Can you explain what your problem is, please? Do you mean that your HUD settings are lost when you upgrade? This shouldn't happen if you install the update over your existing installation without uninstalling first.
What version did you upgrade from?
I upgraded from beta 26. This has happened at least the past two times i've upgraded. We discussed this in a previous thread. I don't remember reading your last post to me in that thread. I wasn't aware it was not happening to the majority of players and assumed it was just a bug that everyone dealt with. Should I still send in a support ticket? Can you give me a link or instructions on how to make a ticket?

This shouldn't happen again after beta 25. You're not uninstalling or deleting any files, are you?
Is it keeping your HUD config but losing the positioning information?

I don't think a log file would necessarily help, but a before-and-after of your layout files would be good.

Do you have a backup of the layouts.pt3 file from before you installed the upgrade? Have a look in C:\Program Files\pokertracker 3\data\ and see if there is a layouts.pt3.backup file dated from the time you ran the installer.

If so, zip that and the new layouts.pt3 file (select both, right click > Send to Compressed Folder) and attach the .zip file to a Support ticket.
Please note a site and table type/size where you play and had your HUD stats positioned how you like them.

nah it's already been replaced. i'll save it before i upgrade to the next beta and send in a ticket with the info you requested when it happens again.

To me, it has more to do with game differences than specific (absolute) positional differences, though. The point I was making is that I don't think people play so differently from, for example, one off the button in a 4-handed and a 5-handed game, but because in one game it's EP and in one game it's not, I would need to set up what I consider to be an artificial and undesired split.

The reason it's undesired is that you split your sample size between them, so rather than having, again for example, 500 hands on someone, you now will have to split that when they probably don't play so differently. Not a huge deal for like VPIP and PFR, but when you have stats that take a long time to converge, cutting your sample size in half is a big deal. Like if I want to see how often they 3-bet and respond to 3-bets on the flop, I'd like the full sample. Especially because postflop they will play the same whether it's 4- or 5-handed.

Hope that makes sense.

Just thought of something else. For Att Steal, it's based on whether you're in CO, BTN, or SB. You wouldn't say that that it doesn't count as a steal if they open from CO 4-handed because in that situation they're UTG. The relevant thing is that they're one off the button and they open-raise. I think it's that same logic that I believe should be extended to positional stats.
Bumping this because I don't believe I saw an answer to whether in the near future, PT3 would give the option of actual positional stats supported without having to add custom stats for them (rather than the current out of the box support only for relative positions). Thanks.

As far as I'm aware there are only plans for the out of the box positional implementation that is currently available, but I'll see if I can find out any more for you.

Someone from the development team told me earlier today that there are plans to extend the options related to positional stats to allow you to change how they are defined. I don't know exactly what this will entail, or when it will be done, but it does sound like you'll be able to set groups of positions (or individual positions) however you like.

Thanks...that sounds like the best possible solution. Then, if someone wanted to duplicate the behavior of the HEM popup, they could, but if they would rather use relative positions, they have another choice.

I agree, the more configurable the better. But it will likely still be a while before we see those features.
05-12-2009 , 08:51 PM
ok, so after the update all the upodating is gone, i wanted to housekeep now its clustering for 5 1/2 hours, even tho my database is not very big. is that normal? what can i do
05-13-2009 , 05:00 AM
How big is your database? How many hands?
How many databases do you have?
That does sound a bit long, but if you're into the millions of hands then it's not unreasonable.
05-13-2009 , 07:06 AM
It took 8 hours for clustering only. I have two databases but it was only running for one, i might be mistaking but i dont have more than 1 mil in this one.

not gonna do the rest of the housekeeping because it would basically take 1 week, i guess
05-13-2009 , 09:39 AM
Cluster takes basically half of the time that it takes for housekeeping to finish; vacuum and analyze are very quick, a couple of minutes each, tops.

Clustering can also take longer if you're low on hard drive space, whereas that doesn't affect anything else. I'd recommend letting it run overnight when you're not using your computer; it should be done when you wake up.

Run vacuum and analyze now though, that won't take much time at all.

Not sure if this is the best place for requests or not, but an option to "Export hands currently filtered" would be handy. Also, a "Last X Hands" Filter would be nice.

No rush.
05-14-2009 , 09:07 AM
I'll pass along the suggestion for exporting hands currently filtered to the development team.

With regards to "Last X Hands" -- did you mean on the HUD? You can do this now on the Hud Options tab (though it does slow things down some, as it's the last X hands you have on each player and thus the cache can't be used).
05-14-2009 , 09:20 AM
so i vacuumed and updated the cashe, last took another 8 hours. when clicking done it gave the abnormal program termination error and i hafve a lot of crashes with this beta. for example it will load the players then crash when it should load my general page

anyway i can downgrade?

No, just as a general use filter to monitor medium-term stats, winnings, etc. Technically it can be done by using the since date option, but a last X hands option would be easier, IMO. Meh... it's not a big deal.

I'd much rather have the HUD read the DB w/o requiring auto-import to be going.
05-14-2009 , 12:43 PM
The latter has been suggested many times; I don't know when (if ever) it will be available. The former would be a bit complicated but should be doable I think. I'll put it on the list.

Yeah, I've suggested it a few myself. I don't know if you know or if it's something you can share, but could you let me know the rationale for not doing it? Too difficult technically? Not enough perceived demand? Not enough end-user benefit? Something else?
05-14-2009 , 03:38 PM
Unfortunately I'm not in a position to make decisions on what does or doesn't get developed and I don't always get information about what is being worked on ahead of time; I haven't heard anything specifically against that feature, but I haven't heard anything implying that it's currently being worked on, either.

?

cant check my stats anymore only the HUD works. it insta crashes when the player list is loaded and the right side should be loaded. and a log file wouldnt help because i Have to starte new, amirite
05-15-2009 , 01:56 PM
i tried over installing the build, wouldnt work because the latest build doesnt even get passed the PT3 screen and doesnt even start. then reinstalled the newest beta again. tournament stuff works fine, dont have any other cash databases to test (theyre empty)
05-16-2009 , 09:08 AM
Sorry I missed your first post; downgrading isn't recommended because there are major database changes since the Build 4 release and once your database has been upgraded to Beta 27 it's better to stay there.

We are currently working on fixing bugs for an impending Build 5 release, so if you do experience any of these crashes again, please send us your pokertracker.log file before restarting; it would be extremely helpful.
05-27-2009 , 11:12 AM
done
06-01-2009 , 02:35 PM
Beta 27.2 was just released that fixes the problem with the latest PokerStars update. Please download it if you are having problems with the Hud not showing on PokerStars tournament tables. See:
