I've made some improvements with the performance, so hopefully this won't be a problem much longer.
Are these improvements going to be seen on v10?

I just downloaded v9, but I had the same HUD crash issues on v8. I haven't tried out 9 yet, should I wait?

I think this is a PokerStars issue... do you play on Full Tilt or Party? If so, does it happen on either of them?

Did I misunderstand?
What I meant was to create a custom statistic. See documentation here: http://www.pokertracker.com/products/PT3/docs/

Basically, instead of using the Amount Won stat that PT3 comes with, you'll create your own, nearly identical except for the summary format expression will be a simple space. That way, it won't show anything in the summary field. I hope that clears things up.

Any ideas?

It looks like you might be using Beta 8. Try Beta 9 and let me know how that works. Also, if possible, try another site (Party or Full Tilt) and see if it happens with them.

The PokerTracker.log file show show which file got this error. If you can attach the file that generated the error to a support ticket, I'll get the problem fixed.

Yes, the performance improvements will be in beta 10. If you haven't tried beta 9, give it a shot, as it seems to be good for most people.

PokerAce: It looks like the first application in that screenshot says Beta 9.

Jesus, I hadn't even seen you could do that. That looks phenomenally powerful. Just the ticket.

I actually also figured I could just remove all the amount won fields from every page, and the create a custom report to get my hands for a day which just has pot size, rather than net winnings.

I'm guess I'm just going to have to avoid the sessions tab for now, so that I don't accidentally catch a glimpse of the graph! Unless there is some way ot hide that, that I haven't discovered yet?

Thanks for your help. Now, don't let me bother you anymore and good luck for hitting your mid-May target.

Yeah, it sure does. My bad. I think I fixed this problem for the next version.

Custom stats are extremely powerful. I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with once you get the hang of it.

Sorry, there's no way to hide the session graph. Not yet anyway.

Okay, how do I get the HUD stats to display properly. They always display in the same spot and I'm too stupid to figure out on my own how to fix this so I need some assistance. The realtime HUD I use right now lets me pick by my preferred seat?

It seems that Beta 9 has killed performance for me. 12 tabling with HUD and on a 3.1Duo2 and 8 GB mem aint enough for PT3 now

refresh button = 10 second hang + 0.2% crash chance
Any button = 10 second hang + crash chance

i hope there is a quick fix, as trying this beta has cost me $$$

unreal how this junk beta has crashed 10 times in 1 hour.. guess what it crashed.. sigh.. getting expensvie this testing lark is for me

I realize you have more important things to do ATM, but just a feature in the HUD I would like to see in the future is filter since a specific date (if it's possible)

Are you using the "Sit Here" feature, or have you configured a preferred seat using the preferred seat options? If it's the latter, PT3 should automatically recognize it.

These performance issues should be resolved for the most part in the next beta.

I'll take this into consideration.

I know pacific is actually not supported but when it is, do we need a handgrabber or is PT able to get the files itself?
04-27-2008 , 09:51 AM
Since the HUD finally came out I started testing PT3. I was just fiddling around with the HUD layout, all seemed fine, only to see PT3 crash and shutdown when I try to save my new, custom made, HUD layout. Restarted PT3, launched the HUD, and it was back at it's default again. Tried this 3 times, same result every time .

Can't I change the HUD settings yet or something?

You can. I'm sure they'd appreciate if you replicated the problem and attached the pokertracker.log file to a support ticket on www.pokertracker3.com

I can't say for sure, but our goal is to make each site support as painless and transparent to you as possible.

Try doing it incrementally, and see if it's any changes at all, or only certain ones that cause the crash. Please let me know the result.

It would be so good if the hud layout config file was in a human readable format.

next beta release? :-)

Hey PokerAce, finally installed the latest beta with the HUD. A question though........

I play on pstars and I noticed that certain stats for an opponent are only tracked if you are in the hand against the opponent. for example the showdown stats such as went to showdown and % showdown won, when looking at the opponent, there are numbers only posted when you go to showdown against that opponent? Shouldn't it track all the opponents and how they have done at showdown regardless of whether you are at the showdown with them or not? Otherwise it seems as i this stat is useless since it's not getting the "whole" picture

I played a few hands on party too, and the exact same thing happened.
04-27-2008 , 04:22 PM
Another question......does the HUD display stats based on ALL hands for a particular opponent in the database or just for the hands being played for that session? And is there a way to toggle between the two?
04-27-2008 , 04:39 PM
The following happens to me frequently:
- Go to Tournaments / Enter Results
- Mark the tournament I just busted out of as SnG (2 Table), enter other information, click Save
- Come back out to Texas Holdem / Tournaments
- Hit Refresh
- The latest tournament is now marked with a Table Type of N/A
- Go back to Tournaments / Enter Results
- Sure enough, now it's N/A
- Repeat
- Eventually it seems to actually remember the Table Type.

My latest hypothesis (untested) is that when the importer sees a new hand in the tournament (since I still have it up), it resets the Table Type.

hmmmmm, seems to be working now...........tracked a few peope who went to showdown even when i wasn't involved in the hand and it shows the stats being updated. I thought I saw some others go to showdown and the stats didn't update. Will watch it more closely and let you know.........

The showdown stats do track hands that went to showdown, regardless of if you were involved in the hand or not. If you find a hand that's not doing this, please attach it to a support ticket so I can get it fixed.

Yes, it shows stats based off all the hands you have on a player. If you hover over a stat, the tooltip will show the value for the current session.

Your hypothesis is likely correct. I'll take a look at it.

Pokerace, can you tell me how "AF" aggression factor is calculated? It looks to be on some sort of scale from 0 to x?

Also, for my own stats on the HUD..........for any given session it only shows the total number of hands in that session as opposed to the aggregate of my stats in the database. Is this by design?

So when I have tried to install the PostgreSQL with this version, I get an error message that says:

Failed to run initdb: 1!
Please see the logfile in 'C:\Program
Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\tmp\initdb.log'
04-27-2008 , 05:39 PM
Then when I continue on for the heck of it I get another error message:

Unable to create PostgreSQL database: PT3 Beta DB1
Reason: Unable to login to database (template 1). Reason:
could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061)
Is the server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCP/IP
connections on port 5432?

Please provide some advice. Thanks very much.

Pokerace, i don't see a "Fold PFR" statistic available yet you have a "Call PRF" stat available. Could you create one for Fold PFR (Fold Pre-flop Raise) stat? Or if it's under a different name could you let me know? Thanks.
