Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 10 Release - 02-May-2008) - incl. HUD!

Well I though I had found the fix to my disappearing hud stats on Stars by deleting my version 9 database and telling the hud to use the database that I was importing hands to. It worked fine for about an hour then I looked at a players popup stats and the problem reared it's head again. You can get the stats to reappear by opening the configure hud , changing nothing and apply changes. It does not last for long but you can at least manually update the screen.

The same happens in tournaments plus if you get moved to a new table you seem to lose hud connection to the table, again if you have another table open and apply hud configuration at that table, you can get a connection back on the tourney table.

HTH

Cheers

I seem to be having the same problem as a few people with the stats not showing but mucked hands and the PT icon working ok. I only have one database selected (I deleted the old one and made a new one for this version if it matters). Any help would definitely be appreciated.

I think it has to do with how often it updates the stats for players. I went into the options and made it update every hand no matter how many hands I had seen for that player.

The same thing was happening to me - I'd open a table, start auto-importing, after a few hands were in I'd fire up the HUD, nothing would show up even after waiting a few minutes and over several hands. I had already deleted my beta 9 database and only had my beta 10 db selected. I tried what River_Mitt mentioned above (configure, apply) and the stats came up instantly after doing that. This is on FTP btw.

This seems to work.

Costed me a couple hundred dollars though

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 10 Release - 02-May-2008) - incl. HUD!

TRIP REPORT: Using PT3 HUD with 18 tables

Attempt #1: A nightmare I would prefer to not relive. I've had my comp running for a few days (during which I guess resources dwindle? I have no idea why since task manager always says that my comp is only using like half the RAM I have installed, yet it still starts acting funny anyway sometimes) before trying this which surely had an impact. I got 18 tables going and started up the HUD, and my computer FREAKED out. The best way I can describe it is that my desktop became really scrambled. Icons got randomly moved around to the wrong monitor, an AIM convo appeared in the upper left of my center monitor interweaved with the icons up there, programs started flashing and stuff, it was really pretty freaky. I killed PokerTracker.exe and rebooted.

Attempt #2: Nothing too frightening happened, but FTP pretty much ground to a halt while it was running. And this was with stats only even appearing on like 4 tables (though the PT icon was on all of them) due to the aforementioned stats not appearing bug.

Attempt #3: Disabled "retrieve session stats" like Josh suggested to see if that improved things any. It didn't, and a few minutes after starting the HUD FTP basically froze and all the tables pretty much turned white. I had to kill FTP, which then froze PT3 so I had to kill that too.

So yeah, it's unusable for me. This is with a layout comparable to the one I'm using in PA HUD right now which slows my system down slightly but is still quite playable. Considering that a major selling point of all the next-gen trackers and HUDs has been "yo, this will be super fast cause PT2 was really inefficient", I have no idea why they're all so slow on my system that I'm still using PA HUD. And it's not like I have a bunch of crap on my system, the other programs I had open are AIM, Winamp 2.x, a couple AHKs, and a few lightweight taskbar apps. During all of this, PokerTracker3.exe hovered around 30%, with random spikes up to 50% (which is the max since I'm running a dual-core) and down to 0% sometimes. FTP was working pretty hard too and also hovered around 25%. Memory usage was like 150mb for FTP/50mb for PT3.

I did configure HUD stats > HUD options > change refresh rates all to 1

I have everything else set to default except which stats I use etc. That seems to fix the stats randomly disapearing for me.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 10 Release - 02-May-2008) - incl. HUD!

A few issues with beta 10 I noticed while playing around with it on iPoker:

1.) It imported a play money session. I purged the database, deleted the play money file, and did another import. Oddly, now one of the limits was named after the play money session's limit ("NL 4", which I've never played). BB/100 numbers and such for the limit were correct. Removing the database entirely, creating a new one, and doing a third import fixed it.

2.) The replayer gets the bet amounts wrong when there's reraising going on. For example, here the turn gets capped in a $0.05/$0.10 fixed limit game:

SB checks
UTG checks
Hero bets $0.10
BTN raises to $0.20
SB calls $0.09
UTG calls $0.20
Hero raises to $0.40 <-- error
BTN raises to $0.60 <-- error
UTG calls $0.20
Hero calls $0.10

In the old hand history format, the "sum" variable in raises meant the amount of money the player put in the pot in that one action. In the new one, however, it seems to mean the amount to which the player raises. In this example, I three-bet to $0.30; I didn't put in $0.30 in addition to the $0.10 I had previously bet.

3.) I haven't tested this one properly, but the HUD didn't show up on a table which had a special character in its name, Knightstown. (That's from the hand history file; inside the iPoker client you just see a box instead of ""). I used to have the same problem with Realtime HUD, which is why I assume the name is the issue. Hands from such tables - there are several with names like that - do get imported, though.

