Hey, we consider card removal during solving. After the preflop solution is solved, the ranges are displayed as a whole and without card removal, the same for the frequencies. AFAIK all solvers work like this and there isn't any way to calculate the frequencies or ranges with card removal. Please note that just putting BTN vs UTG ranges is not enough. You have to consider the full tree, where the rest of the players played too and folded their respective ranges which would also affect the other players (BTN and UTG in this example) ranges.

After the latest update, it appears that we can no longer access the Complex sims. These were by far my favorites. Is there still a way to access these? And if not, why? Thanks!

Hi, we have decided to hide Basic and Complex solutions temporarily. You can turn them on if you go to Settings>Appearance>Others>Show legacy solutions. We hid them because the Basic are the oldest ones and we now offer better solutions (General / Simple). For Complex solutions, there were a few corrupted spots, so we hid them until they got fixed.

I have been using the gtotrainer and am enjoying it a lot!

However I noticed your ranges are very different from others that I used in the past. I am looking at the spot 8max MTT 40bb LJ open button 3bet and LJ strategy.

Your software suggests calling down to K5s J8s and calling even 79s and most ATo. This seems very loose to me, folding only 20.7%.

One of your competitors for preflop ranges, preflop guru are much tighter in this spot.

Are you sure that your ranges are optimal? How can I know that your ranges are optimal and others are not?

Hello, We solved this with MonkerSolver using the most accurate settings. You can read more about our solving process here.

How wide LJ calls largely comes down to the size of the 3bet relative to the open. We’ve found, through testing, that BTN prefers a rather small 3bet size here, and as a result, LJ calls wider.
Many hands in LJ’s range are very close to breakeven facing this 3bet. So small changes to the solver inputs can drastically affect the calling range.
For example, reducing the ante, increasing the 3bet, reducing the size of the open, or disallowing flats forcing BTN to use a more linear 3bet/fold strategy could all tighten LJ’s calling range.

The solution is optimal within the subgame provided to the solver. If you change the inputs, you get different outputs. You can also read more on this topic here.

If I already have PIO solver with GTO trainer, why should I subscribe to GTO wizard? I just find the solutions to be too complex with all the different bet sizes on each street. With PIO I can solve for just one size on the flop and 2 on turn and maybe 3 on the river. That makes the strategy much easier to to implement in practice.

They have options for simple solutions as well. Lots of different solves available.

I have Pio Edge. But I use wizard more because its so much faster since the solves are already done.


If you are pretty good with Pio and don't mind the extra time, wizard will likely be less useful (though still awesome to use all solvers). But if you want to be faster as well as maybe not the best with doing your own solves, its a no brainer.

Why are these outcomes different on same stack sizing options ranges etc, if its solved it must be the same outcome across all solvers right?

No GTO Solver that I know solves down to 0. Being approximations, my guess is you can have a lot of different solutions that reach close to or the same dEV. Btw, is the true GTO solution unique in poker or can you have 2 or more?

I think I´ve seen a video (by tombos if I´m not mistaken) where different solvers gave different outputs within the same range.

Maybe nodelock the solution from one solver into the other and test if it stays within the same dEV?

I think I used some wrong terminology. I meant, if two solvers give different strategies, it´s interesting to check the EVs by nodelocking one into the other solver and see how it reexploits it, if he does, or if solver 2 ends up with the same no-nodelocked strategy if you lock the same strategy used by solver 1 etc.

My post still reads a bit confusing, hopefully you guys understood what I meant here. It´s a shame I have only one solver currently (GTO+) and no GTOWizard sub to do this exercise myself.

Trying out GTOWizard for the first time. When I hit fold in practice mode I sometimes get the badge with the simple score; other times I get more information in a table. I can’t tell what is triggering this? (Using Safari on iPhone)

Anyway, looks pretty helpful. Might try it for a month when I have some spare time.

i thought fold was almost ev of 0 (and in most cases i see ev for fold = 0 in gto wizard), how come it sometimes is a negative ev?

GTOWizard has recently implemented a new blocker tool, a big update with plenty of new functionalities compared to their previous blocker score utility. Blockers are something I want to understand better. Of course, blockers will only sometimes play a significant role in many cases or none at all. But still, learning to think in terms of blockers will develop a deeper understanding of your deciding making, and sometimes they will play a huge role; for instance, when the ranges are very narrow
