Oh yes. For every beta version, there are usually many alpha versions released.

It's quite common for people to root for the underdog. PokerTracker has been the de facto standard for so long that people would cheer for anyone who entered the game. People also like to watch giants fall (for the same reason people rubberneck when driving past car accidents), so it's completely expected that PT3 would have a lot of people trying to stir up the waters.

Just look at all the people having problems with PT3. A lot of them just can't resist saying they are moving to other software. Believe it or not, there are a ton of people coming from that other software to PT3, but they have no grudge, so they don't feel compelled to say such things.

I doubt it. The other software's HUD works fine, PT3 doesn't

Meh. Dunno. Im sure its nice to think that but imo people around here just want a good product. From the giant or from whomever.

The only grudge I ever had against PT3 was the trash talking, which is looking more and more unjustified. If I was biased I would have gotten HM two months ago. Then again, I would have gotten HM two months ago if I didnt fall for the... "lolz HM sucks, roy sucks, PT3/pEV is the best, blah blah solid foundation, new features quickly etc etc, trust me guise lolz"... talk. So yeah, I guess actually you are right, there is now a bit of a grudge there. Not knowing anything about software writing, trusting what I was hearing meant two months without HM. Naive of me I guess.

It seems to me the mention of a PT3 never came up until after HEM was being developed and released in beta. I really doubt that the development of PT3 even started before HEM started being released in beta. The thread for HEM started in June of 2007 while the thread for PT3 was started in January of 2008. They have been WAY ahead of you since the beginning. Were you in the HEM meeting when they were discussing their initial release and the reason they were releasing it? If you were then your claim that it was released because of the announcement of PT3 is valid. If not then you are bashing your competitor with no proof.

Smaller user base? If this is true it's not much smaller. At least if we are talking about PT3 user base vs HEM user base. However I wouldn't be surprised if HEM user base if somewhat larger than the PT3 user base.

Way to pass the buck. The decision to release was ultimately made by those in charge of PT3. Way to even blame "a demanding public". When the customers are pissed the best thing to do is blame them as being part of the problem - sarcasm.

In hindsight holding off the release was a perfect option.

I really don't think you can foresee what will happen in the future with HEM and it's HUD. Sure the framework may be more simple the what you are trying to do but that doesn't mean that they won't be able to keep up with user demands. You may be absolutely correct but we really just don't know if this is true. Again, with the bashing of HEM.

I really hope this is true. I own PT3 and, as I have stated in the past, I hope it is successful. Competition will only help make the databases we use, whether it be PT3 or HEM, better.

I've said it once I will say it again, I wish you guys all the luck in the world. There is no doubt you are putting in long hours trying to make the best product possible. Have you made correct decisions all the way through this project? Not by any means. Have you always done what you thought was best? Certainly. Right now you are just WAY behind the competition and are losing customers. I own your product but will be purchasing HEM when my trial period is complete. I will then have two database management tools which I can use and will use which ever is best for my needs. Right now it's not even close....HEM is what I am using.

i am so done with pt3, i feel i was scammed... yes im a ****** for buying the 1st commercial release, but when the 1st commercial build was released they actually made updates often... and when i activated the trial, it said it need to build a new database, and wouldnt let me import my old one unless i bought.

these guys are a bunch of jokers, and im pissed at myself for trusting the PT name.

now i do hope the giant falls, you guys deserve it.

Re: New Software: PokerTracker 3 - 3.00.2 (Beta 15 available) - 21-July-2008

PokerAce, nobody expects the next Beta to be bug free (it will always be a work in progress as all software is) and holding back any progress this long only makes for more and more disgruntlement. Claiming superior design at this point is like a cbet and yes only time will tell but software windows are measured in a few years due to operating system advancements. Competitors will have time to redesign, if needed, while you experiment with programming methods.

BTW, I want to buy this your product for my tournament side of play so don't misread my intentions.

Re: New Software: PokerTracker 3 - 3.00.2 (Beta 15 available) - 21-July-2008

I posted my complaints previously in this thread because I wanted to voice my disgruntlement, but also because I want to disuade people from buying PT3. I bought PT3 for the brand name, I used PT2 for years at it's really good, so I figured that the next version would have to be better. When I tried the trial version it had a few issues, but I figured that they would be ironed out and I could deal with them.

The other reason I complained is so that people get fully informed. I browsed this thread before purchasing the program, and found bug issues, but people were hopefull in general. I want people to know that right now the clear choice for any poker player interested in reviewing hands/HUD's the choice is clear, it's HEM. I bought it yesterday and set it up, and it's almost problem free. I think most people agree that PT3 will eventually be the better product, however at this time it is very far behind, and with their current development speed it will very likely be a year before you would want to change over to PT3.

Cannot believe Stars has not shut it down due to the datamining capabilities it currently has.

I am waiting for this program every day. I cannot do my normal playing because it lags so bad i cant even click anything anymore (sent logfiles like 10 times)

I dont care if there are bugs left in the version you have now, but pls let me download something with less lags now and im happy

indeed, i am eric...

define plenty, for me its about 5mio hands/day.

last time i checked hm was not able to import fast enough and the dbs got slow really really fast.

edit : besides that, the whole bashing is boring, a few month ago it was HM sucks, PT3 owns, now its different.
i have 2 pt3 and hm licences and both are good for some parts and not so good at others.

bashing is boring, critic is only usefull when its productive.

push it to th limit, dooooooooooooooo

Re: New Software: PokerTracker 3 - 3.00.2 (Beta 15 available) - 21-July-2008

imo PT3 is a joke.

I bought it but i dont use it. The last time i tried was when becomes beta 15 release hoping to have big advances but indeed when it was better it wasnt enough better.

Hoping a month or more for every single update that can MAYBE make things work better is a joke.

The only leak that HM has is Import speed. Any other comparisson between PT3 and HM is worthless because HM kick ass now. And HM improves really fast besides PT3 does.

I'm pretty sure that PT3 will be marked leader now and future. Those guys have been in business so long that they really know what they do. They are not micro limit crinders like HM guys... They know what players need etc.

I had both. PT3 and HM (and offcourse the old pt2) and both have been little messed sometimes. I use PT3 now. It's so much better only littlebit "hard" to use. It's so much powerfully than HM.

So keep up the good work!
