Re: CPU drain

juk, Tera,

I have a similar but with FPHG and Party CPU usage going up. At the same time Party's memory footprint goes up as well. I have to recycle both Party and FPHG eventually. It's not monster - things were same before Monster as well.

Wow, awr, that's news to me too. Thanks for the tip!

bhudson, does recycle mean shut down the program, restart computer, or other? (I should never have chosen Tera_flop as a name b/c it gives the impression that I know something). Thanks!

BTW, I paid particular attention to cpu use during datamining w/ fphg, iwitness and PT running. Totally stable over 2 hours. My problems only occur when I add playing into the mix (PAHUD, MTH are on then, but are not the cpu hogs, it is PP and PT. I find this suprising... but I'm a biologist.)

Re: FPHG available

Sorry, I am sure this has already been addressed, but a quick answer would be great:

Can you play and collect data on your tables normally, while also collecting on observed tables with FPHG?

Thanks

Yes, it should be fine as PT will take care of any duplicates. You can also use the "-o" option to not output any hands you are involved in, as these get saved by the Party client anyway.

Thanks Juk, you're the man!

BTW, can you tell me how to use the "-o" option please.

When you extract the FPHG zipfile you'll see a file called "run.bat". Edit it to look like this:

@echo off
freephg.exe -o

Then make sure you run FPHG by running run.bat and not by running freephg.exe itself.

I cant really see an explanation, but even for me Party seems to be running badly lately (even for datamining). I used to be able to mine 3 clients without too many problems, but recently just 2 clients maxes my CPU.

Juk
I don't think it's the hhf's. I know from my experience speed-testing FPHG and playing with different loading conditions that Party behaves differently when you're playing tables vs. observing tables.

Party has significant memory creep once you start playing; more segments come into use, forcing FPHG to scan more and more memory. Part of the reason is that it starts remembering played hand histories, but the creep is too big to be explained by that; there is probably some leaking, as well.

In addition, there is a lot of creep caused by opening and closing tables; GDI objects just keep stacking up. If you're like me, you probably open and close a lot of tables finding your chosen four or five to play. . . and that causes a lot of dud objects to hang out in memory.

If you open 12 tables and just observe, Party will run stable for quite a while. This is probably how they ran it to test for bugs and leaks.

If you play four tables while cycling through all the rest of the tables, your memory consumption will increase steadily and you will build up thousands of discarded GDI objects. You can see them easily in task manager; just open and close tables and the number continues to grow! They obviousl did not test it while playing and surfing tables.

Re: FPHG available

Thanks again Juk, I just modified the run.bat.

On a different note, I must be doing something wrong here:

I closed out the freephg.exe and then cut and paste all of the hand history files (hhfs) it had recorded into my Hand History folder in my Party Gaming/Hand History directory.
However, when I try to force import with Poker tracker, it says it reads 8 files, but doesn't actually import any of the data.

Could it be because the hand history files Party autorecords while you're playing are txt docs and these are hhfs? You know what I am doing wrong here?

Thanks a bunch!

If you want to output the files as .txt, then use the option "-e txt" aswell.

To import the hands as .hhf files, you will need to use the lightning bolt importer in PT and setup PT to import observed hands.

OK, so my run.bat would look like this:

@echo off
freephg.exe -o -e txt

Is this correct?

Just noticed with observed hands at the Party 25/50 that when there's a tied hand, half the pot is given to the rake! Anyone else have this problem?

Hey guys (Juk, dave) -

I edited my run.bat as above, saved it. And then tried to run the program from the run.bat as Juk mentioned above, but it didn't work. A black box popped up and went away real quick and that was it. I can, however, still run the fphg.exe normally like I did in the past.

Any ideas here? Thanks

Re: FPHG available

Tera, by recycle I mean shutdown and restart BOTH party and FPHG. This has to be done after several hours of observing for me.

The Party importer WILL import .hhf files. You need to use the InterTops.exe trick - that is put a file (any file) named InterTops.exe into your .hhf folder and point the importer to it. (Empire will no longer work)

stupid question, but how do you point the importer to it? I click on the lightning bolt in PT, then I select the file that the intertops file and the hhf files are in?

Re: FPHG available

nm my question, I'm just gonna go ahead and use the .txt approach, but I was just wondering if the hhf. approach is better for any reason that I should keep trying for.

Does your txt approach work correctly? I can't seem to get mine to work. Thx.

Re: FPHG available

works perfectly. I moved the run.bat to the same folder as the FPHG exe. I then right clicked the run.bat, went to edit, deleted the -p -2 part or whatever and typed -e txt, saved, double clicked the run.bat, the window comes up. I started some tables, wait for a couple mins, and in the window it shows the tables and hands coming up. The files then appear in the folder where FPHG and the run.bat are. I then manually imported these files to PT like I do with any other hand that I am in.

When you run the run.bat file does it flash for a second and disappear? If so, it's probably because it's in a different folder than the FPHG.exe file. When you first unzipped the file the run.bat is in a sub-folder called v0.06 or something, so you have to move it.

I'm sorry, which .hhf folder? Previously, I created a bogus "pokernow" folder which has in it: the entire freephg folder and a bogus "pokernow.exe". With this, I was able to import observed hands using the lightening bolt option. To use the Party importer for observed hands, where exactly do I put the freephg folder, Intertops.exe, and which skin am I pointing through (intertops, empire, party? I'm confused. Thanks again. Tera.

Re: FPHG available

Hmm, we are probably crossing wires somewhere. The Party importer is the one where you have to specify an exe location. The generic importer does not need this. Both intertops and pokernow exes should work fine, I just happen to use intertops, in the folder where the .hhf files are stored.

when i convert to .txt, the files are saved to my personal pt database, not my observed databased, as I would prefer. I think that .hhf is needed if you want them to go the database specified in the observed import function.

Does your txt approach work correctly? I can't seem to get mine to work. Thx.

Re: FPHG available

I am trying to import hhf observed hands through the party importer (not lightning bolt, for reasons explained by others early). I'm using a bogus Pokernow folder with freephg inside. I think I have followed the directions, but I am unable to get any imports into my observed data base using the party importer. can anyone see what I'm doing wrong below? Thanks very much for your help. Tera.
