Email sent to you and KeithX.

It's interesting apparently two or three people created a 2+2 account to participate in the Xypto beta (which is only open to 2+2 members as of now

Note to all beta-testers: it's still a beta and the software crashes on purpose on any exception encountered (instead of trying to be "self-healing", which it shall be later on). For example if the software encounters an "out of memory error" and catches it, then instead of freeing memory (there are a lot of cached stuff that can be discarded from memory if needed) it crashes. This is done on purpose to catch corner cases / see what needs to be enhanced.

So any crash report is welcome. Thankfully crashes appears to be very rare

0.85 is nearing completion. Screenshots of the new HUD Layout Editor and new cool HUDs shall be coming in a few days.

Hi-

I would like to beta test Xypto. I sent you an email.

I play $5NL on Pstars with a Powerbook G4 1GHZ PPC 1GB RAM OS X 10.5.8

Good news for all PPC owners: Xypto actually works quite well on 'older' Macs

It won't be as fast as more recent setups (one beta-tester has a 16 GB of ram octo-core, I'm jealous ; ) but Xypto works on PPC...

To all people "on hold" for beta 0.85: it's coming Real Soon now [TM]

Hey I'd also be down for testing this, looks a really cool app.

I'm playing $5 and $10NL on Stars on an Intel Macbook.

TacticalCoder - looks like you're doing an amazing job at getting this up and running! Startups are hard work, but lots of fun.

Not sure if you're familiar with 37signals (think they are the people behind ruby on rails and basecamp, among other things...), but they've got a nice ebook/series of articles on software startups, getting stuff out as quick as possible, and other issues you're sure to deal with. http://gettingreal.37signals.com/toc.php if you're interested.

I'm pretty new to poker, and very new to poker software, I'd like to be a beta tester, though I'm not sure how much feedback I'll be able to offer. Please hook me up via email mu.ea AT hotmail com

'Best.

Indeed... I've worked for a business-angel backed startup (now VC-backed) in southern California when friends of mine just started it, loved it!

Anybody is welcome

I'll send invite to erfy66, you and those who asked that I already contacted as soon as the next beta release is out. I'd say that is going to be in less than 48 hours

Hey, how is your tracker doing? Is there a way to try it?

PM sent.

I would strongly encourage those of us with significant post counts to give good feedback within this thread. The high proportion of new accounts posting can make the OP's work seem sketchy, even though that's not the fault of OP or the newbies.

^ I'm looking for some feedback as well. Spill the beans guys!

All invites sent.

I could not invite beer***** nor tank**** for they are blocking PM and apparently didn't give me any email.

Ah keep in mind it's just a beta 0.85, which is why I need feedback and help to make this work better.

There are quite a thing that needs to get enhanced: no enough stats at all, no tourney/SnG support yet (but HUD works), no HUD filtering, etc.

But I'm getting there... Focus shall now be put on fixing irritating little bugs/adding cool but missing features, etc. Then I started researching how to do good SnG reporting and filtering and start to have a good idea as to what I'm going to do. There are several beta testers helping me for SnG support, which is great.

Meanwhile I'm happily grinding long cash games session (it's beta-testing of course ; ) using a new HUD layout I made myself using the new HUD Layout Editor:

(this screenshot shows a FullTilt HUD layout editing session [the background table is blurred on purpose, but it helps adjusting everything]. I don't recommend using such a layout and it's not the layout I'm using [I'm grinding on Stars] but it's just to show that it changed quite a lot compared to the old "HUD Configuration" tool).

Small SNAFU: latest beta is 0.85 build 1054 but it shows up as 0.84 build 1054. No big deal, sorry for the confusion : )

People apparently prefer to give help & feedback by email or on the Xypto forums, which is fine too at this point.

Crashes can happen, bugs shall be found and smashed!

11-17-2009 , 05:32 PM
I forgot to say... People keep asking if they can try it: anyone from 2+2 is welcome and it shall be like that until I go to a public beta (when we'll have our website ready).

If I forgot anyone simple re-PM/re-post/re-email me

FYI, Xypto doesn't handle Limit at this point. It won't even import your Limit hands, so no HUD, and no point in me testing further at this point. Sigh.

Several beta-testers asked for it and hence... I spent my whole day adding fixed limit support

Limit games are now supported both in the reports and for the HUD (players names are faked):

Blinds amount should be correctly differentiated (as on the screenshot) but it's still a beta, so everything is not 100% done yet...

Full-Ring, 6-max and heads-up hands, for example, are still mixed together in the reports.

And the default HUD layouts are not nice. But it's configurable (not all configuration options are available, but it gives a good idea of what the final HUD Layout Editor is going to look like).

Some tiny bugs reported from yesterday's release have been fixed too.

So all cash games limit players can try it too now.

Note that for tourney limit, it's the same as for tourney cash games: HUD works, but no filtering yet and no reports yet. But at least the HUD works now for limit games too : )

Talk to you all soon,

TacticalCoder
