Poker Academy Prospector 2 - Requires Beta Testers Poker Academy Prospector 2 - Requires Beta Testers

12-01-2008 , 04:51 PM
Poker Academy is quickly ramping up to release the 2nd version of Prospector. We would like the community's help in beta testing our product to ensure it meets the needs of the players.

Prospector 2 now features a completely new tournament statistics feature. The power of Prospector's filtering can now be applied to Tournament data.

Also, Prospector 2 is now completely compatible with Mac OSX.

We have added manual session tracking for live games or other types of games, as well we have added manual bonus tracking entry.

New filters have been added for board cards, board texture, preflop and post-flop context. We have also added many new statistics such as 3bet,4bet and into-betting.

Prospector also has an easy and user friendly installation process that does not require a Postgres SQL install. Installation is quick and simple and requires no restarts.

From the beta testers we choose we ask for feedback. We have a series of questions that we would like you to answer regarding your experience with Prospector. In return, you will received a free copy of Prospector.

Please send us the following information to support@poker-academy.com, and if you are chosen we will contact you with a key and download location for the beta:

1. Name / Email
2. Sites you play on / Frequency

to: support@poker-academy.com

We look forward to working with you and making Prospector the best.

A lot of people were complaining about the lack of updates for PAP v1 on your forum.

Am I right in thinking those who purchased v1 will have to pay again for v2?

Prospector 2 will be a free upgrade for all current users of Prospector 1.

And if you help us beta test, you get a free copy.

Oh, didn't realize

You should hopefully get quite a few here to beta it for you.

So far importing hand histories from PokerStars is working fine. Building up more data so I can test out the reporting a little better.

What sites are supported?

I installed this smoothly on an XP system.

Importing Poker Stars hands was very easy and intuitive. Hand histories were imported quickly compared to PT3 and HM. I was able to easily delete sessions like freerolls and observed hands from other testing sessions to raise the validity of data.

I have barely touched the surface of all the reporting and filtering options. I've also found it to be very handy that the application is multiple window enabled so you can have run multiple reports simultaneously and then tweak each report via filters or by selecting various report views of the data. You can drill down to the hands that make up the current report at anytime. ( If your report windows are not full screen it would be nice if each window was opened in a staggered cascade or have that as an option.)

There is special report section to help analyze various sections of your game like stealing, aggression, continuation bets and some luck analysis (currently 12 reports in this section). In the luck sections it would be nice to see some more options like EV and hitting flush / straights.

You can have multiple databases (only one active) and even have automatic scheduled backups complete with a restore function.

The only real problem that I have found is that the Double or Nothing tournaments are not really supported and causes some unusual side effects in the tournament reporting such as some being identified as $0 entry fee tournaments even though they are raked tourneys. I'm sure it would be fairly easy to have this resolved based on the overall high quality and design aspects of the product.

Still no issues to date. The various reports are proving helpful, spotting some weaknesses in my game that I'm working on addressing. Now if there was a HUD...

is this project still happening?

Not sure - the site has been down since 12-1. Kinda sux that I bought PA2 a while ago for the same features that are now PAP2 and I have to pay being that hand import into PA2 is no longer supported. Sort of screwed thier existing cutomers who already paid $149 AFAIK. Applied to beta test and the next day the site was gone so who knows.

I would like better support for tournament summaries. As stands, prospector does a wonderful in the analysis of STTs, but some of the tournies have incomplete data for some reason, and tourney summaries (Pstars) are not supported AFAICT

They have been around for a long time. I'm sure they are not trying to hit-n-run now, since they could have done that a long time ago.

Hello,

We are still in business. Unfortunately, our webserver has crashed. The web provider we used also did us a huge disservice by not meeting our contract with them, so we have to rebuild and repiece the site together from the back ups that we have that they were supposed to be doing for us.

We are working hard to get things back up and running.

We are still working on bringing the site back up. This process is quite time consuming as we are now switching hosts (can you blame us?)

For the people that are beta testing, is there anything that you have come across to talk about? Feedback in this thread would be just as good as in our forums or via email.

Thank you.

Have you checked out the tournament editor? You can manually setup each tourney and fill in the fields that were left blank. A lot of the stuff is left to guess if there is no tournament summary to accompany the data.

If you do have summaries that didn't get parsed in correctly could you email them to us?

this seems like a noob question but: does this software support cash games and what stakes?

We do indeed support cash games at any stakes.

This is for Texas Hold Em only.

Program is rocksolid, no bugs encountered or crashes.

Only real peeve I have for it is that it would not import the tournament summaries I get emailed from stars, with like my last 1K tournament results to ensure all is up to date.

Obviously you can do it manually, but it is waaay to laborious for me.

Oh, and also, more output options for hand histories. I could PM you a few more forums and their formats (the formats they use for easy implementation)

Its nice that I can hide away my rol and results altogether, and only look at them when I purposefully am trying to. One more thing: in the tourney stats, if you make the y-axis labeled "Tournament Chips" or "T$" instead of "Dollars" it would make more sense to everyone.
01-03-2009 , 02:00 AM
Yup, it misses a few tournament outcomes but can not import emailed summaries (pokerstars).

I would also need an extra output format with cards in like the following format;

:4c: for 4 of clubs, :kd: or :Kd: or maybe even :KD: for King of diamonds, etc.

Also, the output for blogs can suffer when the word color CSS on the blog differs. It would show up as nearly illegible, for instace, when white text is required (the rest of the blog properly formatted) on a black background.

Hello Jere,

Thank you for your report.

I would love to get your formatting ideas to my email: support@poker-academy.com

As for the Pokerstars email summary, did you try copying the email contents to a text file and importing that? Did it still fail?

If you can send me the failed tournament outcomes also we can see what went wrong. support@poker-academy.com

Thanks again for your feedback.

Sorry for my delayed response, I was out of town. I will be out of town again next friday.

One observation: While importing the tournament summmaries Stars mails me (copied into a standard Text file), I get a warning from Notepad that certain objects in the file are encoded using "Unicode", and If I save in Ansi I will lose some detail. So, I proceed to save it in "Unicode", and afterwards it does not import in Prospector. I get a "cannot find parser" error.

If I change the formatting to "Ansi", it imports (importing... file parsed succesful). Then I get the tournament results to show up properly in the "Database" tab.

As for the hand-history formats, I'll send you an email ASAP.
