re: MonkerSolver

Hello, I'm using a server with 512gb ram. And I can't open saved runs even on the flop. The momery goes up to 18gb ram only usage and it ends up saying that it's out of memory. Im trying to load only 2 streets for the range converter MTT saved runs.

I think 512gb ram is supossed to be able to load this.. I've had a another server with 256 and it was loading.

re: MonkerSolver

Hi guys,

I'm sorry if what I'm about to ask has already been asked in this thread, but this is my only way to get some help

So I am trying to understand how the "Flop Force Frequency" tool works for a preflop solution.

So the simulation I'm actually using is a 8bb deep HU without rake.
And I want the BB to x/r 25% for example, and to x/f 30% against a cbet.

When I'm using "Force Frequency" and that I target a 30% frequency, it looks like it's never going to reach this number...

And then I tried to get closer to it by setting a bounty, and I would like to understand the logic here.

When you set a bounty, Monker gives the formula : Set up x.
And new EV is EV+potsize*x

So Is there someone familiar with bounties here that can help me to understand the x parameter.
Also, is it possible to use directly the frequency parameter ?

Thanks a lot by advance guys.

re: MonkerSolver

How do I use the custom filter to specify a bet for a certain # of chips?

I've tried "200c", I've tried "Bet 200c", nothing works.

Same thing with me I have 256g available (set to use up to 240g) and trees are I try building trees estimates at well below that and the solver craps out with only 200 gigs used.

I have 256gig of RAM and, set to use up to 240gigs, and I routinely get out of memory errors on trees estimated to be well below that.
Try a smaller Xmx setting. For example for a 200g tree, try 204 or 208g.

Does it vary based on tree structure?
The size of the game tree is the primary factor that affects run speed. More complex trees are also slower than less complex trees of the same size (in terms of amount of RAM used).

'>2' excludes nodes where there are exactly two players. '2 players' excludes nodes when there are more than 2 players.

You can set a manual bounty, but if using 'force frequency', the solver will automatically choose one for you. Sometimes it can take a while to converge, but the algorithm is designed to eventually converge on your specified frequency.

If you wanted to simply set a specific frequency, you would have to specify a range for the solver to use that is the equivalent of a 30% betting frequency.

Check the RAM estimate of the game tree you are trying to run, and also make sure that you have enough RAM available in your settings. Given that you have 32GB RAM in your system, realistically you could set '-Xmx' to 24g, as you need RAM for your system to run as well.

This is not a supported feature. You can just set a percentage, AUTO, MIN or BET.

re: MonkerSolver

Can you confirm these are the steps to take to node lock a range? I have a preflop tree built where I force the first player to act to open the pot and I want to node lock a particular open range for him.

1. Create a filter that specifies the range I want to lock in for first to act player's open range

2. Click "Lock Range"

3. Click "Ignore unfiltered" and click the action I want to lock the filtered range to

What happens if I do not click "Ignore unfiltered"?

What is the syntax used to create a range filter?

Curious how long would a 6max tree that's around 200gb would take on a 24 core 3.8ghz CPU. I know this is vague but looking for a ball park figure. Thanks.

Too much time has passed to add to this post but I was also curious if Monker allows you to see the EV of a strategy from each position and not just each individual hand. What I want to do is test different open sizes and see which provide the highest EV from each position. For example a 2.25x raise from LJ produces an EV of a 0.82bb of out of 1.5bb while a 2.1x raise from LJ produces an EV of a 0.84bb.

I have some ranges .mkr files that were solved by a friend on a server. Is there some way to view these without needing a full license? I don't think the trial version is able to view them? I would like to access them but I don't need full functionality of the solver so I don't want to spend $500 on a license. Is there a way to view them? Thanks.

The MonkerViewer is free, you can see the ranges there, but first your friend must export the ranges from MonkerSolver. Only the Solver can handle te .mkr files...

re: MonkerSolver

Hey Guys,

I have some problem with scripting, maybe somebody used this function earlier and can help me.

The problem is, that I would like to use the asymmetrical stacksizes function in the scripting menu. There I can add the stacksizes like this: [btn stack, btn+1 stack, btn+2 stack].

I tried a lot of combos but something goes wrong cuz nothing happend:

[btn 50000, btn+1 20000, btn+2 50000] - In this example should be working with the following stack sizes: BTN 25bb, SB 10bb, BB 25bb.

So what could be the problem? Maybe my format or its buggy?

Thanks,
O.

Hello,

Since the last windows update I am not able to run sims anymore. Whenever I try I immediately get Status - "Error: Out of memory". The estimated RAM fort he tree says "Abstraction (16.9GB / 7.00GB). My computer has 64GB of RAM tho. Before the update (I believe it was on Thursday) things were running smooth.

I have this software for 3 years and unable to use it effectively because I CAN'T FIND ANYWHERE how to nodelock a range.

re: MonkerSolver

Can anyone help me with this?

I'm trying to input the ranges for the preflop in a simple HU tree. Raise, re-raise. And I'm trying to give that range for each player, but it's grayed out and unavailable to the click.

I can input and assign ranges when solving for postflop, but not pre? Help would be loved.

You can use PPT syntax to specify ranges in the range filter:

http://www.propokertools.com/oracle_help/range_of_hands

If you do not check 'Ignore unfiltered', then any hand not in the filter will be locked to 0% for the action you are locking to.

You can use the 'Views' feature to aggregate EVs for individual positions.

https://monkerware.com/views.html

Follow the steps outlined, and download the file 'All.txt'.

Your syntax is not correct, you don't need to add 'btn', just the stack size in millichips is sufficient.

E.g.: [50000,20000,50000]

You need to adjust your '.l4j.ini' file from your Monkersolver directory. Adjust the value '-Xmx' upwards to accomodate your game tree estimates. For a 16.9GB game tree, try '-Xmx20g' or if that doesn't work, '-Xmx24g'.

You can not assign ranges to preflop, you have to using the range locking feature from an already running sim for that.

re: MonkerSolver

@IsaacAsimov

Thanks!

Do I have to keep the filter syntax in the filter box for the entire duration of the sim if I want to maintain the nodelock?

Do I need to node lock at the very beginning of the sim for results to make sense? I'm running preflop trees here I force a player to open the pot and I want to node lock the open range instead of opening ATC which is what Monker would have him open unless I adjust that. I would prefer to just use the "Ranges" function in the tree building window but that is always blocked for preflop trees it seems, so node locking seems like the only way to do what I want to do. My concern is if I don't correctly node lock at the very beginning I will get meaningless results.

If I node lock in the middle of a sim will the I/N value change as the downstream nodes get updated? I would expect the I/N to drop initially then move back up as the downstream nodes are recalculated based on the new node locking?

re: MonkerSolver

why the strategies change when I press enter to go from simplified to mixed strategy a few times
the simplified always change its combos (e.g on the first it was 3Betting KJs KQs, after pressing enter twice it is now 3Betting KTs and A9s)...
is there a predefined 4 - 5 solution that show up or the Viewer does some kind of work in real time and choose the combos from the same buckets always with the right %frequencies
