Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

PT3 currently uses about 1 gb per 100k hands, based off a quick estimate of the databases I currently have on my computer. I think PT2 uses maybe 50-75% of that, but it stores a whole lot less information as well. We plan on compressing the hand history information, which will save some space (maybe reduce it to 700-900 mb/100k hands).

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

Some things I have noticed. The font size of the chip stacks in the replayer window is very small.

When I double click a hand, then the "Hand Details" tab comes up, I'd like it that when I exit that window on the "Hand History" tab, that that tab is the default one the next time I open it. I don't see what "Hand Details" is usefull for. Plus it would be very nice, if that window remembered the size I pulled it, so I don't have to scroll the hand history every time.

Let's say I have the second hand highlighted, then when I click "Play Hands" it starts at the first one, would be nice if it could start at the highlighted one.

Plus even though I have "Auto Play-Hands" checked the replaying stops after the first action (raise, call or fold) from UTG and I have to click on the play button to get it started.

The replayer still has a long way to go. All of your suggestions are good and are things we already had planned.

I guess I was pretty close with my DB size Guess-timate.

Yep, you were right. I just wanted to follow up so people know the developer agrees with you.

So I stopped the import and purged the database - somehow this only freed up 3 GB of the 8+ GB the import used?

You need to run a vacuum after purging.

I would like to be able to move processed files after manually importing. Can this option be added?

Thanks.

My DB has been clustering for 5+ hours.

Is this normal or did it freeze up?

My CPU is at 5% now.

What happens when you purge and vacuum the database. Does this delete everything? I don't want to do it without being sure what will happen. I definitely could use some more space on my hard drive as well.

How many hands are in this database? How much hard drive space do you have free?

Yes, a purge deletes all the information out of the database. The vacuum will then let the database server physically delete the data that was marked for deletion by the purge.

Poker Tracker help

Hi everyone,

I have been playing online for the past year or so but it has affected my college work adversely and my GPA has taken a nosedive like never seen before. Anyways, my question is I am looking to sell my Poker Tracker and was wondering if there was any way I could do it. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have about 35gb free and prob 4 mil hands in my DB.

Edit: Just finished.
Took about 8 hours.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

Ok, free HD space freak-out is over.

I just imported the hands I played (130k) and left mined hands out. The "general" screen classified my 1/2 6m NL hands (this is all FTP btw) as "$1000 NL" and all my 2/4 6m hands as "$20 NL (6 max)".

Also, it's slightly annoying that the "clear" button refreshes the stat windows even if you didn't have any filters selected to begin with.

When I try to filter for certain steaks, all steaks (I didn't do an exact count but it appears this way) appear twice in the "Limits" list.

More steak errors:
$1/$2 FR limit -> "$4 NL (6 max)"
Regular .5/1 NL 6m -> "$1 NL CAP (6 max)"
$0.75/$1.50 deep 6max -> "$10 NL (2 max)"

...you know what, there's probably just some indexing error somewhere that's throwing them all off, so I'll stop. Let me know if you need more details.

When you purchased your license, you purchased the right to use the software, you did not get any kind of ownership. You are not allowed to transfer your license to anyone else. That's the way most software licenses work.

That seems a little long for 4 million, but not completely unreasonable. 35 GB free isn't much for a ~40 GB database to cluster with, so that might have been a factor too. At any rate, your next cluster should happen much faster.

Could you attach some of the hands that are displaying incorrect limits to a support ticket so we can get it fixed?

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 4 Release - 13-Feb-08)

Why does PT3 not display your results in certain timespans?

Like: between 14.00 and 16.00.

Like PT2 does in the 'Session Notes'- 'More Detail'.

Or am i overlooking it.

Because we haven't gotten to adding that functionality to PT3 yet. It's coming.

current inefficiency with HUD -- will PT3's new flexibility address it?

I haven't been closely following the beta and I haven't read the entire thread, so I apologize if this has been brought up already. There is a current deficiency in PAHUD that I hope can be improved upon for PT3.

As of right now, it is impossible to multitable both, say, Limit Holdem and No Limit Holdem at the same time without either:
a) enabling the Show Stats From Current Limit Only filter
b) not using the filter and potentially mixing LHE and NLHE stats

Option a) brings with it a host of other inefficiencies - despite the fact that the Player Ranges filter sorts out stats based on the number of players in the hand, 6max and full ring hands are still classified as different "limits" for the purposes of the filter. Ideally, I would want all of my shorthanded information when I was playing at a 9max or 10max table that had several empty seats, but this filter separates the two. Also, I often base my play for each game across two different stakes and often run into the same opponents, so I would be losing data with this filter on.

Option b) may work okay in practice as few other players will regularly play both games, but in theory, it is kind of stupid that a HUD would even allow you to mix stats from games as different as LHE and NLHE. I would be surprised if any PT owners would find value in mixing statistics from these two entirely different games, and I certainly don't see any.

It seems like the solution would be for a HUD to sort out different games by default (or at least separate limit games from big-bet games; I would probably want to combine my PL and NL stats as applying to either of those games while keeping Limit separate, perhaps leave this up to the user?), regardless of whether or not the Current Limit Only filter was in place. This would solve this problem beautifully and seems like a common-sense approach to any HUD.

The best I can do for now is to keep separate databases for each game, keep the Current Limit Only filter off, and never play the two games concurrently, which creates a lot of dead time in the middle of a multitabling session if I decide to switch games.

Is there anybody else out there who is frustrated by this (I realize few players would regularly play LHE and NLHE simultaneously)? Does the improved HUD in PT3 address this inefficiency?
