Re: From an email I just got, possibly relavent to others

If some people will find this helpful then I can add this as an option very easily.

I am also gonna try to add something to re-tag 6max games as 6max (maybe an option, maybe a heuristic guess based on the seat positions for all previous hands at a table?), and in that case maybe yet another option which was for separating out observed .hhf and played .txt would be useful?

Re: From an email I just got, possibly relavent to others

Actually, I use the old-school lightning bolt importer from Poker Tracker, rather than the Party Poker chip icon.

I tell it to import my played hands from the Party Poker directory, where it imports the HHF's that Party writes. It puts these into my main (personal) DB.

I tell it to import observed hands from a different directory - where I tell the observed HHF's to go. I tell it to import these into an obs database. I have several obs databases.

I tell my HUD which obs databases to pull from. I don't pull from my personal played database - some of that data is very old, and all the new stuff is duplicated in my obs databases anyway.

juk any way you can get FreePHG to work with Empire Poker? Empire was just re-integrated back into Party ..I just tried and it wont work. I'd like to mine off Empire on one pc and off Party on another. I see I can open 12 tables on Empire but only 10 on Party.

I'll take a look right now (it should be very simple I guess).

Thanks for the feedback and hopefully soon my PC will be a little less "strained" by being able to mine one of each in the same user area.

Juk

EDIT: It appears that you can't open both at the same time, so ignore my "wishful thinking"!

Re: Steps required to use FPHG

I just downloaded this. I got it running and everything, but I can't figure out how to get the hands imported into PT. I can't find the folder from PT where the HH's are stored. Any help here?

the HHFs are writen in the directory you started FPHG from
the best way to import with PT is to use the lightning bolt and add the directory you have FPHG in

The idea (see here) about using a fake EmpirePoker.exe might also help too if your are having problems getting PT to set the folder (but I guess now Empire is merged then prehaps use PokerNow.exe or something like that?).

Re: Steps required to use FPHG

Hi Juk, I just dl'ed it as well. I start it (by clicking on the batch file) and then start the party client. I go to a table and wait but no grabs. I've read the readme and have the latest party client so what am I not doing right? TIA

Does FreePHG keep running (it should open a black command prompt box and stay open), or do you see it just pop up and close?

If it's running, make sure you're looking for the HHF's in the right place: the folder where you put FreePHG. They won't be in your Party folders, unless that's where you put FreePHG.

First try running without using the batch file and see if that helps or makes any difference.

If that fails to help, then try editing the batch file so that it looks like this:

FreePHG.exe -prof

And tell me if it is outputing anything while running (other than it's speed in hands/min).

If all else fails, then try editing the batch file to look like this:

FreePHG.exe -a 1

And tell me if that makes any difference.

Re: Steps required to use FPHG

This software looks fantastic, and I'd love to start using it, but I'm worried. Not to be a jerk or anything, but is this going to get me banned at Party Poker? I've heard of players being banned for using various "helper software" programs, and I'm wondering if this qualifies. I'd prefer not to lose my Party Poker account, and I'd HATE to lose my Party Poker bankroll. If this is senseless fearmongering, I apologize in advance, but is this software prohibited by Party Poker's rules?

I wish I could give you a better answer, but I don't think that anybody really knows the answer to this. It isn't listed in the T&C page as being prohibited to mine hands for you own use (whereas Stars does specifically make a point of outlawing data-mining).

As far as I know, Party has only ever banned players for outright cheating/collusion. I think even bot users have been sent warnings rather than being banned in the past, so I think as far as being banned and/or your funds being seized goes, then this is not so likely.

I think that the most likely way they will stop the use of FPHG (if they wish to?) is to simply block the method it uses to grab the HHs (so far their have been 3 updates and they haven't yet done this). I am not even 100% sure if they actually left this to keep Multi-Tablers from leaving the site, as by doing it this way they; keep it a "grey" area, keep Multi-Tablers happy, and at the same time the fish don't hear about it.

Outstanding. Thanks for the information, and thanks for not misinterpreting me as accusing anybody of anything. What can I say? I'm paranoid.

I'll give this a whirl when I get home tonight.

Thanks again -- this has been super valuable for me.

Re: Steps required to use FPHG

How would Party go about detecting it and how easy would it be for the developer to change the program name or process names in various updates?

BTW - works perfectly. Many thanks.

If you simply change the name of the executable, then this will change the process name for you.

BUT, this is not the way Party will detect it and they will most likely dump the contents of the process using the ReadProcessMemory() function, then match a signature to it (basically the same way as a virus killer finds resident viruses).

If you want then you have a few options to avoid this (in order of complexity):

(1) Run ProcessGuard and protect the FreePHG process from being read by other processes.

(2) Edit the source code by moving the functions around, add some extra junk code to pad it out and recompile using different compiler options to what I have used.

(3) Read up on Runtime-Polymorphic-Encryptors (as used in viruses), and add a simple Polymorphic XOR encryptor to the code. This will slow it down slightly as it will have to decrypt its code segments each cycle, but it will stop the ReadProcessMemory() + signature testing trick dead. Party will then require a fairly advanced heuristic to detect FreePHG (NOTE: This must be runtime polymorphic, therefore using something like "Yoda's Cryptor" [which is "loadtime polymorphic"] will not be much help...).

Atm it is not clear if they are against this mining technique, but if sometime in the future they do clamp down and decide to ban FPHG or data-mining in general (like Stars have for example), then I myself will not be carrying on data-mining and will not be updating any banned code to do workarounds like I mentioned above. FPHG will always remain open-source, so if others decide to do write workarounds, then they can if they so wish...

I am getting the "the compressed folder is invalid/corrupted" message when I'm trying to extract v .05. I have tried both IE and firefox. What am I missing / can someone rehost it please?

Thanks.

Hmmmm... I thought I had got to the bottom of this, but alas it looks like this problem has come back.

If you give me about 5 minutes, then I will host a copy on the main page as a RAR file and see if this helps (you will need to use winrar to extract it though).

The main page for FPHG now has a copy hosted in RAR format (and a link to where you can download a copy of WinRAR).

Tell me if this works any better for you.
