Hello,

Thank you for the log file. I have forwarded this issue to our lead developer Josh who will take a look at the issue and try to get it fixed. Thanks for your help.

Best Regards,
David Nilsson

My support ticket is #38861 I am starting to get a little worried since I have not heard anything since the 7th

Is there anyone like Kraada who could give me some type of update thanks
Try making the following change:

CONFIGURE > CONFIGURE HUD > CONFIGURE HUD - Cash > HUD OPTIONS
Try setting the performance level to Level 1.

I get better performance and a very occassional crash with level 1. The Default level seems to be the worst for me. The others are better than Default, but still some noticible differences.

Me too.
Derek did a remote check on my software, downloaded the log but haven't got back to me since. I have left two messages so far.
Hope everything is ok.

Thanks MuckinWinners Ill try it and see how it works. When i crash I usually get the .Mircosoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error

ok so i did 20 hours of housecleaning for both of my databases

at the end i got this:

http://www.bilder-space.de/show.php?...fqG4EF2y5D.jpg

now hand importing speed is an astonishing 5.8 h/sec and table tracker still takes like 5 minutes to load 4 or 5 tables

this and the not popping / only partly popping up hud and some stats not updating make this awesome for me

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that error means you have a corrupted database. There are several reasons for corrupted databases and fixing a corrupted database is complicated, tricky and highly time consuming work with no guarantee of success.

As such, the easiest (and fastest) thing for you to do is going to be to create a new database and reimport your hands into it. You can export the hands from your old database by clicking Database --> Database Management, clicking on your database and clicking Export. Then click New in the Database Management window, create a new database and set it as active and default and import the hands you just exported via the Manual Import (it will be fastest). When you're done, you'll need to run housekeeping once, and then you should be all set.

at least thats something i can do.pls to be helping and how do i avoid it in the future?

I have a databse of 25GB.

'Updating cache' alone takes 9 hours. To give you an impression of my comp's speed.

I want to make a backup,

How long will that take?

and

How much GB will the backup file be?

Had anything otherwise out of the ordinary happened recently?

The backup shouldn't take that long to make, and your backup will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-7G most likely. I'm not sure exactly how well the data compresses.

You'll want to follow the steps in this faq to backup the database properly.

If you're worried about the size of the backup, another option is to keep compressed backups of all of your hand histories, and make backups of the Layouts.pt3, Buddies.cfg, StatDefinitionsCustomized.pt3 and ReportsDefinitionsCustomized.pt3 and you can use those files to restore everything (though it will take a while to import the hands and whatnot, obviously). And it should be noticibly smaller in size than the full database backup.

no, nothing special happened, except a ton of crashes ldo

so i w as trying to export and got this

am i screwed or what

This is going to get complicated, so if you have your hand histories you're likely better off just creating a new database and reimporting from there. I'm assuming you don't, hence the problem.

So:

Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> psql to postgres (or template1, it doesn't matter, just whichever one you see there).

At the command prompt, \l and enter to list all databases.
Then:
\connect <database> where <database> is the one you want to connect to.
\o ExportedHands.txt
and hit enter. Now the output of your next command will be placed in the file ExportedHands.txt. I think this file will be in the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\bin\ directory, but I'm not 100% sure on that so you may need to just search your computer for that filename. If it's not unique, you can change it as the specific name doesn't matter.
then:
SELECT history from holdem_hand_histories;

and hit enter.

If it errors out after 9 hands again, try:
SELECT history from holdem_hand_histories WHERE id_hand > 10;

I'm not sure how much corruption there is in your database. Hopefully by starting with hand #10 (what the above command does) you'll get past the corrupted data. You can obviously change that number as necessary.

All output from commands will go to the designated file though so you shouldn't expect to actually see any output in the command prompt and may want to open the file just to see what's going on in there.

It's possible the crashes caused the corruption. If you've submitted logs via the support system for your crashes, we will get to it and hopefully resolve them for you.

Also, I should announce here that we are actively looking to expand our development team. You can find more details on our forum.

