Bodog Bovada Hand Replayer Bodog Bovada Hand Replayer

I replied to a thread before where someone as asking for this and it was deleted, so I am posting again. If there is a reason why it was deleted, if a mod could let me know that would be great (I see many othere posts where people have created software that others can download).

Bovada and Bodog now let you download your hand history files that contain all hole cards for all players. None of the existing replayers can use this text file yet so I decided to code my own. It is still a work in progress and needs some more work, but it works great for tournament Hold Em hand histories. If anyone is interested the details for downloading are below. It is really interesting to see how and what the very bad players at bodog are playing.

Here is a link to the replayer. It is a zip file. To dowload, click on the link then go to the top of the page on the left side and click "File" then "Download". The installer will install Microsoft .NET libraries if they are not already installed on your mahcine.

Here is a link to one of my hand histories you can use if you have not downloaded any of your own.

Finally here is a screenshot of the main replayer. Some of the features are you can export to HTML (2p2 format is in the work). You can skip all hands except those you played in by selecting "Hero Action".

The software is free the only thing I ask is let me know any feedback.

If bodog decides to change the format of the text file (which they already did once while I was developing it), then it will break. Hopefully they will not do that.

Since my thread has not been deleted, I will post a link to the blog where updates will be found.

Just installed and tried it out. Works pretty well with cash HH's, looks great so far!

jhk, Thanks for doing this, pretty cool stuff and it works perfectly so far.

One suggestion if it's not too difficult... Could you assign the next action/hand buttons to keys on the keyboard? Much easier to navigate via keyboard. For me at least.

Just found a few hands where the board cards don't match up to the hand history.

Error Message: Unable to Install or run the application. The application requires that assembly Microsoft.Visualbasic.Powerpacks.VsVersion10.0.0.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache first.

That's my feedback so far

I made an update to the installer. You can download the new version again and it should work better. Thats what I get for coding while multi-tabling (and watching the Celtics and having adult beverages).

where I can download the hh files from bodog?

Log into the Bodog client software. Then go to account then the hand history tab then game transactions then select a date range. Then click on the tourneys you want to download, wait some time (how long is unknown - somtimes 5 minutes somtimes 1+ day), open them up when they become available and save.

Leave it to the Bodog designers to make it simple and straight forward.

Thanks, jhk.

Thank you, sir.

I'm having trouble with the install. It downloaded the Microsoft thingy the first time I tried to run it. Then fail. So I re-started my computer to see if that was it. Again fail. I get a window that says:

"Application cannot be started. Contact application vendor"

whenever I run the setup file.

Also, on the download page, there were 2 files that seemed identical, so one got re-named with a (1) on it. Just a heads up.

I re-downloaded the files and re-extracted them with 7-zip to make sure it wasn't an oversight on my end, but to no avail. The same message window pops up.

I looked for a readme, but when I try to open any of the text files, they just freeze the text viewer and I have to force the window to close.

Any thoughts?

Great Tool, thank you for making it. This thread needs more love.

I should be a frequent user of this, so if you need feedback and stuff, I will be glad to to discuss it.

Thanks vezmus. Just to be sure you have the latest version, the new link for the application can be found at: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/84483956/tpm.zip

You can always find the new updates, etc at: http://bodogreplayer.wordpress.com/

First impressions

The functionality is great. There's a bug or two on windows 7 but doesn't effect usage. The only feature I am missing is an auto play button that continuously executes the 'next action' command at regular intervals, with a slide bar for speed. You definitely put some thought into this though.

Appearance is too plain. I like the racetrack table, but the white background is too bright. The cards should be Larger and more attractive.

more later

Vezmus,

Thanks for the feedback. I did what I could with regards to your suggestions while recoding the app. The only real problem is I have zero graphic design capabilities (it took me 2 days to figure out how to make transparent images). I recoded the app to be generic and to be able to handle different hand histories. I have received a number of request for Lock/Cake, so I am adding that next.

If you you know anyone who can create bigger and nicer cards for me let me know as I am not capable of doing this (I liberated these from a public domain card image file) :-)

If this replayer takes off in any fashion, I may make a post on the programming section of the forum asking for some graphics help.

Also, I will add the autoplay to my enhancements list. Thats been asked for by a couple of people as well.

Just a note to anyone who is interested. I have released a new version of the hand replayer which now supports Lock/Cake hand histories. Merge network is next on my list then maybe Poker Stars (but since I can't play there maybe not).

It is still an early release and is still free.

I have also created a web site for the app at www.tournamentpokermanager.com

It currently only supports tournaments, but replaying cash games is on my list.

MODS: if you don't mind could you change the name of the thread to remove the Bodog Bovada part since the replayer is now supporting multiple sites - thanks.

Thanks jhk. Just to confirm, you don't have anything that will replay cash game hands now, correct?

Just a note about the updated bodog software (4.2.2). They changed the hand histories so you no longer know which seat you are in. This pretty much makes the whole Bodog replayer useless (but cake and merge work just fine). What is the point of a hand history if they dont tell you what seat you are.

I am hoping it is a bug, but even if it is, it will probably be the better part of a year before they fix it (it took their programmers 8 months to figure out how to check a check box).

I will probably update my replayer to just play the hand without knowing who the hero is in futile anticipation of a fix.

Do you think you could make software for cash games as well?

Also, I'm kind of a tinkerer and your application is pretty impressive, what programming languages/software did you use to make it? I'm pretty interested in making large scale applications, but I don't know how/where to start. None of my classes have really, but everything together. Any help would be great.

Bodog has fixed their hand histories (to my great surprise) and I have a new version of the application which will replay these new hand histories.

I have also updated the app for some changes Merge made to their hand histories as well.

The application will not play cash games (and the old version I had that does, is not working with the new hand histories). I do plan on releasing a cash replayer but need to find the time to do it.

Also Damayne, you can go to http://tournamentpokermanager.com/software to see the technology used in the application.
