Looks like you were able to run fpdb and click on auto import? Have you used fpdb before? You could try deleting the database - it should be in the same place as the log folder. Just delete (or rename) the "database" folder and run fpdb again.

Yep, it definitely will not work on anything before 10.6, and probably not on anything < 10.9.

If you're feeling adventurous you could try installing the dependencies with macports and running from source.

My DB/HUD has worked fine for months, but recently has quit importing my hands. It still runs the database that I have, and the HUD window pops up when I click auto-import, but no new hands are coming in and the HUD itself does not display.

I'm getting error messages in my Fpdb Log window, but I'm unsure how to copy/paste them. Any help?

Try highlighting the error messages and clicking that "Copy to Clipboard" button.

There are more if that would be helpful, but they pretty much all look like that.

Edit-those are from the fpdb log tab. This is the HUD errors tab:

I haven't tried this, but it should work if I'm reading the code correctly:

In your HUD_config.xml file, find the <supported_games> tag. Under that should be a bunch of <game> tags, one for each variant. Change the aux property of games you don't want a HUD for to "". For example, if you didn't want a HUD for razz:

Before
Code:
        <game aux="stud_mucked, Classic_HUD" game_name="razz">
            <game_stat_set game_type="all" stat_set="stud_default"/>
        </game>
After
Code:
        <game aux="" game_name="razz">
            <game_stat_set game_type="all" stat_set="stud_default"/>
        </game>

To turn off the hud just click "Close this HUD" in the fpdb menu on the table.

If you want to prevent the hands from importing entirely, find the variant in the HUD_config.xml and comment it out.

Example:
If you don't want to import Razz hands convert
Code:
        <game aux="stud_mucked, Classic_HUD" game_name="razz">
            <game_stat_set game_type="all" stat_set="stud_default"/>
        </game>
to:
Code:
<!--
        <game aux="stud_mucked, Classic_HUD" game_name="razz">
            <game_stat_set game_type="all" stat_set="stud_default"/>
        </game>
-->
I have not tried this myself, so test first!
Also, be sure you are editing the correct copy of HUD_config.xml

You should write your settings for HUD in HUD_config.xml instead of using the menu.
FPDB HUD doesn't work for Rush (as for Zoom).

HI.

Does anybody ,or maybe the software conceptors themselves, can confirm me or not if this software is still under active development ?

I am asking that because, even if the "core" features are awesome (Hands parsings for a lot of games, stats compiling, HUD on Linux AND Window) and i have a great respect for all the job done , some features are really missing for in order to use it every days instead of commercial software (HM for me).

I am talking about :
-more user friendly interface to customize the HUD (because understanding the XML config file is tricky for non software engineers )
-more user friendly interface to display and customize the stats grid or even create reports.

In fact, i am a French Software engineer making software for the Aeronautic Industry in Toulouse. And i would be interested in implementings theses features in the sofware. For me but also for all the community.

Bests regards

Hello, FPDB Creators.
I am working on OS X 10.10 (Yosemite). According to your installation tutorial (http://fpdb.wikidot.com/install:macosx) I should use Python 2.5. But terminal shows me error message that Yosemite doesn't support version 2.5.
So, I try use 2.7.
Then typed all this commands

sudo port install python27
sudo port install python_select
sudo python select python27
sudo port install py27-gtk
sudo port install py27-matplotlib
sudo port install py27-mysql

And try to run FPDB

sudo python run_fpdb.py

FPDB shows me this error:

What should I do? Does FPDB work with OS X 10.10?

Oupps, according to [GT]Colin, i forgot that it can also run on Mac

So making this software more 'user friendly' can be a good way to expand its use to novice users.

I've been doing a little bit of work on it recently. Activity has been low for a while.

The problem with 'user-friendly' things like this is that they can be quite tedious to implement and if you know how to implement them, you don't need them, so there's very little incentive to do so.

And try to run FPDB

sudo python run_fpdb.py
Side note 2: you don't really want to use sudo with this command.

You have a few options. It looks like you downloaded the 0.40.5 release source code?

OPTION 1 - make that release work (HUD will probably be unusable):

Code:
sudo port install py27-beautifulsoup
To install the beautifulsoup dependency. This is used in a couple of tournament summary parsers. Then run fpdb directly like this to skip the check for pylab (which is imported by the tournament graph tab, so you won't be able to use that):

Code:
python pyfpdb/fpdb.pyw
You may need to manually run an X server first, I'm not sure how 10.10 does things:

Code:
sudo port install xorg-xserver
startx
And then tell fpdb to use that X session:

Code:
DISPLAY=":0" python pyfdpb/fpdb.pyw
Hope this helps, let me know if I missed a step and you get stuck, I'll try to sort you out.

OPTION 2: You could download the source for the Qt port I've been working on. This eliminates the need for an X server, and provides you with a working HUD + native-looking GUI. It's here: https://github.com/philroberts/FPDB-for-OSX/releases

Most of the instructions from above still apply (except the X server stuff), but you need Qt instead of GTK:

Code:
sudo port install py27-pyqt5
And the mac python interface for HUD stuff:

Code:
sudo port install py27-pyobjc-quartz
OPTION 3: You could download the mac binary from the link above and see if it works for you. It should be self-contained, no other software required.
