TL;DR: This keyboard app's privacy policy page has been deleted, which opens up the possibility of them gathering any sensitive data you type on your device with any keyboard, as well as location data, photos, and other personal data.
Not trying to imply anything is being done inappropriately here, but it seems important to mention that it is
possible given what's stated by Apple below. When clicking on the privacy policy for this keyboard app from the app store, it goes to a deleted google doc page. This is a little troubling given these excerpts from Apple in Third Party Keyboards under Settings:
Quote:
These keyboards can access all of the data you type, including bank account and credit card numbers, street addresses, as well as other personal and sensitive information. These keyboards may also access nearby text or data, which is useful for improving autocorrect functionality.
Note that the above says it has access to all data that you type, not just the data typed using this keyboard. It can even gather nearby data.
And the following excerpt is concerning since I didn't see a way to enable less than full access. All I can tell is the keyboard is enabled, so I assume it has full access.
Quote:
If you enable Full Access, developers are permitted to access, collect and transmit the data you type. In addition, if the third party application containing the keyboard has you permission to access location, photos, or other personal data, the keyboard can also collect and transmit that information to the keyboard developer's servers. If you disable Full Access for a third party keyboard, and then re-enable it, the keyboard's developer may be able to access, collect and transmit what was typed while the network access was disabled.
And note that it said it may be able to access data that was typed even when it was disabled, which lends further credence to the idea that it can access what is typed even with the standard keyboard.
And since there is no privacy policy available, it's not really possible to follow this:
Quote:
If you use a third party keyboard, you are subject to the keyboard developer's terms, privacy policy and practices. You should review the terms, privacy policies and practices of such keyboard apps and services to understand how they use your data and other information prior to use.
I understand that this is a free keyboard that may be considered in beta development, but that doesn't lessen the need to know what data is being gathered, if any.
