It works again but it seems to be acting funky again on mined hands. It reads the folder with the mined hands but when i hit options and navigate to file to keep an eye on the progress it instantly goes to zero. That may not be very clear but when i open sleuth it reads the file and says parsing x bytes of hands. then when i try to navigate to the files menu under sleuth options it instantly says parsing 0 hands.

Are you speaking of what the Poker Sleuth tray icon says when you hover the mouse over it? (It sounds like you are, but I just want to make sure)

If so, what does the completion bar for the file show?

yes i am speaking of what the icon says when you move the mouse over it. As far as your second question is concerned the bar does not appear anymore.

Okay, so if I understand correctly, when you open the Files tab, the datamined file isn't shown in the tab (or disappears right away). At the same time, the text when hovering over the tray icon changes to show 0 bytes remaining.

If I have that right, then Poker Sleuth is unable to understand the data-mined file at all. Previously you sent me a sample datamined file from the Cereus network. I tested that file just now and it still works (at least for me ).

Are you adding datamined files for other poker sites or acquired from different sources? If so, send a new sample file to support@pokersleuth.com and I'll fix Poker Sleuth so it can understand them.

If the troublesome files are also for Cereus and from the same source, let me know and I'll try harder to reproduce the problem with the file I already have.

Thanks!

yes that is exactly what is happening. They are all still from cereus I will try again as i have a fresh batch of mined hands. Just opened sleuth and it says parsing 0 hands

ok i just put the mined hands in a separate file from where ub writes hands and sleuth is at least seeing the hands again.

Still no progress and i would just like to add that ub has done several updates since i sent you that file.

why does this program take so long? It took hours to parse a folder with 2k hands in it.

I've been busy fixing bugs and adding features, so I haven't spent any time on optimization yet.

By default, Poker Sleuth will parse at only 5% of full speed if you are actively using your computer. If you are idle (no typing or mouse movement), it will parse MUCH faster. I can't promise that it will be fast, but it will at least be faster. You can change the settings so Poker Sleuth will always parse at full speed, if you prefer. It's in the Files tab.

By the way, thank you for all of the feedback. I appreciate it and I'm working hard to address all of the issues you're bring up. I just wish I had a few clones so I could work on all of them at once.

Darn. I don't have a quick-fix then. I will optimize the ever-living bejezus out of the parser eventually, but it's not quite at the top of the priority list yet.

It's coming, fear not. The next beta includes several bug fixes, a major speed up to the hand parser, and the ability to create new statistics for Poker Sleuth to track.

I'm hoping to get it out by the end of the week. End of the month at the absolute latest.

No, it's definitely supposed to work. Probably Stars changed something when I wasn't looking. I'll take a look at it tomorrow to see what's going on. I may push out a new beta with a fix just for Stars, in which case the beta AFTER that will have all of the new goodies.

The Poker Sleuth HUD works fine for me on Stars, so there must be something different about your setup. Here are several things to try to help diagnose the problem:

Check that Poker Stars is writing hand histories to the disk

In the "Directories" tab of the Poker Sleuth Options, check that the Poker Stars hand history directory is listed.

In the "Files" tab, check that new Poker Stars hand history files appear.

Right click the Poker Sleuth tray icon and start Poker Notes. Check that your new Poker Stars hands appear in Poker Notes.

In the "Errors" tab, check to see if Poker Sleuth is reporting parse failures.

If all of those seem OK, here's one more thing to try. Exit Poker Stars and Poker Sleuth. Start Poker Stars and wait for it to get to the main lobby screen. Then start Poker Sleuth, and try again.

In any case, let me know what you find.

Thanks!

You're quick. The latest beta includes the following improvements:
  • A new "Stats" tab in the options where users can create their own stats
  • Greatly improved the speed of the parser
  • Fixed Full Tilt auto-detection, which was failing on some systems
  • Many other bug fixes

There's a new "Stats" tab in the options window where you can create your own stats. There's no documentation yet, but the code for most of the regular stats (VPIP, PFR, etc.) are visible as examples.

Here's my rough plan of what I'll be adding next:
  • Add a bunch of stats that users have requested
  • Update the OnGame support to work with their major new release
  • Improve layout engine, so you can configure more stats to appear when you mouse over a stat, click on a stat, etc.
  • Add ability to break stats down by position
  • Document the language for creating stats

what would the code be for raising in any given position?

For example lets say we want to know how often a player raises when they are 5 seats away from the button.

One stat i would like to see is a very simple but important one imho. How many hands to we have on the villain. Right now we have no way to get that to show in the hud.
