People are allowed to sell bad software products (not that I think PT3 is bad, it's a bit unstable, but things will be ironed out). If they don't offer trials, don't buy them. If they do offer trials, make sure the thing works before buying it. If you couldn't be bothered doing that, despite the warnings in bolded caps that you should do it, feel free to rant and rave about the evils of the product on public forums, but don't expect people to take you seriously.
Good point. In fact, pretty much every Microsoft Windows sucks when it first comes out.

2 quick Qs:
1. how do i export all the HHs from a particular table to a text file so i can import them into PT2?
2. how do i export all HHs for a particular date to a text file so i can import them into PT2?

Question: Can`t seem to figure out where to filter to only show players with at least a certain amount of hands played. This was available in PT2 and is good for profiling regular players in your database.

Well.. if the owners of PT3 don't allow a new "trial period" after the expiry of this one... they will loose sales.

My hud has been going down all the time... crashing 3 times a night. No way I am paying for that garbage.

You want me to buy your product.. keep the trial going until it is actually working!

Re: New Software: PokerTracker 3 - 3.00.2 (Beta 13 available) - 12-June-2008

This was a shot of my Task Manager while 4 tabling recently, using HM with 4 individual HUD Panels per player.

HoldemManager.exe
HMImport.exe
HMHUD.exe

~90 - 100 MB

and various PostgreSQL.exe

AHK used the most CPU (9%) for me, but I run 6-7 scripts.

Selective exporting is unfortunately not available yet. However it is near the top of our list of things to add (along with selective purging).

I believe you should be able to do this with a custom report, see our custom reports guide.

Have you tried Beta 13? Beta 13 is much more stable for the vast majority of users. You can download Beta 13 by scrolling down past Build 2 on the download page.

Just wow.
For 99.99% of our users, the PT3 installation of PostgreSQL goes very seamlessly without issue. It's so good in fact that the users of competing software are being told to download our software and use it to install PostgreSQL because they can't figure out how to do it properly.

Yes, a few people who have certain needs (that wouldn't be met by using one of the easier to use database solutions) need to manually install or adjust the PostgreSQL configuration, but this is hardly the issue you're making it out to be.

Not sure I see the point. Are you trying to say HM is more resource friendly than PT3? On my computer, PT3 uses far less CPU and memory than HM does and this has been stated by other PT3 users as well.

.
Sorry - That was a mis-posting apparently. I thought I was posting in the PT3/HM thread, in response to someone asking specifically about HM's resource usage.

I wasn't trying to compare it to anything in my post. I was simply posting it so he would have a point of reference that he could compare to his own TM while using PT3. He seemed to think PT3 was using too many resources, but that is unlikely as you stated. When I tested PT3 (a month or 2 ago) it did use less RAM than HM, although any modern PC should be able to push either application (both at the same time even) w/o any problems.

With the HUD turned on, log files grow very quickly. What should we do with large log files that we can't get the support system to accept? Do you still want reports and log files for problems that are widely reported in this thread (such as HUD showdown stats not going away)? I don't see a way to view other people's bug reports and attach comments/logs.

Yes, please submit your logs as these problems are quite complex and the more info we have the better.
If your log file is too big, please zip it before attaching.

Found a bug:
stats in hud are not shown if you select multiple databases with different sites (e.g. one stars and one party)

I have sent you a PM.

Another question, how is the number of players at the table defined? (I mean the number of players which have been dealt in the current hand). I need this to adjust my fish-scoring for full ring and short handed tables.

My own stats pretty much never show in the HUD. I checked configuration - it says show for everyone and when I click apply it shows my stats for a few seconds and then they disappear. What's going on?

Wow!

I just dropped in to see whether it was time to upgrade from PT2, but it appears not!

I think I will check back in at the end of the year, to see whether there is a "Production" quality release available then.

If you mean what statistic would give yout he information you need, you want holdem_hand_summary.cnt_players.

If you mean how is cnt_players calculated, everybody who is not sitting out but is sitting at a table and is dealt cards should be counted. People sitting out should not be counted.

Are you using Beta 13? If not, please try updating to Beta 13 there were problems with Hero stats in all prior versions.

If you change the group to "show for everyone but hero" it will not show your stats, but it will show the group for everyone else. See the HUD Configuration FAQ.

There's also our FAQs and documentation which you should find quite useful.

Beta 13 has markedly improved things, and we expect that very shortly things will be stable for everyone. There is also a free 60 day trial which you can play with which is only limited to having just one database and not allowing you to create custom statistics. But it is not limited to a certain number of tables or a certain number of hands, so you can feel free to try it out and see what happens. (PokerTracker 3 and PokerTracker 2 are entirely separate and you can have them running side-by-side without any trouble; I've done it personally many times.)

A question about the mucked cards feature when using mini-tables on I-Poker: are the mucked cards oversized cards? In other HUDS the mucked cards on the I-Poker mini-tables are very small and difficult to make out. Thanks!

no problem at all. Just make sure only one of the trackers is moving imported hands so neither misses any play.
