Weird. I tried replicating your tree (assuming 100bb stacks, he opens to pot, we 3bet to 10, etc.) and I had the EV in your picture at -43.86 so I have to think you did something wrong but not sure. I added in blinds and also noticed that in your example the BU (or whoever's in position) should probably be the one shipping due to previous actions but not sure if that matters.

Okay, thanks for helping. I skipped the foreplay in the hand and just made a scenario whereby there was $34 in the pot via game properties. I set my stack to 90 and his stack to 77. Perhaps that is where things went wrong. I'll check via your method later as i am now at work.

Ya, running a full set of events gives the correct Math answers but entering an artificial situation with juice and adjusted stack sizes does something weird. If anyone knows why that is it would put my mind at ease but regardless my spreadsheet checks out with CREV now. ty ty for help.

Hi SimaoMacaco,

If you send your savefile where the situation is unclear to you to support I'll have a look at it for you.

Cheers,

Scylla

Please Scylla confirm that's not generally true. I often (or rather, usually) start entering a scenario from the flop or turn, ignoring the earlier streets and padding the pot accordingly.

OKay, ty for quick response.

The issue is to do with juicing and that it makes the effective stacks a bit different.

Shoving another 90 over a 4b of 23 from an initial 3b of 10 has my risk at 90. Juicing the pot loses the 13 extra dollars needed to equal the 4b total. Suffice to say that the EV tool is correct and the user is not

No worries.
It works just fine.

Bought this software yesterday, screwed it up today

1. Is there an FAQ for Cardrunners-EV?

2. I shut the software down earlier today (running as a user with admin privileges on Windows XP Home.)

Afterwards, I noticed that the program still appeared in Task Manager, and was using >100mb of memory. I therefore killed the process (using right-click->end process).

Now, when I try to start it (either via the start menu or by going to C:\Program Files\CardRunners\EV calculator in Windows Explorer and double-clicking on CardrunnersEV.exe), I get the splash screen saying:
"checking online for new version"
then
"Starting Cardrunners Ev Calculator
This window will close in 5 second".

Then nothing. If you look in task manager, the process appears for the duration of the splash screen, and then disappears again.

Hi Slowjoe,

Please rightclick the icon and select "run as administrator" from the options.
That should solve it.
If not, please delete the file "currentversion.txt" from the main directory (C:/program files/Cardrunners/EV calculator) and again, rightclick and select "run as administrator".

Sorry for my late reply.
I usually get e-mail notification of posts in this thread, but it appears something went wrong.

The download server seems to be up and running.
You may want to rightclick the link and save to disk first.

I have noticed though that Norton's SONAR seems to be a bit overly careful in allowing the program to run, while Norton's scan itself doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Also, www.virustotal.com scores 0 out of 39 hits, so there's no problem there. Should you have SONAR, you may need to set an exception for the installation directory. I'll see if there's anything I can do about the false positive.

HEy scylla, i was working on a preflop squeeze poisiotn, similar to the QQexample in the tutorial but i noticed in that example the SB and BB are excluded. Here was the situation i was working on is Hijack raises, CO calls and hero shoves on BT, where SB and BB are yet to act. So, for the first decision tree, i adjust each villain's calling range based on another villain calling? Then work on the ranges of the other trees as another villain folds? I hope i finally understand this program

FYI: With the last update, McAfee removed CR-EV as a malicious program.

I was able to tell McAfee to restore it. I've been getting CR-EV updates without McAfee interference for a while so this was a surprise.

Ok, thanks for the report. I'll see if there's anything I can do about it. The protection software people weren't able to reproduce the SONAR problem and virustotal doesn't report anything either, so I just asumed it was some sort of fluke. I'll mail them again.

Hi Dowsun,

Other than some people calling all ins with "all hands" this seems to work fine.

Cheers,

Scylla

I see in the tutorials that when you raise, it appears "raise to xxx" and in my software it appears "raise xxx" and it displays only the amount raised, not the total bet. Is there anyway I can change it to the way it´s in the tutorials?

No, it's the total bet in the software.
Could you send the savefile so I can have a look?

Sorry dude, forget about all that. I misread the bet amount. It really doesn´t say "raise to" as it was in the tutorial example (which was from StoxPoker era and I believe must be an older version) but it´s the total amount as you said.

The -EV one is the value of small blind's strategy prior to posting his $5 blind.
So, although the EV of the shove is $2.23, he needed to invest a $5 blind to get into this spot, losing -$2.77 for the whole situation.

However, please note that strategy EV only makes sense if you enter a strategy for sb's entire range and not just a specific hand.
