a quick benchmark:

I started importing at 600-700 h/s. After 15 million hands into a single DB, I'm importing at 270 h/s... and that's without clustering or analyzing at any point.

How are you guys importing hands that quickly?

It took me like 4 hours to import 40k hands...

I got toshiba satellite intel celeron 1.5gh, gig of ram..

only 3 gigs of space tho..

Yeah wtf, I got 84 hands/h doing like 3 mil hands and it's not like my comp is slow (2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM).

Or maybe it is slow, I don't know, I've had it for a little over a year now.

I installed Beta9 over Beta10, but it crashes on start:

2008/05/03 03:05:48.827: [- Main -][ConnectionManager] Unable to load setting. Reason: Unsupported database type: ()

Deleting Beta10 database using pgadmin and removing references to Beta10 databases from the PokerTracker.cfg file didn't make any difference. I don't get it, I didn't make any importing to earlier beta database with the Beta10 client.

EDIT: ok nevermind, had to do clean uninstall from control panel first.

Q6600 + 4GB RAM + 2x WD Raptor 10,000rpm sata drives in RAID 0

wow, 600-700 hands ?? wow. lol

as for the question that josh asked, my computer is pretty much brand new, less than a month old, with a brand new up to date video drivers...

It's a Q6600 with 2GB of PC8500 ram. While I understand that the raptor 10k rpm drives are faster than mine... I do have a SATA 7200rpm HD. and i'm still getting 15ish hands/sec.

I even cancelled my import, restarted the computer, and still super slow imports.

My roomate is trying to dl pt3 and it keeps telling him that there is a new version and to go to the website. He has uninstalled it and reinstalled it so many times. Any ideas?

Orentha,

you also gotta factor in the fact that it's a RAID 0 setup and I'm getting probably 1.5-2x read/write speed of just a single drive.

I'm having a problem with individual grouped stats disapearing randomly while multitabling 9 tables on FTP.

I'm only running FTP, PT3, Firefox, Antivirus on vista.

Computer specs are Quadcore Q9300 2.5gh + 4GB RAM

It IS NOT because I have not created a NEW database. I imported the hands sucessfully using the "Import from Directory" in the Manual Import.

1) Created a new database
2) Imported hands from 2008 using Manual Import - Import from directory
3) Opened table and started Auto-Ipmort
4) This was the result
5) Opened my stats in Holdem Tab -- They were present and looked correct, except for the hands above
6) Imported problematic hands using Manual Import
7) Made this post

There is something wrong with the Auto-Import function, at least for us.

I will attach my log file to a PT3 support ticket and ID myself to relate to this post.
Make sure you change the "Import Played Hands" database to the new database. Even though I changed my default and active database to the new database that field was not updated. It's on the Import screen just to the right of the site list.

They also come back for a while if a reset.

Can there be a 'treat as heads up or 2max' for tournaments as well as 'treat as normal' and 'treat as 6max'?

I'm having trouble converting one of my PT2 databases. When I go to Database-->Convert-->Convert PT2 database, the database I want to convert is not in the list that pops up.

How can I fix this problem?

If you don't have the hand history files saved in your PT2 database, then PT3 can't convert it at this time. If you don't have your PT2 databases converted to PostgreSQL, you must do that first.

There are lots of things that can influence import speed. For example, my antivirus software was set to read files on access. When I disabled that, my import speed doubled. 15 h/s is slower than anyone should be getting. I don't recall if I've requested this already or not, but please attach your PokerTracker.log file to a support ticket on our site.

What version does PT3 show on the titlebar once it loads?

What happens if you start a fresh database and only read from it? Does this still happen?

If it's not a PostgreSQL database and not on the server you first configured PT3 to read, it won't appear on the list.

"old dabases" after i installed beta 10 on beta 9 and restart pt3. i assume that beta 10 is using a different database structure or some kind of improved alg.

so the question is that do i need to create a new database and do the import again for beta 10? it will take about a day for me but it's ok.

i don't see anybody talking about this issue in the forum after beta10 so i am just trying to make sure that i am not doing something stupid.

thanks

It doesnt even load. It says version expired with no version showing at all.

Josh,

Have you posted a summary of the database changes? Also, at first glance, it appears you didn't add a flg_f_donk stat, correct?
05-02-2008 , 09:49 PM
"Unable to log-in to database. Reason: server closed connection unexpectedly etc etc"

Only dl'd it today, worked okay earlier though.

edit - it seems postgres isnt turned on, and wont turn on either. I installed Vista SP1 this evening aswell. how do i fix this?

Yes, as mentioned repeatedly, you do.

I assume this is PA after answering the same question a gazillion times:

The HUD for some reason has stopped displaying stats after upgrading to beta 10. It still shows the hands and the board, but no stats. How do I figure this problem out?

I run FTP on Vista.

How do I display both databases? I created a new one for beta 10 and imported the hands. Now it only displays the stats of both seperately (i have to switch database every time). How do I show the combined stats?

That's a different message than you said earlier. Have him fix the date on his computer.

No, I haven't posted a summary. There are more changes coming too. I haven't added flg_f_donk because it's possible to generate that stat with the data already in there. I'll be adding the stat soon.

I run FTP on Vista.
Change the Hud Options to only read from one database. Reading from more than one causes it not to work properly. This will be fixed in the next release.

You'll need to wait until the next beta. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Started a fresh database with 0 hands in it. Played 9 tables on ftp while auto importing. Seemed to run fine for a little while. Then after about 150 hands played same problem started to occur again. All stats on players disapeared on one table except for my stats and the players to the right and left of me. I left the table like that for about 10 more hands then I hit reset button for that table. Table refreshed with everyones stats. Then I noticed that at another table the same thing had occured. I reset that table, same thing, stats come back up. It was like the stats were playing musical chairs or something. After about 200 hands or so I was forced to shut down because it was too annoying.

Also want to let you know that the database that I was first using when this problem occured was a fresh one. I created new database "toxzen" and imported 60k hands that I had played using beta 8 and 9 into that one. The only changes that I've made since beta 9 are I added color ranges to HUD. Hope this is enough info to help.