In addition to that, we've discovered that some users that are experiencing PT3 crashes are caused by running SpadeIt alongside PT3. We are looking into this, but in the meantime, if you experience crashing, it's something to check.

Someone help please.
PT3 can't import.

Thanks.
11-15-2008 , 12:02 PM
Fixed!

Please try starting the postgres service: Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL -> Start Service.
If that, and a reboot doesn't work, try stopping the service (Start -> Programs -> Postgres -> Stop Service), running a search on your computer for postmaster.pid and then deleting that file, then restarting the service and see if that helps.

Can you still buy this thing via Stars transfer?

This means that your PostgreSQL database server isn't running.

Go Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL -> Stop Service, then Start -> Programs -> PostgreSQL -> Start Service to restart PostgreSQL. If PostgreSQL doesn't start properly at this point and PT3 doesn't start working, go to C:/Program Files/PostgreSQL/8.x/data and look for a file named postmaster.pid. Once you find that file, delete it, then attempt to restart PostgreSQL as above, and it should start properly.

No, we can only accept Credit Cards, PayPal, or MoneyBooker transfers. None of the poker sites will allow us to accept transfers on their site as payment for PokerTracker any longer. If you cannot purchase via one of the methods above, you have two options:

1. If you are not located in the United States, we have several FREE PokerTracker 3 offers simply by signing up and playing on Titan Poker (iPoker), TonyG Poker (iPoker), or RedKings Poker (OnGame).

2. Have a friend purchase PokerTracker 3 for you via one of the above methods. Once purchased, have him contact us with both of your full name's and email addresses and we will gladly transfer the registration code into your name and email address.

if im redoing my database soon

do u recommend having two different databases for played and mined hands? or is one alright too for performance issues. it would sure be one huge database tho, like 3-5 mil hands
11-17-2008 , 01:06 PM
It really depends how many of your hands are 'played' hands, and how many are 'observed'. If you have a lot of observed hands, multiple DBs make more sense.

This is quoted from the Database / Postgres FAQ.

There isn't a limit to the number of hands a database can hold, other than disk space, but when your databases get very big you will start to lose performance. When this happens really depends on your system.

The recommendation for large scale datamining like this is to create a new database each month or 2 to import your observed hands into while importing all your 'played' hands into the active database (see the 'Databases' section on the auto import tab to configure where to import played and observed hands).
If you run housekeeping on your databases (as recommended here) they should stay pretty fast, and once you've finished importing into the 'september08' DB and moved onto 'october08' you will not need to re-cache it again now that you're not importing into it any more. Then after a few months you can remove old DBs from the HUD (or even delete them).

i tried this and it worked until i entered the \o exportedhands.txt

It wouldnt create a file or do something else
btw, i had to enter \connect to database without the brackets or it wouldnt work.

might it be a different command? i couldnt find the file anywhere, too

and i tried what some1 else from ur support told me, to enter this line

zero_damaged_pages = on

into the postgresql config file with reloading etc to let it remove corrupt data, but this didnt do much, coz the same error popped up
11-18-2008 , 01:32 PM
Sorry for being unclear <database> meant "your database name", not your database name, included in brackets.

\o plus a filename should work just fine and it should, I think, write the file in C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\bin\ ; if you're in Vista you may need to have your command prompt running as administrator, or disable UAC before trying this as that might cause you to be unable to write to the Program Files directory tree.

Alternately try something like:

\o C:\HandHistories.txt and that might work.
11-19-2008 , 01:53 PM
played | postgres | SQL_ASCII
postgres | postgres | WIN1252
template0 | postgres | WIN1252
template1 | postgres | WIN1252
(6 rows)

postgres=# \connect played
You are now connected to database "played".
played=# \o C:\handhistories.txt
C:: Permission denied
played=#

this is with vista, UAC turned off and ran as admin
11-19-2008 , 02:21 PM
Try creating a blank file in notepad and saving it as C:\handhistories.txt and then see if you can output to it via the same command you just used. (I'll keep looking to see if I can find other workarounds but that's the first one that comes to mind.)

ETA: also, try C:/Handhistories.txt as the backslash might be the issue.
