I tried this but gave up on it. My first attempt seemed to be giving wrong numbers and I couldn't figure out why. I later found that my ICM calculations were wrong in multiway pots. In any event, you can only do ICM in single table tourneys because you need the chip counts of all players in the tourney. Even if you knew that in a MTT, the calculations involved would be off the charts.
You know, I ve been thinking a lot about this and here's an idea I had. Ok, doing EV calculations based on ICM seems impossible.
How about measuring how one is running when the tourney gets shorthanded. That would be a good approximation, no? And even if it isn't, it might still be very useful.
The most clear-cut case is when you re Heads Up with someone. No ICM there. I ve been in a tons of heads up at the end of tourneys and I am under the impression that I am running bad in them. Couldn't the program measure just that?
After that, I suppose that doing 2 handed and upward might get more complicated and perhaps is tougher to do, but that could also be useful no? Like how you re running in FTs 5 handed and less. Etc etc.
What do you think? Is it doable?
