Recently, I've been having trouble booting up PokerTracker. I recently intalled an update, but I also recently disabled the postgres username on my computer, which I never logged on under anyway.

In the past I could start PokerTracker up, but could not import hand histories as I hadn't downloaded postgres. When I downloaded postgres my computer would offer me two accounts to login under when windows started up. I tried to log on under the 'postgres' username, but it required a password I didn't know of, and so couldn't log on to my computer under that username. That didn't seem to matter though, because when I used my regular username PokerTracker was finally able to import hands. I recently disabled the postgres username so I could boot up my computer without having to select a user.

Now I can't start PokerTracker at all, because it prompts a window titled 'Configure PostgresSQL Database,' which contains pre-entered data, but fails to 'create' a database when I simply select the 'Create' button. So, at this point I'm not sure whether the recent PokerTracker update installation is causing this issue, or if it is the fact that I disabled the postgres username, which I never used anyway when I booted up the computer. By the way, self-diagnosing the latter is difficult because I can't rember how I disabled the postgres username , but I cross my fingers that it isn't the problem because I prefer my computer to login automatically!

Thanks for any help!

want to filter for hands, where I defended SB/BB vs co/button/SB steal. The built in filter only is for a general steal from all steal positions. How can I do this?

how do i delete some play-money hands (which i had to play to tune-up my hud) ?

i think pt3 don't allow selective purge but it has to be a way or a workaround to get rid of those play-money from my db...

You can't filter for hands against a specific position open in PT3, but that functionality has been added already for PT4.

We do have selective purge, click Database --> Database Management --> Purge to purge selectively from your database.

The 'postgres' user is necessary for PostgreSQL to function, and in turn PT3 needs PostgreSQL to work, so it depends exactly what you did.
You do not need to log in as the postgres user, so if you only hid that user then it should still work, but if you removed it then you will need to re-install PostgreSQL.
If you only hid the user try username=postgres and password=dbpass, which is our default password if PostgreSQL was installed by PT3, or try 'postgrespass' if you previously tried another tracker. If you installed PostgreSQL manually you would need to use the password you entered during the installation.

If that doesn't work please start a new thread in the forum, or open a support ticket, on the PokerTracker website where we will be able to help you more directly.

In PT3 you can only see all-in EV for individual hands, so you need to be graphing "by hands" to be able to enable the all-in EV line.
PT4 has ICM calculations built-in and will allow you to overlay adjusted results.

Txs. BTW, is PT 4 free for people, such as myself, who already own the 3.0 versions?
03-03-2012 , 02:08 PM
PT4 will be free for people who bought PT3 since 10 June 2010. For everyone else there will be an upgrade fee - pricing hasn't been announced yet but I'm assured the upgrade will be very affordable.

Are the hands importing for you?
Do you have the PokerStars software installed in English? (you need to)

Check out the HUD and/or Importing FAQs on the PokerTracker website, or start a new thread in the forums there and we'll be able to help you more directly.

It says: unable to connect to this database, please check the configuration ?? anyone know what I have to do now?

Is PostgreSQL installed on your system? If so, try the password postgrespass and that may work for you - if not, you will need to install PostgreSQL.

I think I removed it a while ago and wasn`t in the dustbin no more, how do I download that? there are like tons of variables of it. Have to mention I had downloaded holdemmanager don`t know if that changes things.

That uses the password I mentioned - you can follow our Uninstall/Reinstall guide from our website. You can find it on our website by going to the Support -> Guides -> Databases area and they will walk you through exactly what to do and where to go to reinstall PostgreSQL successfully.

Ok right now I came pretty far, but it is not accepting the password: svcPASS83.
it says: Invalid username specified.

Follow the steps that tell you how to delete the user via the command line and then you'll be able to enter a new password of your choice.

I tried PT3 on a Mac a year ago and it didn't work out for me so I never looked at it again. I've been multi-tabling around 25+ tables on Merge Network normally SNG tables. I was wondering if anybody here have any issues mass tabling on a Mac. I'd like to give it a try again if PT3 can handle 25+ tables at the same time.

Thanks

Is there an option within the HUD settings to show table averages for things like VPIP somewhere and pot size etc?
03-06-2012 , 03:53 AM
You need to add a new Group to the HUD and set it to 'Table Averages: Show on Table', and then you can add stats like you would for any other group. This will show the average value of the stats you add for the players currently at the table. Pot size isn't a stat which is in the database, so isn't available as a table average.

installed pt3 for on my pc today. when i click the icon to open it, nothing ever comes up but the pokertracker.exe is running in the background. i installed the beta first, but deleted it when i was having this problem and installed the other version. same thing is happening. im on windows 7, what can i do to solve this?
03-08-2012 , 03:52 AM
wporter - Please run PT3 using the "Logging Enabled" option from the Start menu, let PT3 run for 5 minutes and then attach the PokerTracker.log file from the main PokerTracker 3 folder to a support ticket on the PokerTracker website.
If you open a support ticket or start a new thread on the PokerTracker website we'll be able to help you more directly.

What stats should I analyse in order to get better in tournaments ? How should I proceed to see my flaws and good plays ?

Does PT3/4 HUD have the ability to filter by number of players left? Like if i play 9max SNG and there are 3 players get paid. I'd like to know how players play when there are 4 players left. Is it possible for PT3/4 to do that?
