will have to enter your Mysql password where mine says "abcdef".

HTML Code:
<supported_databases>
        <database db_ip="localhost"
db_name="fpdb" db_pass="abcdef"
db_server="mysql" db_type="fpdb"
db_user="fpdb"/>
        <!-- <database db_ip="localhost"
db_name="fpdb" db_pass="fpdb"
db_server="sqlite"
db_type="fpdb" db_user="fpdb"/> -->
    </supported_databases>

</FreePokerToolsConfig>

One other quirk on Vista. Regardless of what the instructions say for installing Python2.6 I moved my python2.6 to the root directory c:\python2.6 for some reason it needs to be in that directory to work properly on Vista. This is ONLY the actual python2.6 program, NOT the \pyfpdb folder that is under the directory \fpdb\pyfpdb that's all I can pass off to you. Be patient. I gave up three times over nearly a two month period. Thanks to Sorrow and several others, I got through it and love it. Problems come up (with new snapshots) but I'm now running the latest 0.12 and basically runs great.

Good luck
Dog

Thanks for the interest,
I have disabled the UAC Control option and all the presently concerned directories (fpdb, pyfpdb, MySQL, Python26(In C: directly)) have full permission.
I edited the Hud_config.xml file which was called Hud_config.xml.example by removing the .example suffix and adding the password as suggested, as well as my screen name in the quotations where ''YOUR SCREEN NAME HERE'' was written. However when I open the setup.py in the fpdb directory, I still get a black box that disappears immediately, and all I can make from it is that the last line reads something along the lines of ''No commands''.

Maybe it's how I set up MySQL? I just clicked on the default settings and added a password.

Thanks in advance!

It's probably either a python or a mysql problem, I think both need to be set up to run as administrator on Vista. To start with, create a simple python file like this:

Code:
import sys
print "python is working"
sys.stdin.readline()
When you double-click on this it should print the message and then wait for you to press return. Does that work?
Separately, can you access mysql ok via any other apps? e.g. there are some Gui Tools that can be useful.
BTW, on my laptop (which runs Vista) I put the fpdb directory in the Public area (I forget the exact name), and I don't think it needed any special setup on those dirs to get it running.

cb1, cb2, cb3.

Run python Stats.py to see the valid stats - It would appeat that http://****************/apps/mediawik...itle=Howto_HUD has an old list.

Fixed now.

When I was working with Dog on this - this appeared to be one of the biggest fixes. I assume PYTHONPATH or soe other environment variable was pointed at the wrong place.

Which you now appear to have done.

The stock solution on the net for this appears to be 'reinstall'

Start with python 2.6
mysql or postgres plugin for python
pygtk
numpy
matplotlib

Would be the most appropriate order - any I missed?

Remember that PYGTK comes in three packages on their page.. PYGTK, PYGObject, and one other I can't recall the name of right off hand.

All of them need to be installed.

FPDB works fine on Win XP, Vista, and 7. Even in 64-bit, although you need to make sure that all of your parts are 32-bit parts.

Help, I've broken the software!!

I had it importing with the HUD and I started playing around in the menus.......

I clicked "Database" then "Create or Recreate Tables" and now when I try and import files nothing happens.

Any ideas?

EDIT: I fixed this problem by doing a Bulk import.

I'm using "v0.11.3 or higher" is this the latest available?

Also, how do I analyse a session? I have a player stats screen showing levels but I can't get deeper than this screen.

Regarding the HUD, can it be configured to display stats for only particular stakes (I play Razz cash).

Thanks for the great work, if I can get a little more functionality I will be over the moon!!!

I just tried to instal FPDB. I followed the installation instructions on the wiki page. I installed MYsql and the different parts of python. When I got to the end, It said to go to the pyfpdb folder and click fpdb.py. When I do this, a black box appears and says,

error output is being diverted to......
Reading configuration file C:Users\AppData\Roaming\fpdb\HUD_config.xml

Then the box disappears.
I am running Windows 7 and want to use fpdb with stars. I am trying to use V0.11.3

No - the latest versions are in the Snapshot area at sourceforge.

0.11.3 is pretty much dead, both Stars and FTP have had hand history format updates, and noone has stepped up to patch the previous release.

We're working towards that goal, but that screen (and the new+broken session stats viewer) are as deep as you can analyse without doing direct db queries at the moment.

The tarball should contain the folder heirarchy fpdb-0.12-2009.../...

1) Rename the fpdb-xxxx to just fpdb and replace the folder from hte original installation.
2) Copy the HUD_config.xml.example to HUD_config.xml and edit in hte same way as the previous install.
3) Replace the config file you set up previously
4) Start fpdb, and recreate the tables

That should be it.

Hi,

I am trying to run the latest build from the git repository on Ubuntu 9.10.

I managed to set everything up and launch the program, and bulk importing a few Full Tilt hands worked fine (got stats + graph etc.). I then played a few more hands and tried to Auto Import, but had no luck. Nothing seemed to be importing. No new hands showed up in my stats or graph, despite the fact that two new hand history files were clearly in my hand history folder.

I did however get this warning in fpdb-error-log:

Code:
WARNING:root:Attempted to add non-directory: '** ERROR DEFAULT PATH IN CONFIG DOES NOT EXIST **' as an import directory
I was adding my Hand History folder via the "Browse" option, navigating to the appropriate directory in .wine/drive_c/Program Files... etc.

I also got this error in HUD-error.txt, which I am not sure is relevant:

Code:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/home/<myusername>/fpdb/pyfpdb/HUD_main.py", line 59, in <module>
    import XTables as Tables
  File "/home/i<myusername>/fpdb/pyfpdb/XTables.py", line 35, in <module>
    import Xlib
ImportError: No module named Xlib
Please help!

PS: I also noticed that all info I enter is not saved between launches, eg. screen name, path to import folder, etc.

tbh, i'm not sure if browse works at the moment in git

This will also happen if you have a site enabled that isn't actually installed.

OK, we are getting closer. I disabled Pokerstars and entered my Full Tilt hand history folder location directly into HUD_config.xml.

Now when I click Auto Import I get the "HUD Main Window" which just has one line of text that says "Closing this windows will exit the HUD."

However my new hands are still not being imported!

My fpdb-error-log now says this:

Code:
ERROR:root:out_path /home/<myusername>/.fpdb/HandHistories/Full Tilt Poker/<myscreenname>-FT20091211 Lowdown (6 max) - $0.25-$0.50 - No Limit Hold'em.txt couldn't be opened
