Re: New Software: PokerTracker 3 - 3.00.2 (Beta 16 available) - 27-Aug-2008

I tried to update the cache and it said 0% for a really long time, and then it kind of finished but I don't really know if it did anything because an error message came up. I tried to copy paste but it wouldn't allow it. Basically it was one sentence saying there was an error, and then a long paragraph with stuff like %tables, player_id, etc. I can't really remember what, but none of it made sense and it just had words like player, table, session in code.

The open tables is a nice feature. I think it makes more sense to just double click the table to open it though. It would go a lot faster when you are opening like 8 tables to not have to drag the mouse back and forth.

My HUD still took about 45 seconds to appear on new tables.

Looks like last time I played stars I did not use a tracker, so it looks like those 20 or so hands played prevented the HUD from working after the 30th hand while observing even though the first 20 some hands I was actually at the table.

Thanks for the super quick responses. Two more things: How will I know if the latest 8.3.x version doesn't work for me, and what should I do if that's the case (i.e. are there any special instructions I need to take to uninstall it before installing 8.2.9)? And at what point can I re-enable UAC?

This is possible, although it will take you a little while doing it the way I know how.

1)Create a new group under the Group tab inside of configure stats.
2)Name your group
3)Change Show to Show on table for everyone
4)You can change Popup to whatever your popup is named (Default Popup by default) so that if you click on an individual popup it will bring up your popup stats
5)Click on the stats tab
6)Add the stat that you created a group for and adjust things such as color ranges and if you would like stats figured out after the decimal point or just rounded off. (You can also add prefixes to your stats if you have trouble remembering whats what).
7)Rinse Lather and Repeat over and over again till you have all of your stats

I have more than one stat in each group, but wanted things in different places so that I could see the dealer button, bet amounts, and stack sizes, etc...

Screenshot of my stat layout:

i was told with an earlier beta that I would have to reimport all my hands at a later date..... I have A LOT of hands and only want to import once.... i dont want to have to recreate the database every few months. Is PT3 ready for me to do the one, big, final import yet or not?

Re: New Software: PokerTracker 3 - 3.00.2 (Beta 16 available) - 27-Aug-2008

Similar problems here as above. Load up 14 tables of FullTilt, and I only have stats on ~3 max. In the import window, I can see that it's grabbing hands from all tables, it's just not displaying the HUD.

I also had one table's showdown display stay frozen for a good 15 minutes. I kept hitting reset in the PT3 dropdown, but those stupid little cards remained. It was especially irritating because it was a 4-way showdown. I eventually just closed the (profitable) table.

Also, it used to show my stats just for a particular table session. Now I see my stats from my 6-figure database for myself. Useless for quick-reference on my image.

Sigh. Pls to stop breaking PT3 more than it already is.

I fired up 16 FTP tables and got HUD working on one table. Very slowly i got more tables and after waiting 20min i am now up to 8 tables with HUD working.

There seems to be a wrench

Edit: I just noticed that the table averages is the exact same for all tables with HUD working. Im having a hard time beliving that the 12 tables that are now working with HUD has the EXACT same table averages.

The percentage complete is a percentage of the total housekeeping actions remaining complete. So if you are doing all 4 housekeeping actions it's at 0% until the cluster is done, then it's at 25% until the vacuum is done, etc.

This behavior will be changing in the future to more accurately reflect what you would expect it to.

Please enable logging (Configure --> Options --> Logging Enabled needs to be checked; if it isn't, check it and restart PT3) and if you get these errors again please send us a message via the support system.

Do you have multiple databases? If so, have you made sure the cache was updated on all of them? Having a cache on one database and not on another obviates the benefit of the cache.

Please enable logging per my previous instructions in this post and attempt to update the cache again. If it fails one more time that message will be put into the log file; please create a support request containing the PokerTracker.log file (in C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\) and we'll help you get this issue resolved.

That's decidedly odd, and obviously shouldn't happen. Is the HUD now working for you? If this happens again, please submit a log file per the above instructions so that we can make sure this gets fixed.

If it doesn't work it won't install giving an initdb:1 error message. People seem to be having more success now than they originally were in May/June so the 8.3.x branch may have been fixed to work with Vista now, but not running Vista myself I can't really test it. If you can get 8.3.x installed successfully and the cluster initialization doesn't fail, you should be able to use it just fine.

Once everything has been installed you can re-enable UAC but you should make sure BOTH PokerTracker 3 AND your poker clients are being run as Administrator (right click on the desktop icon--> run as administrator, if that's not there, right click --> properties --> Security --> run as administrator). If PT3 isn't run as adminstrator it doesn't work right at all, and if certain poker clients (PokerStars in particular) aren't run as administrator they'll fail to save hand histories, making PT3 unable to import them (obviously). So I just wanted to point this out clearly so you don't end up confused why things weren't working

What happens when you try to open PT3? Are you given an error message?

There shouldn't be any more database changes at this point, and since Beta 16 should fix most outstanding bugs (we hope), in the future if need be we hope to implement a routine to avoid this reimportation.

I can't promise 100% that you will never have to reimport, but I can say that it's unlikely that you'll have to do so.

