Just for future reference -- I am not sure this is the case. I played on Stars yesterday without updating and both PT2 and HEM read my hands fine. (Again, I hadn't updated PT2 or HEM.) HEM HUD worked as well.

I think the HH format is specified by the client, not the servers.

Kraada, I opened the ticket August, 27, and answer was to do housekeeping/enhanceHud/Postgres Tuning, things I just had done.
On 28 I isolated better the problem (at the beginning I thought was Vista) and did new post there but still had no answer.
Now problem is really urgent for me because I cannot use B15 any more.
I installed B17 and is IMPOSSIBLE to play on 24 tables.
Consider that with B15 it worked up to 50 tables without slowing down.
I was not able to find any way to disable the new cache feature. Problem could be related to this, that is a major modify to the HUD in B16 vs B15 ?
Please make this urgent, I really can't play until the issue is solved

No sir, I'm using XP. The thing is, after closing PT 3 when I din't kill the process in task manager when the problem occurs, firefox launch immediately after PT 3 closed.

Btw, Stars auto request tournament summary and pop3 import will be added soon? I really hope so..

I can confirm this. I haven't updated yet and just played a hand on Stars. The HH was written to the the HH directory in the old format:

PokerStars Game #20114439184: Hold'em Limit ($0.02/$0.04) - 2008/09/03 - 11:33:44 (ET)

Yes, the cache was the big update between B15 and B16.

Please PM me your ticket number so I can make sure that ticket is properly escalated, then, and there are a few ways to get PT3 not to use the cache, I believe, one of which is to create a new custom statistic and use it in your HUD and then not recache. I can give you one to try if you'd like as I have quite a few, or if you wait a bit you can try using the HUD in my Advanced Guide I linked to a little bit earlier, though I need to upload a new file for it (it'll be up before I go to lunch). I think that causes PT3 to not use the cache at all, so I'm not sure, but it's worth a try.

If that actually helps, please make sure to PM me the ticket number anyway because we would really like to get this issue fixed without this sort of kludge.

I didn't find the 'Advanced Guide' link. May you repost ?
However, I understood that changing something in HUD should cause cache to stop working until rebuild, so I added a stat to my HUD data. This didn't work, at high number of tables lagging was back as before.
And stopping HUD crashes it 100% of times freezing everything....
I feel so 'desperate' I'm thinking to write a on-the-fly hand converter from new to old format to use B15 again, but really hope not to have to do that :S
Before that I will try to move the database to a remote PC. Maybe freeing resources could help a little...

How To: Advanced HUD Configuration, and the download links are fixed.

It's not just adding a stat it's adding a custom stat, though it may just not use the database cache for that stat.

In which case the HUD linked from that How To shouldn't touch the cache at all, as it is literally all custom stats (you do have to download and import a lot of stats, but it's a heck of a lot faster than moving your database to a remote PC).

I was contemplating this too, was kinda hoping the other / older versions would have been published with the stars fixes by now so there wouldn't be a need.

It is extremely useful when testing to be able to check if the investigated behaviour was present in older versions or not - for example was trying to figure out why PT3 HUD lags when TableNavigator is running - was fine with b15, big problems with b16... no way to compare these versions now

Alright, so for some reason auto-importing on Ongame doesn't work while manual importing does (it just says "Found 0 files to monitor). I don't think it even worked before but it's been ages since I've used PT3. I'm using Vista and am running PT3 and the Ongame client as run as administration, any ideas how to find the problem and fix it?

Are you sure you have the OnGame database configured properly? Go into the auto-import tab and OnGame Configuration tab (click OnGame on the left, then Configuration on the right) and make sure the proper database is listed there.

Are there any PT3 HUD layout skins? I did a quick search and could not find any useful links

Ok weird. After about 15 mins of 2tabling PT3 starts importing all the hands played in the session and shows a hud for table 1 and after 5mins the hud for table 2 athough I can't move the 2nd one. Wtf..

I imported all the stats, copied the Layouts.pt3 and tried. Same problem.
Hoping a solution will be available before I complete this, I'm going to install postgres on a spare Mac I have here and will try with if remote db could patch this for now

Right now there isn't a quick and easy import/export method. There will be, it's just not available yet.

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, I posted my personal HUD and directions for how to create it in the How To: Advanced HUD Configuration.

Good luck.

Question though, as it occurs to me: When you're having this horrible lag, what is CPU usage like? Is it all being sucked up by postgres or PT3?

CPU usage is not that high (something like 50%, but it's a dual core, so I suppose one of the two go 100%. Unfortunately seem that this data is not monitored the right way by task manager/process explorer), I saw memory usage increasing very fast.
Checking the 'Top 3' in the processes I can see Pokertracker, Pokerhud and Postgres running randomly for first position, but none of these seem to be in #1 position more than others.

P.S. the lag isn't only in Pokerstars' tables: whatever operation you try to do is lagged. Moving any window, opening any window has a 1-2 seconds lag. At the end all the tables go on sitout, of course because is impossible to get the queue empty

I will let you know about the remote DB trial.

50 tables? Was that just to test its scope, or do you come close to playing that many?

You can't play more than 24 cash tables on stars... But PT 3b15 imported 30 hands on observed tables, so I had ~50 tables which data was imported by PT3.

Re: New Software: PokerTracker 3 - 3.00.2 / Beta 17 (60 day trial) - 02-Sept-2008

Update, Kraada:

I did a session 24 tabling using remote DB.
I had lag but much less than before. It was possible to end the ~1500 hands session; with local DB it was really impossible.
However, we are far from the way it worked with B15 (with B15 it was not 'perfect', but neither too much boring).
I monitored ~50% CPU peaks on DB Server.
Do you think I must add this data to ticket or I just write here ?

Please do add the information to the ticket; it will be very useful to have all of the information together in one spot.

Also, did you ever try following either of the Performance Tuning FAQs?

Re: New Software: PokerTracker 3 - 3.00.2 / Beta 17 (60 day trial) - 02-Sept-2008

I have another problem with the HUD

sometimes, it freezes the screen of my other monitor and the monitor the tables are on, which is weird.

I am able to click all the table buttons and the HUD stuff, but cannot click anywhere else in other programs or the desktop etc

the only way to make this work again is to open the task manager, after that it works again wtf

this and the lag
