Well, I'm just wanting "
half a loaf" which, in this case, would be a simple ranking without respect to which cards are upcards. This would have the effect of ignoring, for example, in Stud High when your
AhKh|7h is drawing slim due to upcards in opponents hands of Ac, Kd, 6h, Qh, Th, Js, and 7s. But it would also have the effect of ignoring when your cards are extremely live (eg., no A, K, Q, J, 7, or heart is showing) so it should balance out, to a certain extent. It would elevate hands that tend to dominate at the expense of hands that tend to be dominated, even when the dominated hand does not know this (since the upcards often do not show when a hand is in bad shape). I suspect hands like a 3-flush headed by only one high card (A or K or Q) would fall into the dominated category quite frequently.
Roll-out sims that reiteratively pit the "good hands" against other "good hands" would still have a lot of value, and might even contain some surprises. And in the particular case of Razz, I think that the hand ordering resulting from such reiterative sims would be highly useful indeed. But I see that you have a very long "to do" list and these sims should perhaps not be a priority.
