PLO ranges are viewable in Monkerviewer, though I personally think it's better to view from within the solver for the Omaha variants.

It's a bit difficult to say what your issue might be, because we would have to see the folder structure and the files within the folder that you are trying to load.

Have you tried resizing the window to bigger/different sizes, to see if that made a difference?

monker showed a negative ev call here. how to understand that bc folding is zero ev.

the scenario is about cbetting otf as pfr in 3bet pot and getting raised.

re: MonkerSolver

I am trying to learn how monkersolver and monker viewer work. I have a test file and can't figure out how to use monker viewer. How do I setup the folders/files in monkerviewer to see PLO ranges?

When I go into monkerviewer -> local -> I have made a sub folder called "omaha" -> a sub folder "HU" and now I don't know what to put in that folder to make the ranges show up.

any help is appreciated

"MonkerViewer is a simple program used to navigate preflop ranges. Hold'em and Omaha nGTO ranges can be purchased from the store" what is nGTO range?

Right now what I have is a preflop hu plo
solve .mkr and access to monkersolver and trying to make viewable on monkerviewer. It is a HU PLO 100bb

The call is not negative EV. You have 24,000 mchip invested in the pot, so any decision you make from then on is relative to that. -23,000 mchip means calling is +1000 mchip etc.

From the website (http://monkerware.com/faq.html):

"nGTO is an informal term for ε-nash equilibrium strategies. Nash equilibrium strategies maximizes the utility against its worst case adversary, which in zero-sum games means it cannot lose. Nash equilibriums in complex games are usually not attainable. Instead, the term ε-nash equilibrium is used to denote strategies which only lose ε to its worst case adversary. The aim is nevertheless the same - to play as unexploitable as possible."

.mkr is not in Monkerviewer format, and can be viewed only from within Monkersolver. The appropriate file format is .rng:

thx

what about the -24,398 for the 2nd hand? we're invested with 24,1k msb which is exceeded by that.

and what does the 0 and the 0.216 in the last column mean?

The number you see displayed is an average, and is affected by how long the solution has been solving for, and how you use the 'reset' button. For postflop, typically you should solve till at least 10-20 I/N and reset half way through.

The numbers in the last column refer to the amount of combos.

Changing the Xmx setting from 7 to 4 will not affect crashes. Make sure you have 64-bit Java installed and try again. Also make sure the tree you are trying to run fits within the limit you set withing Xmx. You can get RAM estimates from the 'Settings' tab.

For a tree that is estimated to use 2.219g, try the following settings (copy paste this into your config file, replacing any settings that may already be in there):

-Xms3g
-Xmx7g
-XX:+UseStringDeduplication
-XX:+UseG1GC

re: MonkerSolver

I get an error when I try to load a saved run (*.mkr file).

Status: ERROR: java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file.

The saved runs are supposed to be saved as *.mkr files, right?

Any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks
Benjo

Your filter is applied to the game tree (once), there is no need for it to be saved. If you want to open a game tree with those limit settings by default, I would recommend saving a template and then reloading it when necessary.

Monkersolver does not utilise the GPU. Are you saying your entire machine was crashing?

can't figure out how to attach postflop tree to preflop tree. why is there no user manual? no tutorials? no response from support?

.mkr is not in Monkerviewer format, and can be viewed only from within Monkersolver. The appropriate file format is .rng:

Thank you, I have some .rng files, but they will not show up in monkerviewer. Do the files need to labeled like in your picture using a special nomenclature eg. 40100.0.rng? and if so how do I get that information? If I have full version Monkersolver and full sim .mkr, how do I reformat it to this .rng special nomenclature so I can view the SB RFI, BB call/3bet, etc. etc.

Thank you for your response

Load the relevant .mkr file. From within the solve, in the 'Solve' tab, you will need to right-click into the area that contains ranges on the right. Select 'Export preflop ranges for Monkerviewer', this will generate the relevant .rng files and place them in your ranges folder in the appropriate sub-folders.

Your xmx setting, and the amount of RAM available determine how big of a sim you can run. You will need to review the estimate in the 'Settings' tab and determine this yourself.

I would recommend reviewing this 2+2 thread for relevant information. There is a lot of helpful info that can help you.

how to understand 0 and 0.216 combos?

how to understand monker advising a call with a negative ev? i mean, even when the solution isn't as much converged monker shouldnt advise a -ev decision or do i get smth. wrong?

Monker is not telling you to make a minus EV call. What you see is not the same as what the underlying algorithm is computing. Like I said, it's an average of all past EVs. When in doubt let the frequency guide you, and not the EV.

0 and 0.216 combos means that the combos are only fractionally represented in your range. 0 combos means that the hand is essentially not in your range at this point (presumably because the solver has taken another action with the majority of the combos at some point earlier in the game tree).

Are omaha and omaha 8 limited to pot limit? I'd like to run sims for No Limit Omaha 8 or better but it won't let me add the all in option to the sim Any way around this?

It is possible to solve an NL Omaha or Omaha 8 tree using the scripting functionality. You will need to create the game tree using NL as a template and save the tree file. Then you will need to create a new empty game tree for Omaha Hi/Lo. Now, if you select your original game tree from within the 'Solve' tab when starting a script, you will be able to run an Omaha 8 tree with all-in as a bet size option.
