A few reasons:
1. I prefer to see how I'm doing in each overall stake at a glance. I play way fewer HU hands than 3-6 handed hands, and they're all the same "offering" anyway (i.e. there are no HU tables of my stakes) - there are also far fewer full ring games going than their 6max counterparts. Why clutter my results data with 3 stakes when it's mostly one (6max) and rarely the other (full ring)? HU hands in my games are usually when I'm game starting or when a full game has devolved into a HU situation.
2. Keeping the 6max and HU hands the same game will probably make managing session results easier, as they won't show up as separate sessions in my database when they never were to begin with. This is useful for session flow review at a later time.
3. If I really want to see how I'm doing in only HU situations, I can (and do) easily make a filter for HU hands. If it's so easy to see how I'm doing in HU games via a simple filter, I don't see why it should be so difficult to forcefully un-force the HU hands to be 6max hands.
I'm not knocking those who enjoy this feature, but a preference to let the user decide for himself would be great. And to give a little more insight into how I see this, if I were playing at an actual HU table offered by the site, I would absolutely keep the hands as HU sessions in my database.