Please make sure you have updated the cache on all of your databases. If that doesn't help, please enable logging as per the above instructions and submit your PokerTracker.log and PokerTrackerHud.log files to our support system. Beta 16 works better for most users who were having trouble (myself included); I'm not sure why it's causing trouble for you but we will figure it out and get it fixed.

The table averages being identical definitely sounds fishy to me as well. Not to sound like a broken record, but if you could also submit your PokerTracker.log and PokerTrackerHud.log files (see earlier in this post for directions) it would be very useful for us to see what's going on and get it fixed.

Re: New Software: PokerTracker 3 - 3.00.2 (Beta 16 available) - 27-Aug-2008

Beta 16 is a huge failure for me.

The installation went fine

I did the house cleaning. Took about an hour. Updates at 25% 50% 75%....

I fire up 9 Tables on ftp. There is a huge lag from when the stats pop up. Even more than prior versions of PT3 about 5-10 minutes. Then stats pop up for 1 table and they are the default stats. WTF? I spent a good amount of time creating a layout and now I have default? The rest of the stats for the table take a long time to load up. and when I left click on an individual players stats the pop shows blank values. And stats for me show every single hand I've played in my database...

So how do I get the layout that I created. Can I go back to the prior release? Because this is a joke.

I would wait until the next beta, which should be out within the next two weeks. I plan on fixing all the remaining known import problems for that version.

I don't get you people sometimes. Do happy PT3 users who have migrated from the competition go into their thread and say things like "lol" when bugs are reported there? Have *YOU* actually tried beta 16? I'm willing to bet you haven't, but yet here you are in the thread, stirring up trouble. With our new refund policy, if you actually try beta 16 and it doesn't fix your problems, it's possible to get a refund if we can't fix your individual problem.

Do you have more than one database? Did you do the housekeeping on each one you are using with the Hud?

Did you accidentally install beta 16 in a different location than you installed the previous version? The install does not overwrite your layout file, so that's the only explanation I can think of for why it went back to the original layout.

Only 1 database.

I don't know. How would I know? As far as the installation goes I installed it the same way I do all the other updates.

Okay. Just did another test and opened 1 table. Stats appeared after 1 hand played. This is observed btw (not sure if it matters). Then I opened another 8. Stats appeared after 1 hand played. So that seems to be working. Now I just need my layout stats...

Hey Josh!

I am one of the users who had problems multitabling (10+) on iPoker with a heavy stat-loaded HUD reading from two databases (played and observed). I had problems in beta 15. It was very frustrating.
This morning I installed beta 16. Loaded up gradually 14 tables and it worked really nice this time. Played a 2 hour sesh without a crash. The processors (dual) didn't get over 60% as a average (as opposed to 90% in beta 15). So now is all good, the improvement is obvious to me.

And one more thing... I hadn't even used the CACHE.

lol @ you getting adversarial with your customers.

I still remember you guys talking down Roy's solution, claiming PT3 would blow HEM out of that water, it will be designed so much better, blah blah blah. PT3 is a cluster**** -- karma's a *****, ain't it?

I would suggest not making it worse. If that's possible.

Do a search on your hard drive for the Layouts.pt3 file. If you installed to a different directory, it should find both of them.

Thank you for the report. I'll be if you use the cache, your CPU usage will drop pretty significantly.

First, I should've clarified. By "you people", I wasn't referring to everyone reading this thread. I was referring to people who share the quoted poster's attitude. Those who offer nothing constructive, but merely attempt to get under our skin and stir up trouble. I apologize for the confusion.

PT3 is far from finished. In fact, we're just getting started. Don't count us out yet. We have a lot planned and will be around for years to come.

As for PT3 being a "cluster****"? That is a gross overstatement. We've had some problems, but again, if you read the complaints here on 2+2, you are viewing a narrow segment of our overall user base. You don't see all the messages we get from users telling us they love PT3 and are very happy with it. That's fine though. I'm confident that the difficult times are behind us and we will make very quick progress from here on out and the overall attitude here at 2+2 will come to match the attitude of the rest of our customers, which is a happy one.

Alright, guess you were right about the installation in multiple locations. I have pt3 installed to:

C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3

and

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\PokerTracker 3

The older version being installed to the games directory (why i have it installed here I don't know). Can I just take the layouts.pt3 from the msgames directory and place it in the new directory? Also, should I delete the PT3 in MS games directory and just make sure I install over the new directory from now on. Thanks in advanced.

Yes, you can just move the one from your old directory to your new one. You can delete the old directory if you want, leaving it won't really hurt anything but will take up hard drive space.

fwiw, why dont u do what HEM does, and move all the unprocessed/error HH to a new folder, so that when import bugs are fixed, it is much quicker to simply import hands which werent previously processed.

The older version being installed to the games directory (why i have it installed here I don't know). Can I just take the layouts.pt3 from the msgames directory and place it in the new directory? Also, should I delete the PT3 in MS games directory and just make sure I install over the new directory from now on. Thanks in advanced.
Yes just place the older version in the new data directory over the other one and you should be good to go.
