Saving trees in PIO. Need help!!

Hi folks, is anyone here familiar with saving trees in PIO solver. I saved my first one yesterday and it took up 1,111,111KB of space. I'm not a computer whizz but is that taking up too much space for one tree. I then saved it as a small tree which took up 158,611KB of space. Can someone tell me the difference between saving a full tree and small tree? Will it make a difference to the solve? And would I be better off buying a separate hard drive to save the trees to that? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