Try backing off the refresh rates. Try them at every 5 hands for the first 100 and then every 10 hands after that. That may make some difference.

just a suggestion. I hope it's not too late for it.

I'd like to be able to graph my averaged postflop aggression (and other stats) vs. hands played to see how my poker has evolved over the last few years. Could this be made at all?

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 10 Release - 02-May-2008) - incl. HUD!

Your missing a very important filter option under the MADE HANDS tab.

You need to add 'NONE' for each made hand tab (ONE PAIR, TWO PAIR etc).

So for example if I wanted to query when I CBET the turn with no pair or
other made hand with no preference as to whether I had overcards or not.

Should be very easy to add.

I'm no sql expert, but if such queries are more or less easily doable for more experienced sql users then we can save holdem_hand_summary.id_hand list into a file using pgAdmin III. Have you considered having possibility in the future to import hand id's list from file so we can make queries beyond filters of PT3 directly in PostgreSQL and then analyze/overview selected hands later with PT3?
You can do a "SELECT id_hand FROM holdem_hand_summary;" and export the results to file if you need a list of hand ids.
Yes, I already got the query working (I added it below in case anyone is interested). The main point is I think it would be pretty sweet if we could have something like "Filter for id_hand's from file" where we feed file containing id_hand per line (received from queries like this) into PT3 and PT3 filters for hands based on fed id's so that we can analyze them closer.

Code:
SELECT id_hand
FROM holdem_hand_player_statistics
GROUP BY id_hand
HAVING SUM(CASE WHEN position = 8 // BB
                 AND id_player = 1 // my id
                THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) = 1
   AND SUM(CASE WHEN position = 9 // SB
                 AND flg_p_fold = FALSE
                THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) = 1
   AND SUM(CASE WHEN position < 8
                 AND flg_p_fold = FALSE
                THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) < 1;

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 10 Release - 02-May-2008) - incl. HUD!

Playing with Beta 10 and it's awesome.

Three suggestions:

1 - Under (tournament) HUD Options, theres a tickbox to display stats from the current blind level only. Is it possible to modify this to a box where you enter the number of previous blind levels you want to use for stats? e.g. '2' for the last two blind levels, etc etc? This would be very useful for tournaments with short blind structures.

2 - If you're an idiot like me, you might initially try to auto import all your saved hand histories. This seems to work, albeit slowly, but it throws up an error message about a log file all the time. Maybe put something in to say 'dont do auto, you need to do manual you blithering idiot'?

3 - This may be a dumb question, but if I play under one name at stars and another on party, how do I set it up to get all stats in one graph?

4 - EV functionality pre commercial release would be fantastic

Not really that good with any software or that but in the latest beta update i've noticed that with the HUD when you play around 40-50 hands on each table it doesn't display.

Every previous version has been fine.

I left the table like that for about 10 more hands then I hit reset button for that table. Table refreshed with everyones stats. Then I noticed that at another table the same thing had occured. I reset that table, same thing, stats come back up. It was like the stats were playing musical chairs or something. After about 200 hands or so I was forced to shut down because it was too annoying.

Also want to let you know that the database that I was first using when this problem occured was a fresh one. I created new database "toxzen" and imported 60k hands that I had played using beta 8 and 9 into that one. The only changes that I've made since beta 9 are I added color ranges to HUD. Hope this is enough info to help.

Reproduce this problem (with the refresh rates at their default). Keep track of the times when stats start disappearing. Attach the PokerTracker.log file to a support ticket on our site, listing the times and tables in your message.

Check the min hands required and/or other filters in the Hud Options.

Attempt 1 sounds like something funky going on with your video card. Make sure you have the latest drivers.

Please reproduce your attempts and attach the PokerTracker.log file to a support ticket. Make sure you give details on which tables weren't showing stats and what time they disappeared.

People like to trash talk PA Hud, but it's a solid piece of software that works incredibly well for 99.99% of people who try it.

The next gen trackers use different methods of displaying stats that take a little more resources. If you have many different groups in your layout, you're going to run into a lot of problems playing a lot of tables. My recommendation is to stick with the default layout and see if you have problems with it.

If Beta 10 is telling him it's expired, then his computer's date is not right. Carefully check both the month and the year.

3. Under whichever name you want to be your default, go to the General tab and under the Alias label, click the Edit button. Find your other screenname and add it as an Alias. Now all your hands will show up under the one name.
4. I think this will have to wait until just after commercial release.

Re: PokerTracker 3 (Beta 10 Release - 02-May-2008) - incl. HUD!

I stupidly didn't save the error log, but it was something like:

Error, cannot open logfile [where the logfile was dated today] (error: 0 the import completed successfully)

I can fairly easily recreate it, if thats helpful?

One other very minor thing

If I color code a stat with a lower limit only, then 'infinites' are not included within that color range. So if I set a color range for AF with 10 as the min, colored red, then those players with infinite agression are still colored white
