Assuming you have large enough sample sizes, the MC result is actually the correct one here because it considers card removal from the folded ranges (UTG+1 to SB). This spot is NOT only dependent on UTG's range but also the players in between.

If the players after UTG call with more than 0% then their folding ranges will skew the card distribution, ie if it folds to the BB then there are likely more high cards than usual in the deck.

Set the calling ranges for UTG+1 to SB all to 0% and lock the opening UTG range, the result should then match the math mode.

Yeah, it popped into my head, so I deleted my post, lol

But still appreciate your fast response, thanks a lot.

I have another question which I'm not going to delete if you don't mind

Is FGS as a model applicable to ChipEV in theory? E.g. when the blinds are coming to us, we are gonna have EV loss.

I look forward to a broad reply like your previous one. Thanks a lot for the support.

Yes, you can use FGS for chipEV situations, it will make some difference e.g. in spots where the UTG player is very short-stacked. For HU you shouldn't use FGS at all.

Q: How to calculate spots with more than 3 active players?

First make sure you have the latest version, Help: About: Installation Details should show a version number starting with 2.0.

Then you need to select Monte Carlo mode and change the maximum number of active players to 4 or higher. This can be configured in the "Hand Mode" line, bottom table of the first page of the hand setup.

Make sure you read the update notes if this is the first time you are using the MC mode, it works slightly different than the regular engine:

(Again, to avoid confusion: Was replying to a deleted post. Guys, please stop deleting questions after they are answered, it will remove the context and other users won't be able to benefit from the posts.)

Hi, I am having a hard time to export partypoker hands to Holdemresources. PT4 reads the hand history what Partypoker provides however when I export them and try to load into HR it does not shows any hand. It works perfectly fine with pokerstars hands. Any advise what should I do?

Please check if you are on version 2.0, instructions are posted above. The new PP format was only recently added, maybe you are on an older version.

Hello,
If I want to setup bounty calculations for normal PKO (50% bounty) I set Instant(%) on 50, but do I set bounties for full amount or only for half of that amount that is won immediately upon elimination?
HoldemResources Calculator [HRC] Quote

You need to enter the full bounty amount, the specified percentage split is then applied to that amount.

e.g. if the bounty is set to 10$ and you specify 50% immediate payout then the eliminating player gets 5$ directly and the remaining 5$ are added to his bounty.

Hi there,

I can't find a way to change the hand depth for FGS in HRC. (This is in the trial version.) Is it possible to change this? If not, am I correct in assuming that FGS uses depth = 1 as standard?

The default is "Auto", you can find the corresponding rules at Window: Preferences: FGS: Depth Rules.

You can also manually select the depth in the hand setup dialog, select FGS as equity model and then click on the "Model Options" line.

Can't subscribe through PayPal, "Things don't appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later" pops up after I enter all of the details and click next.

It's not a general problem as far as I can tell. Maybe try again in a few hours or use a different payment method. You can always use bank transfer for the 18 month license if nothing else works for you. Alternatively please try contacting FastSpring directly for assistance with processing the payment.

Hello , sorry for my English. The Monte Carlo mode is especially useful for spots where more than 3 players might be actively involved in the pot and also supports card bunching, which is mainly significant for strategies of the later positions when folded to on a full table while Classic Math Engine restricts the calculated game: No more than 3 active players are allowed, and passive card removal is not considered . It can be argued that The Monte Carlo mode an improved model Classic Math Engine, but limited to a sampling error or its advantage in calculating situations with more than 3 players might be actively involved in the pot?

Monte Carlo mode is preferable over the default Math engine with respect to accuracy, as it accounts for all card removal effects. However, you need to be very careful to get sufficiently large samples. I'd only suggest MC mode for more experienced users as there is more room for user errors, beginners should start out with the default Math engine.

Hi,

I'm new to HRC but tt seems like I've done something I don't know how to undo.

When I'd run an advanced hand before, it seemed like it would give me optimal ranges. However, I tried to edit one of those ranges once and now everytime I run an advanced hand it just seems to want to run 100% of each players range, giving me absolutely no data at all.

All I get is 100%, Any two.

WTH did I do?

I can provide more info if needed. Thanks,

If you want to calculate all ranges automatically then simply skip the last page of the "Advanced Hand" setup dialog.

The dialog page where you can select a specific line is used to reduce the size of the calculated game tree, but the ranges for the selected actions need to be set manually. Simply leave that page empty without selecting a specific line and hit "Finish".

If this is just a series of heads-up KO matches then you can calculate them using ChipEV, there are no ICM effects going on in that case. If it works differently then please post or link the structure details.

@Huaba
If you are using the latest version then go to Tools: Structure Manager, select the base category and then use the export button in the toolbar to save the structures into a file. You can then import that file on your other computer, again using the structure manager.

If you are using an older version of HRC then please check the link below:
