what does the postgres line look like in you HUD_config.xml file?

mine looks like this:
Code:
<database db_ip="localhost" db_name="fpdb" db_pass="" db_server="postgresql" db_type="fpdb" db_user="eratosthenes">
Are you using postgres as your database? The error message indicates that you are.

Re: Free/open source poker tracking software: FPDB - (v 0.11-mucked card display) - 07-APR-2009

I have this running now. I am running on Vista, using Mysql.

When I bulk imported all my hands it is obvious that it is not importing tournaments. Most of my tournaments are the single table SNG DON's. The command line error says to mention that they are "value errors" and to send the HH's to ......

My hand-error.txt file is now over 8M and growing. It appears it is all tournaments. I am sure you don't want me sending thousands of hands, especially if you are already aware and a fix is pending. Any advice?

Second comment: Is there a plan in the future to allow us to pick which stats we want to appear on the HUD?

Third comment: The HUD seems to be having a problem dealing with my preferred seating on PStars. I have saved the the table settings, but it seems to forget that when I reopened the HUD next session, but I have to "shift" all the players around to adjust for the preferred seating.

Great! thanks for the feedback. You may have switched to MySQL at just the moment I got Postgres sorted--but don't change back!

My brother plays lots of DoNs on Stars and imports OK. This is a problem we don't know about. I will PM my email address so you can send me a couple of the problem HH files.

How to HUD. That page is not linked to the navigation sidebar. I'll fix that after lunch. Some day I will do a gui set up for the HUD, but not until I stabilize it some.

How to Fav_seat.

Do you know what you did that made it work on Vista?

A lot!! Actually, it was a step by step process and Sorrow helped when I'd send screen shots of errors. I'll detail it a bit more when you PM me.

A question about the HUD config file. The stats background is covering up too much, if I change "hud_opacity" will it affect both foreground and background?

Next question: The default opacity shows "1.0" which appears to mean nothing shows thru the stats window. What is the range if I want to make that more "see thru"?

Nevermind, I figured this out. Range is 0.0 to 1.0, right? And it does affect both fore and background.

Next issue... I am using the default 6 different stats on the hUd. I changed the config file, under studhilo, the game I play, and added "_0" to five of the stats. I ignored "hands" since that is always a round number. After doing that, and changing the opacity to ".75", I saved the file, sat at a table and opened the HUD.

My stats popped up, but no one else's stats came up. Additionally, It rounded my vpip and pfr just fine. The other stats, including hands, which i made no changes to, all show now as "xxx" rather than a number. As a humorous side note, when I pass the mouse over the "xxx" items/stats the popup box says "stuff" But still no players other than myself. Did I do something wrong?

I just went and recheck my config file, can't see any noticeable errors. However, when I just went back to test again, about two mins into a session, a second player's stats mysteriously appeared, but not the rest. The second player's stats did round off on the first two, and also showed "xxx" and a mouse over shows "stuff" as the description.

correct. windows with opacity of 0.0 are invisible. BTW: this only works on Windows or in Linux with a composititing window manager.

Not all of the stats have _0 equivalents that show no decimals. Only the ones in the table in the HUD how to on the wiki, which is here: http://fpdb.wiki.****************/Howto+HUD

there is a pfr_0 and a vpip_0, but there isn't a wmsd_0 stat. You'll need to remove the _0 from those.

Configuring the number of places shown is on the to do list.

When the HUD initially sets up the tool tip it doesn't actually have the info required to fill it. Somewhere along the way I decided to stick "stuff" in the tool tip, probably to make testing easier.

Re: Free/open source poker tracking software: FPDB - (v 0.11-mucked card display) - 07-APR-2009

Hi All--

I just made version 0.11.1 available on the SourceForge Download page. This is a simple bug fix release to:
  • Fix some importing problems with some PokerStars tournaments.
  • Fix some problems when using PostgreSQL.
If you are not having those problems, you probably don't need this release, (I don't say that very often.) but it probably won't hurt anything.

If you use my git public repo to get updates, this update is available now and is tagged "0.11.1". (without the quotes)

What's Next:
Several of us have mentioned ITT that the new hand history import code is comely along nicely. That code will make it "easy" to add support for more poker sites. This is being implemented with a new database schema that allows a lot more information and stats. (s0rrow posted a nice screen shot of the tracker using that schema a while back.) So we're now going to work on bringing that importer and schema out into the main code--the next release will include that. One thing that means is that there will be some broken stuff and regressions for a while on anything newer that 0.11.1. This won't affect users who download the releases from SourceForge, but the users who pull from my git repo might see more unstability than usual (you can always revert to 0.11.1 with "git branch 0.11.1"). This will be some short term inconvenience, for some longer term gain.

