Hello everyone,
The new fpdb release 0.26 is now available for download as source or as packages/installers for Debian, Gentoo, Ubuntu and Windows. This version brings many improvements and bugfixes, we listed some of them later on. There was an error in the creation of the Windows installer, if you use Windows please download 0.26.1 instead of 0.26.

So... what is FPDB?
===================
FPDB (Free Poker Database) is a free/open source suite of steadily growing tools to track and analyse your online poker game. FPDB is able to import the hand histories that poker sites write to your computer and to store additional data from each hand in a database for use in later analysis.

FPDB is ambitious, intending to support all games. Currently we support flop based games (Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo), stud games (7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, and Razz) and draw games (Triple Draw Lowball, 5 Card Draw, and Badugi) on most major poker sites.

FPDB provides a Heads Up Display (HUD), Profit Grapher and Stats viewers with a list of features that is growing.

What's changed
==============
281 changesets (incl. merges) have gone in since 0.25. Some of the improvements, in no particular order, are:

Parser Changes:
- Stars: Polish on the summary parsing (e.g. 8Game, HORSE); Fixes for various draw games
- FTP: Much improved summary parsing (bad timing, sorrow did most of this just before they were shut down )
- Everleaf: HUD now works in cap limit games
- Party: Fixes for tourneys
- iPoker: Major update
- Carbon: Fix parsing of amounts; fixed limit stake recording; support A-5 lowball and single draw; Tourney improvements

HUD&GUI&Analysis Changes:
- A whole bunch of interface improvements for the viewers.
- Many fixes/improvements to the session viewer
- Improved HUD defaults
- Add currency filter (especially important to remove play money hands from analysis)
- Order-of-magnitude better performance for updating the HUD on the default sqlite database

Other Changes:
- Fair bit of translations and string cleaning
- Update bundled libraries of the Windows installer
- Misc cleanups
- Various backend improvements, especially for MySQL and sessions
- Another fix for non-English filenames on Windows
- Assorted other stuff
- Improved automated testing

For the full changelog or to look at ongoing development please visit http://trac-git.assembla.com/fpdb/timeline

Languages
=========
Fpdb 0.26 is fully translated into English and Hungarian, and mostly translated into French and Romanian. There's partial translations for Spanish, Italian, German, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese and Russian. Any help with translations would be appreciated.

How to download/update
======================
Please note that you will have to either recreate your database or use a new one if you're updating from 0.25 or older. Fpdb will warn you if your database is incompatible and will not work properly unless you recreate or use a new one.
Config files from 0.20 and later should work. Please report if you have problems with config files from that version or later.
You can find checksums (MD5 and SHA512) in the download folder.

How to get help
===============
Please also see the "Bug reports" section below to enable us to help you.
These are listed in order of usefulness - the 2+2 thread in particular is rather chaotic so if we miss your post feel free to bring it up again
1) Chat/IRC
One of the developers is usually around, but it is IRC. Dont get discouraged because if we don't answer within 10 minutes, once we do you've probably got our full attention.
This link takes you to a website where you can talk to us directly: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=fpdb
Alternatively use can use any IRC client to connect to #fpdb on freenode.net
2) Mailing List

(Note: If you play poker and don't frequent the 2+2 forums, you may want to become better acquainted. Its a bit daunting at first, but well worth the effort)

Bug reports
===========
When you do report issues, try to make it easier for us help you. We usually need at least the following information:
- Operating system and version (e.g. Ubuntu 10.10 or Windows XP)
- Database type (MySQL, SQLite, PostgreSQL)
- Install method (exe, tarball, deb, git, ebuild)
- Fpdb version
- Site name and gametype (e.g. $10 Pokerstars Razz SnG)
You can find most of these details for easy copy&paste in the Help menu under About.

Important known problems
========================
PKR is not working correctly

Notice for Windows users
========================
First-time installs may need to download and install the C++ runtime executable from Microsoft. Fpdb on Windows is not currently compatible with PostgreSQL 9.x (it works fine in Linux). Please let us know if you know a way to solve either of these problems.

Notice for Arch Linux users
===========================
You will need to change the shebang in fpdb.pyw and HUD_main.pyw from python to python2. Get in touch if you have questions about this or if you have a solution to this problem that doesn't affect compatibility for other distros.

