This just isn't possible. If PT3 converted your PT2 database, you must have had the hand histories stored in the database.

As of right now, it is impossible to multitable both, say, Limit Holdem and No Limit Holdem at the same time without either:
a) enabling the Show Stats From Current Limit Only filter
b) not using the filter and potentially mixing LHE and NLHE stats

Option a) brings with it a host of other inefficiencies - despite the fact that the Player Ranges filter sorts out stats based on the number of players in the hand, 6max and full ring hands are still classified as different "limits" for the purposes of the filter. Ideally, I would want all of my shorthanded information when I was playing at a 9max or 10max table that had several empty seats, but this filter separates the two. Also, I often base my play for each game across two different stakes and often run into the same opponents, so I would be losing data with this filter on.

Option b) may work okay in practice as few other players will regularly play both games, but in theory, it is kind of stupid that a HUD would even allow you to mix stats from games as different as LHE and NLHE. I would be surprised if any PT owners would find value in mixing statistics from these two entirely different games, and I certainly don't see any.

It seems like the solution would be for a HUD to sort out different games by default (or at least separate limit games from big-bet games; I would probably want to combine my PL and NL stats as applying to either of those games while keeping Limit separate, perhaps leave this up to the user?), regardless of whether or not the Current Limit Only filter was in place. This would solve this problem beautifully and seems like a common-sense approach to any HUD.

The best I can do for now is to keep separate databases for each game, keep the Current Limit Only filter off, and never play the two games concurrently, which creates a lot of dead time in the middle of a multitabling session if I decide to switch games.

Is there anybody else out there who is frustrated by this (I realize few players would regularly play LHE and NLHE simultaneously)? Does the improved HUD in PT3 address this inefficiency?
I plan on having the ability to filter by NL/PL/Limit, as well as by limit - ignoring any 'X max' qualifiers. The new HUD will be much more flexible and powerful than PA Hud currently is.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

Will filtering by (effective?) stack depth be possible for NL games?

And will game times be stored with the current time zone now, so that games played on sites using different server/hand history time zones don't appear to be hours apart when they're actually minutes apart? (I noticed this yesterday in PT2 when playing on william hill and full tilt at the same time.)

goofy and anyone else worried about space:

1) DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. NEITHER I NOR PT3 SUPPORT THIS, IT IS ONLY A SUGGESTION AND GO FORWARD ONLY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Anyways, if you are even remotely literate with computers then just go to C:/ Program Files/ Postgresql / 8.2(or w/e you have installed) / data / pg_log.

What there is in there is a bunch of log files from PG/PT3's imports. It sometimes takes up a couple GB of mine so I delete them quite frequently.

DO NOT DELETE PG_CLOG, only files in PG_log folder.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

I have a problem when I tried reviewing some hands. It has all the data I click on my own name including when i press the hands tab, but for some reason when I click on other people only the stats come up and when I click the hands tab it is either completely blank or has a select few hands. I made sure there are no filters so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Sorry if this has been brought up already, but the thread is so long that it'll be a mission to read.

Stack sizes, bet sizes, and pot sizes are all being stored in the database, so it is possible to use this information in stats and filters.

PT3 stores all dates in the database in the UTC timezone. So regardless of what timezone the hand history has in it, your hands will display to you in your local time.

The "Hands" tab only shows data if the hole cards of the hand are known. So you'll only see information on these if they went to showdown.

Try entering your registration code again. If that doesn't work, let us know through our support system.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

I opened PT3 and it's been about 20 mins and the player column still says loading...

I did a full vacuum today and yesterday I did a cluster/analyze (which took several hours).

I prob have 6 million hands or maybe a few more.

I'm only using 7% CPU and I have 1300mb of RAM free.

Is PT designed to handle 6 million hands? How about 106 million hands?

My data folder is about 85gb.

Thanks.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

So I went to defrag my comp and noticed my HD keeps shrinking.

I had 15gb free or so.

Now it's down to 2gb and I haven't imported anything all day.

Nothing else is using HD now.

What's up?

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

I was forced to end the task and my HD went from 1gb free to 16 INSTANTLY.

The only filter I have set is Date: After Feb 01.

My Data folder is only 74gb now (was 88 few mins ago).

I'll try to get on this soon, I'm actually on vacation for a week so I just have my laptop and a much smaller subset of hand histories. If I can't duplicate it it'll have to wait until next week.

...but if this wasn't clear, it was ALL the hands. I had 62,000 hands of 1/2 NL or whatever it was marked as "NL $1000", and 40,000 more hands of whatever game marked as "$20 CAP NL" which I've never played. If this problem hasn't been reported before then I doubt a few HHs will clear anything up, since it's not like hundreds of ks of my HHs have errors in them.

Try disabling that filter. We have run across something like this before, and I believe we found it to be a problem in how PostgreSQL is handling the SQL. If you create a support ticket on our site, Derek can help you through it (he doesn't read this thread very often).

Did you happen to do a purge before importing these hands? If you can reproduce it, that would be very useful.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

Good news is PT3 imports faster than HM on my pc. (About 3 minutes for 32 000 played hands vs 8).

Bad news is, the hand replayer sucks just as bad as that on HM and whoever makes their hand player best shall get my monies(and my friends monies).

The current PT3 replayer is basically a placeholder. It will be improving dramatically.

If you do nothing else, please make it bigger... at least the size of the PT2 replayer

Yeah, it's increasing to about the size of a standard online poker table.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

Another thought on the hand filtering. I was surprised I cannnot filter by action by street. For example, I wanted to analyze my effectiveness calling down with Ace high, so I filtered for the high card on the river and went to showdown. However, I also need to be able to add that I call a bet on the river, which unless I am mistaken I cannot do at this time.

Having an option for bet/call or raised on each street would be a nice useful filter.

The filters are far from complete. You'll be able to do this before too long.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

Not sure if this has been asked, but I just dled PT3 and encountered a problem creating the database:

"Unable to create PostergreSQL database: PT3 Beta DB1
Reason: Unable to execute query: CREATE DATABASE 'PT3
Beta DB1' WITH TEMPLATE = template0 ENCODING =
'SQL_ASCII':: Reason: Fatal Error (ERROR: databaes 'PT3 Beta
DB1' already exists)

First time dling PT3 and only used PT2 very briefly in trial version. Don' t think I have ever used PostergreSQL database on my comp.