Re: Free/open source poker tracking software: FPDB - (v 0.11-mucked card display) - 07-APR-2009

I have a question:

When the auto import is ON, does it look in the HH file for any files it has not imported, or only the next file imported from the tables you are playing on. For instance, if I play a session and "forget" or choose not to auto import, the next time I turn on the auto import will it find those hands?

I have had problems with the bulk import not finding hands. I had to go to hands one-by-one, using the bulk importer, and that worked fine. But, if I tried to bulk import a directory, it skipped most of the files. Is that part of the future fixes? Or, am I the only one having probs with the bulk importer? This is in regards to cash games, not tournaments. Tournaments are a whole nuther thing.

The auto importer watches a folder for changed or new files. When a file is changed, it will be imported from the beginning, with hands already imported being ignored. So the short answer is that old files are not imported.

I have not seen (nor heard of) this particular problem with the bulk importer. I can't think of anything that would cause this--maybe one of the other devs can. This is certainly a problem we want to sort out. I'll think about this some more.

Your problem with the DoN SNGs on PS should be fixed with this morning's release, BTW.

Actually, if I understand you correctly, the answer to what I was asking is "yes". I was talking about a NEW file that had been created without the auto importer turned ON. You are saying it will "sense" or see a new file that has not been imported and it will pick it up and imported those HH files, right?

One other suggestion/comment: I know that the screens are a work-in-progress, but when I pull up "player stats" no matter how many games are in the list, it opens to the same size. That crunches the numbers and you have to manually enlarge the screen, which it doesn't remember. And, there needs to be a "slide" to scan them downwards. If one has too many games, it will eventually be even too big to fit without a slide... thanks

Sorry, I wasn't clear--when I say new file, I mean new since fpdb was started. If a HH file is created while fpdb is not running, fpdb will not import it unless it gets added to while fpdb is running.

This has been fixed (I think) in the code associated with the new importer/new schema that I mentioned earlier.

Really quick fix is shift+left mouseclick drag. Enables you to resize that window.

That works well, thanks. Any advice on how to change it in the hud_config? I tried to save the changed hud display and start it again to see if those changes are saved apparently they don't.

HUD config isn't my forte unfortunately. I've found the shift drag method works well enough for me.

One of the other devs might be able to help.

There is a config parameter that should allow a frame around the stats--it appears to be broken in the current version.

If you want to change this in the source one easy way is in Hud.py. At about line 411, you'll find:
Code:
        self.sb_click = 0 # used to figure out button clicks
        self.popups = [] # list of open popups for this stat window
        self.useframes = parent.config.get_frames(parent.site)
change that to:
Code:
        self.sb_click = 0 # used to figure out button clicks
        self.popups = [] # list of open popups for this stat window
        self.useframes = True

It works pretty good but i don't like the look of the frames very much, the stats window became a little too big also (height).
Is there no other way to get space between these 2 values?

OK, pick the stat you want to pad and find it in the Stats.py file. For example, the N stat is around line 260:
Code:
def n(stat_dict, player):
    """    Number of hands played."""
    try:
        return (stat_dict[player]['n'],
                '%d'        % (stat_dict[player]['n']),
                'n=%d'      % (stat_dict[player]['n']),
                'n=%d'      % (stat_dict[player]['n']),
                '(%d)'      % (stat_dict[player]['n']),
                'number hands seen'
                )
Add a space or 2 as shown:
Code:
def n(stat_dict, player):
    """    Number of hands played."""
    try:
        return (stat_dict[player]['n'],
                '  %d  '        % (stat_dict[player]['n']),
                'n=%d'      % (stat_dict[player]['n']),
                'n=%d'      % (stat_dict[player]['n']),
                '(%d)'      % (stat_dict[player]['n']),
                'number hands seen'
                )
This should work on any stat.

One of the other devs suggested this fix. About line 450 in Hud.py, change this:
Code:
                else:
                    grid.attach(e_box[r][c], c, c+1, r, r+1, xpadding = 0, ypadding = 0)
                label[r].append( gtk.Label('xxx') )
to this:
Code:
                else:
                    grid.attach(e_box[r][c], c, c+1, r, r+1, xpadding = 1, ypadding = 0)
                label[r].append( gtk.Label('xxx') )
Are these darn code boxes tiny for everybody? I am missing something?

That worked, thanks a lot but i think there could be a little bit more free space between the values, it's still pretty close.

Is there a posibility to make the hud window wider in the config, something like that?
It would be really nice.

Yeah that code boxes are not very big...

The 1 you put in is the number of extra pixels, so putting in a 2 (etc.) makes more space. There is not really a reliable way to make the HUD window bigger--you can specify a size, but it is always wrong.
