Say I want to split original starting range in to subgroups and maybe later to split those subgroups in to another subgroups too, can't do that efficiently because I am able to work with whole matrix. Imagine range has 75% combos of AA, I want to make one subgroup using 20% weight, another for 80% weight and later select one subgroup for next street analysis. Can't do that now...it just treats whole matrix as parent range
Exactly. I was going to write an email to the author and tell him exactly this, among other comments.
Just in case he doesn't know what we mean, it is this:
That matrix is awesome because it allows the user to cut down the range of villain for the next decision graphically combo by combo and it considers the old range as the new 100%, and the new range as a % of the old range.
Example: villain calls with 30% of hands preflop. Then on the flop we want to calculate his fold range and continuing range. With the equilab matrix we can lock this preflop range (we need to do a equity run for this) and this 30% becomes the new 100%, and then we graphically select all the combos we think he will continue with, and to consider the rest as the range he will fold with. If, say, we select 25 combos we believe he continues with, and leave untouched the 25 combos we think he will fold, equilab will shows hus we have selected 50% of the combos.
This is very useful when using pokertracker stats to infer ranges pre and post flop.
Equilab has the limitation that this only works after an equity run.
I am looking for software that allows the mentioned function withount doing and equity run, and that allows me to do this process repeatedly, in several iterations.
Well, that's about the matrix. A couple of other things:
-In Oranges, the predefined ranges are only present in the main window, but not in other screens where one would need it (for instance the RvsR window).
- in the main window the button "reset all" seems to clear all the input. Something like that is needed in other windows as well.
- The fold equity calc would be more helpful if it could also work with other factors of the eqution as unknowns (for instance i know the fold equity but want to know the equity needed when called, or if i know both of thos values and need to know the right bet size, etc).
Hopefully this helps and hopefully some of this could be implemented (specially the hand matrix).
