Okay, I did have one misclick today when one urgent table popped up in front of another. Hopefully someone can figure out a way to get around the XBox prerequisite so I can try it without Table Ninja.

So what kind of sexual favors does one have to do to get on the beta list?
05-19-2010 , 01:35 AM
PM me, Sly. I'll do what I can to get the XBOX emulator running for you. I just downloaded and poked around for a few minutes and it doesn't look too bad. There may even be a pre-programmed preset for your specific controller.

I'm not trying to step on HAY GUYS' toes here, but from what I gather the purpose of the private beta is to make sure everything is stable before releasing the software to a larger group. The good news is, Hjälper has needed very few updates over the course of the last year and has been extremely reliable to the small group that have used it. The changelog is almost laughably small. HG approached me, said here check this out, and I literally just kept the readme.txt up to familiarize myself with the controls while playing. Everything worked immediately.

Back then, the controls and most preferences were hard-coded, and some of the functions had to be run separately. It's pretty much like he gave me Hjälper, said here use this, oh and btw get used to the current controls because I'm not changing it! That day, I ordered a 360 controller from Amazon, had it shipped overnight, and I've been playing with it since. It took less than a full session to adapt to not using a mouse/keyboard anymore.

Now he's created a GUI, giving the user a chance to set his own bindings and preferences, and enable/disable different modules, and wrapped everything up into a tidy little package (read: just one .exe). There's other little improvements here and there, but that's the gist of it.

tl;dr. My point is that once we can determine that everything is still as stable as it has been over the course of the past year, you'll see a public beta available. I wouldn't be surprised if that's less than a week from now. We just need to let HG finish up some final coding and tweaks, squash a couple small bugs, and you'll find a fully functional beta that you can download from the Hjälper website.

The xbox controller emulator works great, although it was ez for me to setup since my controller was listed in the presets.

Just be sure to put x360ce.exe in the same directory as Hjälper.exe before running it. Once it's running check the bottom dropdown box to see if the urs is in the preset list. If so, select it then click save. If not you'll prob have to set it up yourself.

I only tested with one table tonight to make sure the controller worked fine. I'll grind a session tomorrow and report back.

Edit: also I think you'll need to restart hjalper after you setup the 360 emulator before it'll take effect

Ya I understand, I am just excited. As someone who gets lag from playing 25 tables w/ ninja. But as a small stakes player I understand I am not the main audience for either of these programs.

I ordered my xbox controller yesterday

On the contrary, you're absolutely Hjälper's target audience. A multitabler is a multitabler. When it comes to having a smooth and painless playing experience, the stakes don't matter.

need anymore testers would love to help
05-19-2010 , 07:32 PM
I got beta hjalper and I... jizzed in my pants. If you are testing it out on low stakes make sure you do it on the real money games as I couldn't get it to work properly with play money. I just finished a 4 table set of $16s and got comfortable with it and I'm so excited to use it. I think I'm going to be able to jump right in to 25 tabling sets with the xbox controller, will report back.

If you search through software forums it explains xbox controller. For wireless, just google for a xbox wireless usb adapter.
05-19-2010 , 10:59 PM
for wireless you need the microsoft wireless adapter (it's called crossfire in the UK)

only they stopped selling it on its own and package it with a controller now with a cost of more than both combined, typical M$
05-19-2010 , 11:04 PM
ah okay, ty for the answers
but np if im getting in the beta im ordering a new controller with overnight delivery
worth it!

Load up 33, you weenie! IMO Hjälper with a controller should allow any competent multitabler switching from another laggy setup to increase his number of tables by 25% with minimal impact on ROI. (Jecht disagrees with me on this...we need more data points!)

Über excited now!
Yeah, it interfaces directly with the hardware. No intermediaries like xmapper, etc. required. That's personally one of the reasons I really like it—one less component that can malfunction.

To use a wireless one, you have to get the "Microsoft Xbox 360™ Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows®" which apparently has been discontinued, but you can still find them online...just marked up bit from their original price. I'm going to speculate that it's included with the "Xbox 360™ Wireless Controller for Windows®", but I don't know for sure.

Note that the "Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit" does not work for this. Also, the white corded controller is now below $25 on Amazon.com.

Anyway, people have made it clear they're not wild about it only working with the 360 controllers, so as soon as I get a couple bugs fixed and ship a public beta, the next thing I'll do is add in keyboard/mouse support, so everyone can use it with their favorite pieces of hardware, via xmapper or whatever. Have to ship it with existing features before I can start adding new ones, you know?

(I can't promise it for sure, but I think I can get a version with keyboard/mouse support out the door early next week.)

Edit: lol in the time I took to type this out, Dale already answered the question.
Edit2: The wireless adapter is $19.37 with free shippo at DealExtreme. I can't personally vouch for them, but they're legit AFAIK.

Also, I need to make it clear that Hjälper is usable, as is, without the Xbox controller. You can use all the other features, like the timebank clicker, focus fixer, timeout helper, debustifier, etc. and keep using your mouse or existing setup for betting, switching through tables, etc.

Everything that's checked in this screenshot operates independently from the 360 controller and will be available in the first public beta.

Ill do beta testing if more is needed.
05-20-2010 , 01:06 PM

05-20-2010 , 01:41 PM
Looks incred, looking forward to public release!
05-20-2010 , 03:10 PM

That's the plan. Haven't made any decisions on costs or how to license. I need to see what people think after I get it out publicly.

I read the first two pages and then skipped to the end. Does this have support for FTP or stars strictly?
05-21-2010 , 04:23 AM
98% sure it's only stars. ftp has some very serious issues about focus stealing that are far worse than stars.

Stars only. FTP has focus issues? Potential new market‽‽

Jesus, Sly. HG and I were just talking about you and this video in IRC. Neither of us can figure out how you haven't cracked. This is exactly the sort of thing Hjälper is meant to remedy. Wow. Talk about an extreme example. Comparing that to the 105 tabling is like night and day.
