My son's birthday party is this afternoon, so the release is going to have to wait until this evening. Probably sometime after 6 PM EST. I'm aware that this will likely inconvenience some people due to differing timezones (they will hit the expiration time before I release), and I apologize for that, but I don't have time to do the release before I have to leave.

guys. seriously. Let Josh have a life for a day or two. We can all live without the HUD for a little bit longer, and we don't need someone posting ZOMFG NEED HUD NOWNOWNOWNOW every five minutes.

question......at this point do you aniticipate any more changes to the database schema prior to final release? i.e. additional tables/columns?
04-12-2008 , 02:25 PM
if there are need to have database change
please add export Tournment summary feature, and on new built, import tournment summary.
i finish update all my tourny, then new built, fill it up again, then new built.....i can't take it anymore......take 3hr to fill it each time.

Yes, there will be more database changes before the commercial release.

I will try to have the tournament export ready by the time the database changes occur.

nice... just woke up and PT3 isn't responding... show up here and get the facts... actually i have some remodel stuff i should be doing anyways... i can wait to play...

enjoy your son's birthday! the finest reason of all! wish my children weren't all grown and gone and i still had birthdays in the house too...

I hope you're enjoying your son's birthday party.

When you get back I was wondering about the hands that I'm playing right now. The last beta won't open (I'm assuming it's expired) yet I'm logging some hands now before the next beta is released.

When I "begin auto import" in the next beta will it automatically import all of these hands? Or would I be better off requesting the hand histories and manually importing...

Auto-import should pick them up when you start it next time, so you shouldn't have any problems.

Beta Version 8 Released

Download!

Added:
  • Hud!
  • Message to Vista users when installing PostgreSQL (SP1 notification)
Fixed:
  • Problem with reports erroring out
  • Sessions - By Time summary
  • PokerStars Vista issues
  • PT3 locking up at start

This is the release a lot of you have been waiting for. That's right, the Hud is now publicly available. I know it's taken longer than we anticipated. That's because I was experimenting with new methods. Unfortunately, the best method I found still needs more work than I can afford to spare at the moment, so I've gone to a less desirable, but functional, method. Anyway, the Hud is here. It's not as feature rich as I would have liked for the initial public unveiling, but it's probably best this way. Start with a simple foundation, fix the bugs in that, then add features. That results in a much better product.

PT3 strays from PA Hud's method of single stat placement. Instead, it uses stat groups. These are similar to PA Hud's combined stats, but are far more flexible and powerful. For instance, you can have stats back to back, or you can align them in a grid. While not currently available, you'll be able to add other items to the group as well (specialized items, like a Notes trigger or whatever, other groups... the possibilities are practically endless). I also have some big plans for popup stats, which are currently absent from the Hud, but will be available soon. If you prefer PA Hud's method of doing things, you can certainly emulate it by allocating one stat per group, as you are not restricted to the number of groups you have. I feel though, that if you give the groups a chance (you can put four stats in a 2x2 grid and right align them for a very clean look), you'll find that you like them better.

Notable things currently missing from the Hud:

1. Popup stats.
2. Import/Export functionality.
3. Color ranges.
4. Filters.
5. Table list, active player lists/information in the tracker.
6. Stats on the Replayer.
7. Polish (transparency, translucency, some formatting options, etc.)

All of these things will be available soon. Like I said, the Hud isn't as far along as I'd like, but this should give you a good idea of what the final Hud will look and feel like. I should note that not too much effort has gone into optimizations. Things like hand ranges haven't been added, but will, and should make PT3 use fewer resources. That being said, I can have 12 Full Tilt tables running on my three year old laptop with PT3 auto-importing and the Hud running with very little to no noticeable lagging. I think you'll be pleased with the speed of the Hud.

Unfortunately, because I've been so focused on the Hud, I haven't had a chance to get to unrelated bug fixes and features. I hope to make up for that in the next beta, by improving tournament support and eliminated most of the known bugs. New sites will be coming soon, hopefully within two weeks. Speaking of which:

HAND HISTORIES ARE NEEDED

We need loads of hand history files if we want to get them done right. According to PokerScout, the next three sites we will be adding support for are:
  • iPoker
  • OnGame
  • Everest
We need hand histories for these sites, and all types: limit, no limit, pot limit, MTT, SnG, even some play money to help distinguish. For sites such as OnGame, we need the .db files as well as hand history files that may have been generated by other software (such as PT2, or datamining applications). The more hands we get, the better for you, as it will mean fewer bugs. If you want to help out, zip up these hand histories and attach them to a support ticket. Please make sure the zipped file is smaller than 5mb or it will fail to attach. Also, if you have histories from UltimateBet, Boss Media or Bodog, send those our way too, as they will follow shortly after.

I appreciate your patience with us while we work to make PT3 the best we can. We are way behind our initial schedule, but we have a good product and we owe a big thanks to those of you who help us test. Keep the comments and suggestions coming, and please be sure to let us know of any problems you have with the Hud.

^ has never used a HUD of any type before

When I try to open PT3 it says "unable to open" because "a version of pokertracker3 is already running"

The problem is, I don't have pt3 running and I can't tell how to close it or anything. I even tried control alt delete to view what applications I had open and close it that way but it didn't list pokertracker as one of the one's I had open.

Any ideas?

User should be "postgres" (without quotes), unless you are an PostgreSQL veteran - and if you were, you'd know how to fix this problem!

Do not change the PostgreSQL superuser account name unless you know what you are doing and why.

I believe thats not the problem because I have postgresQL installed because of pokertracker 2, and checked the PostgrsQL settings tab in PT2 and it says
server: localhost
user: Timmehhh
