Problem
The cooler is a kind of poker deal when two or more participants play their hands correctly but someone loses. Their hands are so strong that fold is incorrect. Thereby cooler EV = 0*.

And the problem is that All-In EV and Street by Street (Sklansky bucks) EV graphs will go down if you get a cooler which doesn’t turn to your advantage. So it will display that EV of your decision is negative while it is equal to zero.

Solution
Cooler Hunter EV graph (based on Street by Street EV) will stay. You set range of starters for preflop all-ins and range of combinations for postflop, clashes of which should be considered as coolers according to your playing style. EV of such streets will be calculated as zero. Such correction gives you the most realistic picture of your relations with luck.

*Actually cooler EV = 0 – rake, but we try to simplify our explanations.

Very interesting. Looks neat. However, your street by street EV differs from the result that SECT, a third party program that supposedly calculates street by street EV for HEM, shows.

I don't know which is correct. Your program shows me even more unlucky than SECT. For the last two years, it seems to me that I have been unlucky.

I haven't really tried the cooler part yet.

I thought that I would be more specific. First, the program crashes when I run it for my Merge player account.

When I run it for my Poker Stars player account for this year. I get.
Winnings -239.14 which is accurate.
Street by street EV 154.72

However, SECT shows street by street EV or exp. win is -4.36, but SECT has my actual winnings wrong; it shows -238.89. I have no idea why it is missing one blind. It may be including some hand from 12/31/2010 because it uses Eastern time and I am on Central and so is my HEM. But the difference in expected street by street winnings is stark and I don't know which is right.

Also, I can't get your program to run for yesterday in the date field.

If I had to guess, I would guess that your program is more accurate. I thought that my luck last year was bad. But I don't know for sure.

Nevermind, I know understand why your EV differs from SECT. You effectively filter out so-called coolers by setting them equal to zero. So your street by street EV will be higher than SECT. I guess that it changes depending on how you define a "cooler."

Not a bad idea actually. But I would love to know my actual EV for each street.

Now all of a sudden, the program refuses to start. I get a message that the program has stopped running whenever I try to open it. I'm using Vista 64 bit. It was working until I tried to change my HEM database. When I changed it, the program stopped working and refuses to work.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice and changed the HEM database back to the original one, but the error persists. Strange.

We have just started with the minimum of that is required for start. Give us a time, please.

Right panel is for Cooler Hunter EV only. So, we do not filter any coolers from Street by Street EV. Theoretically it must match with SECT. It means that either we or SECT developer made a mistake in calculations.

Deleting config.xml file from installing folder should help.

Have discovered, that time filters do not work correctly. It works correctly only with "All Hands" selection.

Ok, then your street by street EV calculations do not match SECT.

I tried deleting that file, but it did not change anything.

Ok, I think that I have figured out why your street by street EV does not match SECT and why your all in EV does not match HEM. The figure, for each stat, that your program displays is the EV minus the actual winnings; not the EV itself.

Oh, I deleted the program, then deleted the folder and reinstalled and it works again.

Well, the above was only true for this year date range. Last year and all hand date ranges were very different and your figures did not agree with street by street EV SECT or all in EV HEM.

No problem. Once documentation exists that states exactly what the program is supposed to do, I'm sure you'll get more interest and therefore more testers.

One suggestion might be an example hand for which this program computes an expected value that differs from, and is better than, the PT3/HEM all-in EV or the EV computed by SECT. This might help readers understand why they might want to use your program instead of the others.

This day was very productive. In a few hours program will automatically update to a new version. All the issues raised were solved. Some time is required for realization. I am too tired to explain everything today, but tomorrow I will surely do it.

Sorry, but your street by street EV differs from the SECT and your all in EV differs from HEM. I tested Beta2 for last year and this month date ranges with my Poker Stars player name. Does your street by street EV only include hands that went to showdown?

Will this ever be able to work with 45man Sngs?

We used formula for All-In EV calculations which was not correct for multiway pots. Now it is changed as well as help text. There is still a small difference because of different equilator settings we use.

We failed to run SECT. But we are sure that our algorithm of Street by Street calculations is the most accurate. There are a lot of moments we can differ from SECT: multiway pots, side pots, rake, upper limit of rake, rake in side pots, etc. It would be great, if you send us (beta@pokerchups.com) screenshot of SECT graph, and hands we can import into PT/HM. Later we will compare it and try to imitate, to tell you what the differences are.

Street by Street EV as well as Cooler Hunter EV takes Overall Winnings value for hands without showdown. Also all the graphs are calculated with rake. It allows you to compare each graph with Overall Winnings graph.

Wait, street by street EV cannot include non-showdown hands because you cannot know your percentage chance to win for any street in a hand that is not showdown.
