99k, funkyj, DC, and everyone - I really appreciate your support of the apps, thank you. Great to know that fellow poker players are liking them.
V.2.91 has gone live with the email hand and results feature.
Here's an example of an export:
==========
PokerCruncher V.2.91
(Equity Tie Win)
Player 1: 39.9% 0.49% 39.7% [Qs,Qh]
Player 2: 60.1% 0.49% 59.8% {AA-KK, AKs, AKo}
Board: [?,?,?,?,?]
Deal To: River
Dead Cards: []
Monte Carlo Simulation: 54000 random hands
==========
The last line tells if a Monte Carlo sim was done or a complete enumeration (exact, is done if all player cards are specific cards and all flop cards are specified) e.g.:
Complete Enumeration: 990 of 990 possible hands
I've pointed out that PokerCruncher has more features than PokerStove (the Deal-To-Flop/Turn/HoleCards feature that lets you do flop texture analysis, hand histograms and many stats) but I should also point out a weakness. You'll notice that PokerStove can usually simulate millions of hands in the same time that PokerCruncher takes for several tens of thousands of hands. The 3GS is a few times faster than the 3G but even this doesn't get Cruncher close.
We talked about this early in this thread. The difference between iPhone and pc CPU speeds is part of the reason, but this is also because Cruncher currently uses a "naive" hand evaluator and not one of the highly optimized ones that use pre-computed lookup tables, etc. The advantage of the current naive algorithm is that it's very general, allowing me to add the many additional stats and Deal-To-Flop and the range equity breakdown heat map easily.
I have a long-term goal of plugging in an optimized evaluator (can't promise this though). Currently the error margin is a few tenths of 1%. I don't have the statistics knowledge needed but I estimate I would need to speed it up at least 10x to get the error down to one tenth of 1%. The current error margin isn't too bad I think so I've focused on adding new features. Hope you enjoy and thanks again.
