Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 5 Release - 27-Feb-08)

Guys am I missing something here -- I just downloaded this version of PT for first time and I don't see a summary tab. I want to go to the page that lists everyones hands/profit/etc but I can't find it...

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 5 Release - 27-Feb-08)

hi,
is there a way to improve the speed of loading after applying a filter or changing the tab? my cpu usage is about 5% but its still loading verry slowly.
are 700k hands to many for one database? or is sql 8.2 too slow?
its really annoying to wait like 5 minutes for each tab.
thank you

The summary tab is inactive at the moment but it'll be coming back. With Beta 5 though, you can easily achieve this by making a report that lists all hands, players and the stats you're interested in.

Eh, is there any other place to download the AHK HUD than PT3 forums? I've waited for the activation e-mail for hours, even after requesting a resend, and no it's not in my junk folder.

someone host it and PM me or something, danke

I'm wanting to replay all the hands in order of final pot size without having to click back and just see them grouped by starting values. Final pot would be better than $ won/lost b/c it would keep an unbiased opinion if I can't remember what happened in the hand.
You're referring to the Play All button that lets you load all the hands into the replayer? I've just updated things so you will be able to use that in the next version.

There's no auto-refresh setting yet, but it is planned.

First, you should cluster after any significant import (every 50k hands or so). Vacuum and analyze more often than that. It shouldn't take 5 minutes for each tab.

New sites support will begin immediately after the HUD is released, which will hopefully be in 2-3 weeks.

I've asked Derek to look into why you haven't received your forum confirmation. Just to be safe, submit us a support ticket and he'll be sure to reply.

sry, too lazy to read hundreds of posts. i'm very new to pokertracker, was thinkin of buyin pokertracker 2 but when i saw 3 in beta, thought i should wait. Does pokertracker 3 have omaha hi/lo support yet, if not, when will it be implemented? Also can u gimme 3 reasons why this is a better software than holdem manager (which I haven't yet figured out how to install postgres databases for)

did all the things but its still very slow, for example it takes 162 seconds when i click on the hands tab to load the tab comletly. i have a dual core processor, which is fast enough for all other things i do. would uprading to postgres 8.3 help to speed it up?
thank you

PT3 does not support Omaha. That will come later this year.

You're asking me to open a big can of worms here, you realize that don't you?

Here's a few benefits that I can see:

1. PT has been around more than 5 years now, with a solid reputation. We have experience in this market, and with poker players. We know what to expect and how to deal with it. We aren't a couple of guys doing this on the side. This is our only job, and we do it well.

2. PT3 is faster. People are reporting import speeds several TIMES faster than what HM is getting. Retrieval times seem be faster too, though I don't think anyone has done a direct comparison with this. Our database was designed to be be fast.

3. I personally feel PT3 is more aesthetically pleasing. Things look nicer, and data is layed out in a very intuitive manner. Want to see how well you do UTG? Simply click the Positions tab.

I'll admit that right now, HM is ahead of PT3. It has more features than we do. That's because they have about a 8-9 month head start on us. We are catching up quickly and I expect in a few months that PT3 will surpass it in features. PT3 is also in beta right now. It doesn't cost you a dime to use, so I suggest giving it a shot and see what you think. Just keep in mind that there will be many more features added soon.

Let me make it clear that I AM NOT interested in starting an HM vs PT3 war here. He asked a specific question and I gave my opinions, which were not negative or derogatory.

Yes, PostgreSQL 8.3 would speed things up significantly. Let me ask you, are you using any filters, or is this unfiltered data?

I'm still using PostgreSQL 8.2.x too, do I need to take any special precautions before updating to the latest version? How should I proceed; I just download the latest binary installer, and that's it, or...?

Sorry for turning this into Postgres support thread

So does this mean that PT3 will eventually support the other games? Or will the Current versions of PT for Omaha and Stud games be upgraded to newer versions similar to PT3 for holdem?

I ask because I am interested in playing the other games as well with the use of PT.

Also, would there be a HUD for those games with their versions of PT?

And is the development for support for Stud also planned for later this year?

from what I gather, PT3 will support other games, and there's no separate software anymore (PT3 omaha, PT3 stud, etc.)

Unfortunately, upgrading from 8.2.x to 8.3 isn't that simple. You need to dump all your 8.2.x databases, uninstall 8.2.x, then install 8.3 and restore your databases.

We plan on porting PT Omaha and PT Stud to the new software. We're hoping this will be available later in the year.

Turns out our mail server went down. We're working on getting it up as we speak, so you should get your email before too much longer.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 5 Release - 27-Feb-08)

Okay, I feel like a moron, but I've been playing around w this for a while and making no headway. I've been eagerly anticipating build 5 as I want to examine my stats in detail, esp. against others' stats. I've read through the posts since build 5 was released, and read the documentation, to no avail.

I'm trying to figure out how to display the undisplayed stats.

For instance, say I want to have cbet flop% on permanent display. I go to the 'customize' tab -- configure stats -- player statistics -- statistics -- cbet flop -- now what? If I hit apply, it saves it, but nothing new appears on my player statistics window. What am I missing?

Also, I see a category for 'donk river' and 'donk turn' but not 'donk flop' -- is this something that was overlooked or is it termed something else?

Thanks in advance for your help...

Right, I don't even know what dumping means, looks like I'll stick with 8.2 for now, haha
Edit: is that just the "backup database" feature in PT2?

If you want to add the stat to an existing report, click on the small button to the right of the report with a wrench on it. From there, a window will appear. The left side of the window has a list of all the available statistics. The right side has a list of all the stats currently in the report. Simply find the stat you want to add, double-click it, position it using the move up/down buttons, and hit apply. Your changes will be saved and the stat will appear every time you start PT3.

The stat list isn't complete. Many stats will be added.

Yes, PT2 does a dump of your database as it's backup feature. PT3 doesn't have this functionality yet, but will before too much longer.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 5 Release - 27-Feb-08)

One more question/observation: I have a bunch of duplicated player names in the player column on the left, some of which are duplicated like 5 times. The especially weird thing is that the stats on each iteration of the same name are wildly different. Anyone else have this problem?

This was fixed in beta 5. You'll need to start a new database and re-import your hands for it to show.

browsed thread since 2-21 and have not found anyone having issues with website being squished into the margins. When I use firefox everything looks like this.

with all the stuff squished into the right.

If I go to site in IE it will not load. any ideas on why this is happening?

Last edited by Mr_Pathetic; 02-27-2008 at 02:16 PM. Reason: IE doesn't load any site so disregard that.
