when is the new beta gonna be around?
08-21-2008 , 04:32 PM
I can handle it when the program crashes and I need to restart. However, sometimes PT3 crashes (now increasingly often), and causes 10+ different windows to pop up and requiring me to re-login to windows. I've never used a program that did this before. I'm still holding out from trying HEM, but if the update this week (if there is one) doesn't fix the crashing, I'm giving up. The risk of timed out pots from crashes is not worth it.

Please see the Development Timeline for latest updates.

I'm sorry to say this, BUT that is not a very good answer considering the "development timeline" has been modified (delayed) twice since Aug 5th. IF the timeline were relatively new, then that may be a different story. I am one of those who have purchased PT3. I have also sent in half-a-dozen support tickets for the last release and have received no reply since doing so. My last ticket entry still says "waiting for supports reply".

According to the timeline, there should be a new beta out within the next 48 hours. Is this still on track, or can I (we) expect another delay? I REALLY hope there is, beause the way things are currently, I can't play more than 3 tables without experiencing serious lag issues. God forbid that I fire up 10 tables and PT3 at the same time.

You can try out HEM for 15 days. IMO it's pretty sweet. I wish the PT3 people all the luck in the world. PT2 was a ground breaking and great product. I'm sure PT3 will get all of it's issues squared away and be a challenger to HEM but right now, to use an analogy, HEM is Micheal Phelps and PT3 is everyone else.

fwiw: I purchased PT3 when it first became available to purchase. I REALLY thought they would have all their issues figured out and the product would be up to speed quickly. I was willing to wait it out. I got tired of waiting. No updates for the last month. The next update appears only to be a bug fix and who knows when the next update will be after that. No major new features have been added and I doubt any will be added in the near future as they are still sorting out the bugs with the current version. I will still look at the improvements PT3 makes and maybe even try them out. Heck, I would even switch back to it if it ends up better than HEM. However right now it appears ending up with a program that is better than HEM is well off into the distance and just getting it usable is the goal and has been ongoing for several months.

no refunds! no seriously I'm also disappointed with PT3.
Should've used the trial period more effectively, but somehow I was sure it would be worth it. Guess I'm not the only one who thought like this.

I went ahead and bought this product simply because of its brand name, and Im completely regretting it. Why haven't they updated this program in over a month?

pokertracker 3 is very disappointing . HUD is pathetic. Please check the develoment timeline.

Yeah, they should put a warning like "no refunds" on their order-page or something.

wait....

hm, nevermind.

(I'm not saying I like the way the development of PT3 is going right now, btw)

The problem is not this. The developers wrote "no refunds" in their site so their behaviour was correct. The ugly thing is, many players buy PT3 believing that it is a good product, supporting the developers. Now, who paid for the program is trapped, I mean, he can't change his mind. Obv 90$ are a few bucks and most of us, don't care about it.
I can't understand why fixing the HUD is so difficult, if developers encountered some problems they should think about hire someone to help development. Maybe, they understimate the other products and took softly this project, I don't know.

@ Josh or Whiterider or someone related to: if HM will take a large part of the business, you will continue to develop PT3? This sound ridiculous, but it's a good question. Right now PT3, needs to improve, and improve faster, and maybe, when PT3 will be ready, HM will have the largest part of the business.
These problems with PT3 sounds like a give up to me.

Same post on PT3 forum

I just read the Josh's update. What can I say? Are you joking? This is a f***ing joke. I shouldn't buy your software, but I did, I bought it for support the project, It was a -EV move definetly. Are you realize that you are trying to fix the HUD, and it requires monthS, I highlighted MONTHS. This is impossible, I don't believe that, maybe PT3 have some others problems. Are you interested on making money? Do you think this "strategy" will work??? C'mon guys, hire 10 programmers and work on it. Customers are tired of this situation, STOP IT

Yes they are. Thats why they released it half finished when they saw how much of the market HM was winning. And people had trust in the name. A meaningless name (PokerTracker) that wasnt even owned by the same person (PT Pat) anymore.

It seems a lot of you are forgetting that HM encountered several months of urgent bug fixing after their release (which was rushed due to the announcement of the PT3 beta release) too. They have a much smaller user base, and few people with a grudge against them, so you didn't hear about their problems as much.

Yes, we are having some growing pains with our release. Those responsible for PT3 did not receive a single penny of PokerTracker income until we released PT3, so it's not like we had a ton of resources to use in our testing or development phase. The initial release was rushed due to business arrangements, anxious partners, and a demanding public. In hindsight, things would've been smoother if we could've held off on the release, but that wasn't really an option.

Basically, the problems we are having are due to an extremely complicated, flexible and POWERFUL Hud framework. We could've gone the route of our competition and simply used pre-existing technology (PA Hud), but then we would face the same problems they will face: difficulty in expanding functionality and keeping up with user demands. Our Hud framework will allow us to do nearly anything we can imagine with it. It was designed to last for years without any major revamping of the code. Unfortunately, to accomplish this required a very complicated framework, and with complication comes problems. We also were experimenting with new methods of displaying stats, and unfortunately, they didn't turn out too well.

Fortunately, we are now extremely close to having the major problems completely eliminated. I don't expect it to take another full week, but I am not comfortable releasing what we have now since there are still a few known bugs.

Are there still internal Beta ("Alpha"?) testers like there were before the commercial release?
08-22-2008 , 05:04 PM
I didnt realize people have a grudge. How come? Is it because of the trash talking towards HM in the beginning?

There no reason to talk about HM, you should work on your product. Now HM is better than PT3 thats the only important thing.
How many times you said that you have almost done with all the problems?
