Is the Optimization tool from awhile ago still useful with the latest versions. I had my computer crash and reinstalled and am wondering if rerunning it is going to be beneficial.

Just found out I'm using an old version (3.00) which seemingly doesn't allow me to get the stats up when replaying hands. This is a major bummer. I'm going to have to update now. Where are all my hands stored?

For postgres?
Certainly optimizing postgres will help performance.

Yes, Build 3 is very old and you really should update.
When you update it will update your databases and you shouldn't need to do anything.
Since you're updating from such an old version it is possible you may have problems so make sure you have the hand history files just in case - either the originals (which are probably in the PokerTracker 3\Processed folder) or by doing an export before you update.

Yes. Can you put a link to it here? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

When I go to Export, it says:

"Select directory to export". Which one am I choosing here?

Also, before using PT3 I used HEM, and I transferred about 128k hands into PT3. Where are they now?

EDITED.

That directory is where the hands you export are going to go. Any hands you imported into PT3 via the auto import are moved automatically to the C:\Program Files\PokerTracker 3\Processed directory - manually imported hands are not moved. If you're asking where the database is, it is stored in whatever directory you have PostgreSQL installed in (by default that's C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.x\data\base\ where x is either 3 or 4 most likely).

I recently moved and just got my internet set up. When I try to open up my PT3 it says:

"PokerTracker was unable to contact the registration server to activate your product. Please make sure that PokerTracker.exe is allowed full internet access through any firewalls installed on your computer. For more information on allowing pokiertracker internet access through your firewall please visit pokertracker.com/products/pt3/docs/?doc=firewall"

When I try to click on the link it provides my computer/internet wont bring it up.

It allows me to run the "trial version" of PT3 but is not something I want to do.

Please read our Firewall Guide - this is often a permissions issue.

If you can't access that link then try another browser. If you still can't see it then you probably have more general internet issues with your new setup.

hey there, every time i close a hand replayer, the propgram freezes/shuts down. Is this a common problem? thnx.
06-21-2010 , 10:19 AM
No it isn't. If you're not using 3.07.1, please try upgrading first to see if that helps - if it doesn't or you're already using that version, please report this problem so that we can investigate further for you.

can somebody point me to a place where I can find out how to change what my HUD shows? And also what are the more common set ups people use?

thank you!

Please see the HUD FAQ. You can find layouts you can download and use for free in the repository.

I downloaded a layout and followed the instructions on how to import and run the layout - but when I run PT3 and play the same default layout keeps coming up.. what do I do to get the new layout to appear?
06-24-2010 , 09:56 AM
PT Icon --> Change Layout --> Select the new layout you want to see. If you like it, PT Icon --> Change Layout --> Set Active Layout to Default.

wow you've been really helpful, thank you!

I'd still like to see a TT score as a HUD stat.

We realise this has the same effect to you, but it won't be done again and we do have safeguards in place to make sure our servers don't remain "down" for any length of time.
We apologise for the problems.

I've paid for PT3 and cannot use it.
'Pokertracker was unable to save your registration' yada yada...

Yes I am running it as Admin. Is this going to be a recurring problem? I mass table and I am not comfortable doing so without a hud.

The post you quote was from April - that issue was fixed very quickly and on the same day. Are you still experiencing problems since April?
06-30-2010 , 09:16 PM
Hi, was hoping to get help with a problem I am having with PT.

I am new to much of this online poker software. I am trying out the free trial of PT3 for the Mac. Don't know if it's frowned upon, but I purchased a database of hand histories to upload. Problem is, the uploading of the hands to PT3 freezes or crashes. When I try to upload smaller samples at a time, they come up as invalid hand IDs. Help. Thanks a lot.
07-01-2010 , 11:39 AM
It is frowned upon by most sites - depending on the site you purchased the hands for you may be in violation of the terms of service if you attempt to use that data while you play.

We have had issues in the past with hand histories of specific formats causing problems; if you attach some of the hands with problems to a support ticket we will investigate further for you.
