Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 5 Release - 27-Feb-08)

Will the HUD have a capability of displaying/switching between stats for specific sessions and overall?

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 5 Release - 27-Feb-08)

Is there anyway to get the Sessions to update automatically (to see what $ you are up or down as you play).

The only way I have found how to do this is to set Sessions by time, then manually hit Refresh at the top right every time. Which normally casues it to lag (i don't do this every 5 seconds so it has to load a good amount of hands since i play 4-6 tables)

I don't think that is feasible. The program imports each hand as it occurs. Doing what you ask here would require refreshing the stats page for each hand imported. That would cause major software lag.

How does PT3 calculate session time? It says I had one session of $200NL this morning at 0.25 hours and a later session of $100NL at 0.72 hours, but unfiltered they totaled 1.08 hours. What?

Are you sure that your sessions were not 0.35 hours or 0.82 hours?

0.25 + 0.82 = 1.07
0.35 + 0.72 = 1.07

0.01 difference likely caused by rounding error.

Doesn't PT2 do that? I've used RealtimeHUD for so long I can't remember. but I'm pretty sure I used to chill on PT2 in a small window to check my progress (simply CTRL+Click all of my sessions and it would automaticly update, as far as I can remember.....

Yes but PT2 was only updating the DB once every minute at most and the program would hang while importing and while updating the stats. PT3 updates every time a HH is written.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 5 Release - 27-Feb-08)

it does not work yet.

i've been having issues where pgsql will crash in the middle of my sessions and will render ahk and pt3 unstable, crashing my system and forcing me to fold aces and stuff. pokertracker.log simply gives me messages about being unable to connect to the db, and when i reboot my computer, that's when pt3 hangs (there is no data included in pt.log for some reason; it just gives me the first line of the log and then a bunch of blank space).

First thing, the flop cards don't appear in the 'hand popup'. I didn't have this problem in beta 3 or 4

Also, the filter by player in the hand or player at the flop don't work for me.

I thought I read before that PT3, when importing hands, will check if there is more info such as known hole_cards, in the case where an observed hand of my own was imported previously.

If that is true, it does not appear to be working for me.

Positive. I can take screenshots if anyone would like. It's kinda bugging me.

There, I took some screenshots. Ignore the 14:01 session. The top is 200NL, the middle is 100NL, and the bottom is unfiltered. I see now that it's counting them both as one session even though there are 7 minutes in between. After how many minutes is it considered a new session?

I feel stupid for not realizing it was counting that extra seven minutes. Sorry about that, but still curious.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 5 Release - 27-Feb-08)

Will there be a version available that limits the trackings to nl 50 but has a reduced price? Holdem Manager offers a 55 dollar version with ace hud included that can only track until nl 50 with the option of updating later on for an extra 25 dollars. FWIW I think this would be a wise move, as I know for me personally, my decision is based highly on this discount for the limited version.

I was planning to go with PT3, even though the creators themselves stated that ATM holdem manager is a better program, because I felt confident that PT3 will be better in the long run, however after reading of this HM promotion Im not quite sure.

This is a known issue where it shows the clustering is complete before it is actually finished. We are looking into this and will get it resolved for a future release.

This is a known issue with Beta 5 where it is subtracting the rake twice from your net amount. This will be resolved for the next beta release.

I am not sure. This is certainly a neat option that we will have to explore...thanks for the suggestion.

Currently this is the only method. We will be adding filtering by time shortly so that you can filter since the start of the session then you will be able to view only your most recent session stats in the General tab.

We will also be adding an option that will auto-refresh the stats on the import so that you do not need to continually click the 'Refresh' button.

Best regards,

Derek

Does this ever happen if you are not running AHK HUD? PT3 will not crash your system; however, AHK HUD could certainly do that and there are some people complaining of issue in our forums where AHK HUD is maxing out the CPU and doing this...

Interesting. We will look into this issue. I have added it to our bug list, thanks.

Please replicate this problem then send us the PokerTracker.log file (located in your main PokerTracker 3 directory) via the Support system so that we can troubleshoot the issue and get it resolved.

That is correct. If you imported an observed hand then later imported the same hand but you were dealt into the hand then PT3 should update the hand information stored in the database.

If this is not working properly, can you please send me an example observed and played hand history so that I can try to replicate the problem? Please attach them to a Support ticket.

It is not considered a new session until after 30 minutes.

Your session is from 00:56 to 02:00 which is 64 minutes long (accuracy only to the minute). 64/60 = 1.067 ~= 1.07. Add in the accuracy to the second and it is quite possible to increase this to 1.08.

At the moment, we have not yet decided.

I am sure that you have misunderstood us. We have never stated that HM is better then PT3; quite the contrary. We feel PT3 is much, much better than HM. We have stated that HM currently has a larger feature set since it has been around longer. We are decreasing this deficit very quickly and the tables will be turned soon.

Best regards,

Derek

maybe/probably asked before, but can you set the auto-import speed somehow? i don't need it importing every half a second

You can't change the speed of the imports, but why would you want to? It automatically imports as soon as the hand is played which for instance means that the HUD will be able to show stats instantly. Also, it shouldn't be very CPU or Harddrive intensive, so I don't really know why you would want to change it.

Remember, it's not like it updates and caches the whole list of stats every half a second, since you need to click the "refresh" button to do this. Eventually, I think they will add an optional timer for auto-refresh as well.

that's why I would have wanted to change it - I just assumed it would be pretty HDD intensive. thanks for correcting me

Does this ever happen if you are not running AHK HUD? PT3 will not crash your system; however, AHK HUD could certainly do that and there are some people complaining of issue in our forums where AHK HUD is maxing out the CPU and doing this...
AP10, read this again please.

There is no way that AHK HUD is causing PGSQL to crash, the only way it could do so is if psql.exe distributed with postgres is bugged (possible, very unlikely). This would be the first time I've ever heard of AHK HUD crashing PGSQL. There are people having trouble with high CPU usage causing lag certainly - but never crashing the postgres service.

AHK HUD can indeed max out a CPU if you let it - which may well be exposing hardware faults causing PGSQL to crash, but I doubt that also.

Of course if PGSQL goes down mid session, PT3 and AHK-HUD will both become "unstable" (i.e. totally non-functional) - in this case, AHK-HUD may well start burning CPU cycles trying to get a response from postgres but I suspect it is the opposite, it *should* just get stuck awaiting query responses and do almost nothing.

At a guess I suspect this is a possible hardware problem or a configuration issue with postgresql.conf - pg_max_connections set too low or something?

Mark'd - please enable postgresql connection logging (in postgresql.conf) and see if that gives you any useful info - or have a look in windows "event viewer" and see why PGSQL is crashing.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 5 Release - 27-Feb-08)

FWIW, PT3 seems to handle fine with this problem -- it gives me recurring errors saying connection to db lost, which seems like that's what it's supposed to do. My computer just starts freaking out when it happens, which is rather alarming. I posted the PGSQL error messages in the software thread.

You can't filter by that information at this time. Hopefully in the next beta.

You are confusing my non-technical talk...

If AHK HUD were to max out the CPU it could cause lag which could timeout new PT3 connections and would appear to most people as 'crashing' PostgreSQL although technically it is not crashing...

(A lot of could have, would have's )