I downloaded the latest version^^^ The program itself seems to work great, but there is one interesting thing on start up.

First it displays this message:

Then it displays a series of this message over and over for each site:

But the funny this is, after you click OK on everything, it seems to work??

Looks like these are messages generated when moving from one fpdb version to another - They are only warnings, so everything will work ok.

Thanks for reporting, will get this fixed for the next version,

You will need to allow javascript for that site - the text box for typing is then at the bottom of the window

Is the HUD supposed to be 'persistent' ie 'always on top'?
If I tile tables on top of each other, the HUDs from tables under show through the table on top, so that the whole thing becomes a mess. I can't do a screenshot, as bizarrely when I launch ksnapshot, the HUD's all disappear, also, just noticed if I have mousepad open and switch focus to it, the huds disappear as well.
Should I just ditch openSuse and try another distro? If so which is recommended?

sounds like you have a bizarre window manager, or at least some settings in it are quite bizarre. The windows are attached as child windows to the tables, so for the most part (except for annoying GTK issues in Windows, that the GTK people will likely never fix, choosing to blame it on Microsoft instead) they should attach to the tables and stay there.

Hi!
I download the latest version and I saw a video about how to install (im new with this type of programs). In video it said that is very important to select the english language when you save your poker hands to the computer. But the video is made with some previous version and I guess back then the only language of the FPDB was english. Now I downloaded the program and the language is romanian (yes, I'm romanian, but I wanted english so I could google when I have a problem and see the resolve).
My question is: I save my poker hands in romanian or english?
Other question: Will the program automatically update my poker hands or I have to do this manually (I didn't import anything, I don't have other program like this)
Thanks!

Go ahead and save your hands in English and set FPDB's language option to Romanian for it to work like you want it to.

Thanks!
You can bulk import your old hands by going to Import>Bulk Import and selecting the folder where they are located on your computer. You'll also need to select the site first before you import. FPDB will also auto import from select folders while you play. You can configure those options in Import>Auto Import and HUD.

What version are you using? Triple draw on Stars has been working for quite some time as far as i know. Also, what timezone do you have set in the Stars client?

hi, there.
I have a problem with versions 0.25 and 0.26.1 (didnt test 0.26):
When I rearrange the HUD player/opponent stats positions, save layout and kill the HUD, the reappearing HUD will have the player/opp stats at a slightly different position, though I didnt change window size or position.
Problem doesn't occur with v. 024, so for the moment I use this version.
(I play STTs and MTTs on stars, only one game at a time)

Anyways, thanks for this GREAT software

Hi, I 've been using the software for 1,5 years and I have to say thanks for the great effort. I have 0.22 installed and I want to pass on 0.25. Is there any way to save my preferences from the previous version?

I am having trouble getting the HUD to work correctly while multitabling. The stats pop up in various positions and will not save correctly in the layout. Is there a way to fix this problem?

I'm on windows 7 running fpdb 0.26 + git

When I do a bulk import of cake hands and select cake under the "Site filter" i get this error repeating in the log:

I was wondering what the current status on the hand history replayer is? Is it being actively developed? This is the only thing I really miss in fpdb. I wouldn't even need a replayer, but just the possibility to search for hands and view hand histories.

On a related node - in the settings there are two keys for that - raw_hands.save and raw_hands.compression. I have it set to all and none respectively, yet I cannot see any HHs in the RawHands table in the db. What am I missing?

With the current state of fpdb - how do others go about reviewing hands without manually searching through the original HH files? I mean it would be possible to generate all the relevant info from hacking some SQL and combining the info from the Hands and HandsAction tables, but is there any more convenient way to go about this?

I think you got your answer on IRC.

We do try and make old configs work with new versions, but taking a backup first is a very good idea.

That sounds like a favourite seat issue.

What site and version?

Cake support is very new, and we don't have many hand histories. That log is just saying we don't recognise that gametype yet.

Are you able to send some sample histories to me?

Development has just restarted on this after philr has taken some interest.

It now pretty much supports holdem and Omaha. I'm looking at implementing filters at the moment. The next release should see this work.

Those options don't actually do anything

We created the tables, and added options, but noone has actually done the legwork to implement it yet.
