I don't understand what the exact problem is or how you got there. Which upgrade are you referring to? If you have files in your SharpStats Cache folder, those files have already been imported. You don't need to import them again unless the upgrade you are referring to is from Beta 4 to Beta 5. When you click the Import button, what DOES happen? When you refresh one of the stats pages, does anything come up in the tables? If you click the Import Error radio button in the Database Editor, are there any hands there?

Give me some more information and I'll help you as best I can.

Thanks,

Because of the way that SharpStats handles import folders, each description must be unique. If you want to use two different folders for the same skin, just add a number after the name for the description. For example, if you already have a folder titled 'Cake', make the second one something like 'Cake2'. Also, I believe that you will get this warning if you leave the description field blank.

Hope this helps,

SharpStats Beta 6.0 is now available here.

New for this version:
-- Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo games are now separated for Merge hand histories
-- Re-enabled a trap in the Merge importer that I had accidently left disabled for testing purposes.
-- Added "equity by street" stats for all hands that went to showdown
-- New filter system is now up and running. Filter out your hands using up to 31 different criteria
-- Database, filter, folder, and displayed stats settings are all now saved in external files. No more need to re-enter the information for these every time you upgrade to a new version. Note that I haven't yet found a good way to store all of the dates and number box information, so you will still need to adjust these after an upgrade.
-- Importers upgraded to collect more information: pot size by street, hero's contribution to the pot by street, and equity information by street. Right now, only the equity by street is used, but I hope to get a new graph for all WTSD hands that gives you guys an idea as to how often you are "getting the money in good".

For those of you upgrading from Beta5, you will need to run the Beta 6 Update utility found under the Utilities main menu. This process will take a considerable amount of time, so make sure that you have enough time to let it run through before making the upgrade.

That's it for this version. Let me know if anybody has any questions, comments, complaints, or suggestions.

Thanks,

What's this mean? Is this good or bad, if we use this for Merge histories?

It means that if you were having problems with SharpStats crashing while importing Merge HHs, this should fix the problem. If you weren't having any problems before the update, you won't notice a difference.

Red,

last time i posted I was having problems getting the server set up and you told me this

Quote:
Yes. Go to Start-->Program Files-->PostgreSQL 8.3-->pgAdmin III
Near the top-left corner, you will see something similar to the following listed under Servers
PostgreSQL Database Server 8.3 (localhost:5432)
The information in parentheses is the Server and Port (127.0.0.1 is the equivalent of localhost)
If you double-click this line, you'll get a pop-up that says "Please enter password for user postgres on server ....". If you have a different user name shown, use that one for the database login information.
If you can enter a password in this pop-up and it gives you access to the server, but still can't get SharpStats to work correctly with the same information, let me know.

i don't want to take up all your time trying to just get my machine ready to run sharp stats, so can you refer me to some website or thread or something that has more in depth stuff or ppl that can help me. When I open pgAdmin III i have no servers ( it shows "Servers (0)")

thanks and hope to use your program soon

The easiest place to start would be the PostgreSQL documentation. Go to Start-->Programs-->PostgreSQL 8.3-->Documentation-->pgAdmin Help. If you can't find what you are looking for there, check out the PostgreSQL website at www.postgresql.org.

To add a server in pgAdmin, just go to the File-->Add Server... menu. In the pop-up window, give the server a name (any name will do), enter 'localhost' without the quotes for the Host, enter your password in the password field, and uncheck the Store password option. You can leave all of the other fields set to their default values.

Hope this helps,

Thank you very much for all your work on this, it's been working great for me until yesterday. I downloaded and installed the latest updated version, but now when I try to import hands it won't import any. I haven't changed anything, but it's just skipping all of my HH files when it tries to import.

Did you run the Beta 6 Update utility before trying to import?

Same problem still. I click Import Now, the Current File lists a couple of the HH files quickly, and then it says Import Complete. There should be on the order of 20k hands being imported, but I'm getting 0.

What type of HHs are you trying to import: Cake or Merge?

Are you trying to re-import old hand histories? Have you been able to import any new hand histories since you upgraded?

When you ran the Beta 6 Update utility, did you get any errors? About how long would you say it took to run through the upgrade process?

Sorry for all of the questions, but I'm trying not to make any assumptions that might prevent me from diagnosing the problem.

Thanks,

No errors while updating, and it took a few minutes to update. The hand histories are not old ones, they aren't being read and they aren't being moved to the processed HH folder. I haven't been able to import any more HH since I updated.

Still a server doesn't listen error.

It told me i need to make sure that the Postgresql is listening to all available Ip addresses and that I can enter "listen_addresses" in the postgres.conf file to correct this.

So I open the backend configuration editor on pdAdmin III to enter this code, but it immediately prompts me to open a file. I think its the postgresql.conf file i need to find, but I can't find it. Where is this file or what file do I need to open with this program???

thanks

Todd

Just an update on my status: I have uninstalled SharpStats Beta 6 and completely reinstalled it. The same problem is happening now. It looks like it's importing for a little bit, then it suddenly stops and says Import Complete. No hands have been imported, no HH files have been moved to the cache folder.

the problem appears to be with certain HH files. if I import a few files at a time, most of the time it works fine and hands are imported. Roughly 30% of my HH files, when trying to import them individually, will still produce this problem. I suspect it's some type of error with something happening in the text of the HH's, but I am not sure what.

That's definitely progress. Could you please send the problem hand histories to redlotus5@sbcglobal.net?

Just when I think that Cake can't screw up their hand histories any worse, they go out of their way to prove me wrong.

I think that I've found the cause and fixed it in the converter. Download Beta 6.1 and let me know how it works.

Also included in this version is a new stat called "Donk Factor." This is a measure of how much money you put into the pot when ahead. Despite the name, you want this number to be higher than your Net Win. Lastly, there are now two new graphs (one for cash games and one for tournaments) that show this new stat graphically.

Thanks,

Okay, that worked for almost all of the HH files that were causing problems. I have 17 HH files that are still counting 0 hands imported, and not being moved to the cache folder. Interestingly enough they are all from my session this morning. I've emailed 3 of the largest ones to you now.

Alright. Got those to run through successfully. Hopefully, Beta 6.2 squashes the last of the bugs in the Cake converter/parser.

This revision also fixes another problem. Unfortunately, previous versions were incorrectly collecting the data used by the Donk Factor stat in certain situations. If you don't care about this stat, you won't need to do anything. For those of you who are interested, I will try to get out another revision that includes a utility to correct the problems created by the faulty code. I apologize for missing this bug during my initial testing and I will try to have the new utility finished tomorrow or Wednesday.

Also, Anders' last post leads me to believe that something has been lost in the chaos of this thread. SharpStats will not move hand histories on the day that they are played. I did this on purpose to ensure that your hand history files never get damaged/destroyed by the program. The duplicate hand check also makes sure that you don't have any hands duplicated in your database. Lastly, SharpStats does not import hands from Lightning or Kamikaze hand histories. I didn't want them polluting anyone's stats, so I just had SharpStats skip over them. Since the new filter system is up and running, I could change this behavior if anyone is interested. Just let me know what you think.

Thanks,
