Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 6 Release - 08-Mar-2008)

Random question

Ok say I'm 8 tabling and I have hand I want to mark for review. Will I be able to just click on something to red flag it or can I also make a note for the review i.e. What is his hand range or what his stats are etc etc?

Yes, you'll be able to flag the hand through the HUD, as well as add notes.

OK. I must be stupid. When I filter data....say for a specific date I get the message "you need to save before your changes can be seen in the report. Would you like to save your changes?" I click yes. I then get the message "you must choose at least one statistic for the report". I just click "OK" and everything seems like it filters ok. This is under "filters" and not reports.

When I clear the filter I get the same error msgs.

Edit: I closed and reopened PT3 and it seems OK for now.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 6 Release - 08-Mar-2008)

i'm new on this filter stuff
so bare with me
how do i do this.
1) money take down via bluff/cbeting - money lost vis bluff/cbeting
2) value bet won - value bet gone wrong
3) steal blind successfully + steal blind, won with attemp to defend - failure to steal= +/- $

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 6 Release - 08-Mar-2008)

PT3 doesn't have a way to determine if you're bluffing. The best you can do is to filter on your actions. You can filter for continuation bets, then look at the hands. Value bets aren't filterable either, as PT3 looks at the actions, not the intent. Blind steals are easy to filter by, just check the option that matches what you want to find.

Technically, you could probably use the custom stats to indicate value betting vs bluffing (looking at the holdem_hand_player_combinations table to determine your current hand value). Check out the documentation on our site if that's something you're interested in pursuing.

Ace - This is really neat software. Very cool to use. You know what would be really interesting. If you could put the statistics for each player on the poker site next to their seats like some of the software I've seen displayed in some videos. Now that would be really cool, so I don't have to toggle back and forth from the poker site to your software. You could make alot of money on that I think.

I usually average about 130h/sec.

This is one of my databases (not even my biggest one).

I'm importing some FT datamined files.

Sup?

Can you send me your PokerTracker.log file (located in your main PokerTracker 3 directory) via the Support system so that I can take a look into this. Are these hand histories or text files exported from PT2?

Best regards,

Derek

I am not a youngster who understands this lingo very well. Some poker players are actually older than 21 (or in my case, much older). I take it though that "level" means sarcasm. So no, its not a "level" if I take your meaning.

Where would I find this application? Does it go with poker tracker 2 (which I assume is already out)? Is it worth waiting for poker tracker 3 to be perfected before buying it? I'm certainly going to buy one of these because they are fun to use.

And this is not a "level." And where the heck did that term ever come from?

"Youngster" hasn't got much to do with this, "lingo" does. Levelling is a term that has it's origin in pokerliterature. When you are thinking a level deeper than your opponent (eg. you think about what he thinks what you think his hand is) you are in effect "levelling" him. So "sarcasm" could be another way to describe it, in the context of posting on 2+2.

To your, not sarcastic, post: there is such a tool for PT2, written by PokerAce . It's called PokerAce HUD (as in Heads Up Display).
I believe if you buy this now you'll get the price of PAHud as full discount on the finished PT3+HUD combo. So, if you already like PT3 and are 99.99% sure you'll buy that, there's almost no risk in buying PAHud now and taking advantage of its features

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 6 Release - 08-Mar-2008)

Would it be in any way possible to re-release beta5 with extended expiration time, because beta6 freezes when importing every time after a few minutes? I'm already so used to the AHK-HUD and the customizable stats support it has that I wouldn't want to go back to PT2/PAHUD (I've filed a support ticket with log files but would like to keep on playing until it's fixed)

Thanks. I like that levelling description. Makes sense. One more question - if I buy the PT2HUD and then PT3+HUD is released, will I be able to import all the data I have built up with PT2 to the new software? I assume the answer is yes (although figuring out how to do that may present me with some challenges), but I suppose I should ask. If the answer is yes, then I'm going to just do it because this software is cheap compared to the enjoyment of using it and the possible benefits. Really quite neat stuff.

And another question (perhaps PokerAce can answer these) - what will the benefits to this upgrade from 2 to 3 be (in a general way - I don't need a real technical answer, just something that it explains some general benefits to the casual user?)

I appreciate the cogent response you gave.

Rather than re-releasing an older version, I'd like get the new bugs fixed. I can sympathize with your problem, but this is beta software, and the point of the beta test is find and fix the bugs. If you've entered a support ticket, I will get to it soon. I'm out of town at the moment, so I have limited time, but should be able to get to it early next week.

As long as you save your hand history files or have PT2 save them in the database, PT3 will be able to extract all your information.

As for benefits of PT3 over PT2, here are a few:

1. MUCH faster. Imports are faster, retrieves are faster.
2. More capable. PT3 can house over 23 million hands and still function at a reasonable speed. PT2 struggles with 1 million.
3. More user friendly. PT3 looks nicer and is easier to work with and has less configuring required.
4. Custom stats/reports. Want some strange obscure stat? Make it yourself. Then add it to any report you'd like, or even make your own completely custom report.
5. Advanced filtering. PT3 has much more detailed filtering available.
6. Integrated HUD. Having the HUD built in, rather than a separate application means less resources used and faster response times.

I could go on, but as you can see, there are plenty of reasons for upgrading to PT3 from PT2.

Guess it got hung up on some file. It does that sometimes.

I restarted the program and it started.

Sometimes it will hang after importing a couple million hands.

I'll just end the process and clean out the hands that were just imported.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 6 Release - 08-Mar-2008)

I have a question about the customizable stats. In the spirit of full disclosure, I haven't played with the latest beta yet, so if the answer is in there and obvious please say so and I'll go play with it

I'd like to be able to define a `volatility' statistic - that is, a statistic that indicates how capable a given villain is at varying his play. So, lets say I have 5000 hands on villain - I'd like to be able to do something like - divide this up into 100 hand chunks, compute VPIP/PFR for those chunks, compute how many std deviations they are away from the 5000 hand averages, and codify this in a single 'volatility' number.

Obviously I havent thought this through too much yet, but is/will something like this be possible in PT3?

The problem with killing the process during an import is sometimes the session stats get out of sync with the player stats. Whenever you encounter a lockup or crash, please check the PokerTracker.log file and see the last file it tried to import. Then attach that file to a support ticket on our site so we can fix the problem.

This is not currently possible in PT3, though it could be done using a hard-coded function. I'm considering adding a scripting language to PT3 so that anything you can imagine can be done. Though I think that might have to wait until after the commercial release.

No, I read the first page, but alot of it is in computerese shorthand. I'm suggesting that his webpage be a bit less geeky for the good of those of us that don't understand technical terms.
