For the longest time I've been dealing with stars freezing and or crashing issues. I previously though it was due to stars because every second client release worked while the next one had issues. Then I thought it must be starscaption and currently I believe it is both. So basically I mostly (pretty much always) have the freezing issue whenever new table(s) open. Mostly it runs ok albeit it almost always lags a bit when tables are opening. Sometimes it is even very snappy which is all just weird af.

Sometimes and with some versions of the client usually during peak stars hours starscaption as well as pokerstars client become unresponsive. It freezes for multiple seconds and this is also where you in the past got "please restart your client" thing at pokerstars. What do you think? Can stars lagging cause starscaption to somehow become unresponsive? Its weird that 1. It seems to mostly happen when traffic is high and 2. If client freezes every time I have tables about to open. I think it has happened without anything opening which makes it even weirder but 99% tables are about to open when it freezes.

Other than that if I set custom layout to resize table to the correct size natively and untick windows10 gap correction thing will the manager still touch the table size somehow before putting it to grid? I was suspicious of the instant table resizing in particular and tried to first resize the table with custom layout setting and then move to starscaption grid but it had no effect to the issues. I use the smallest available size for the tables.

123AA, what kind of games do you play?
If you play cash games and you have these options enabled, then try to turn off Update lobby... there and check if it will work better.


Update lobby... resizes the lobby in order to initiate a redraw, and this creates additional load on the poker client.
I have no idea what else could be the reason of freezes.

I'm not sure it will make a difference, although you can try.

I Do not play cash. Tournaments. Lots of them. I don't have any lobbies that starscaption interact with. I am convinced that resizing must be the issue. I actually f up the initial test so have to try again. So just to be clear. I set up the table x pixels natively via this utility. Does starscaption have to reconfigure anything if the table is the exact same x pixels inside starscaption table manager 2 settings? If it has to reconfigure absolutely anything could we have a setting that will actually not manage table resizing at all. So it will just move lobbies to the slots? And yes I am aware that win10 corrections and so on affect the size so I have all of that turned off. But apart from the visible settings is there anything else going on?

123AA, StarsCaption uses SetWindowPos function to a place table to a slot. It is used both to move the table and to change its size. I don’t know how the poker client will react to this if the table size do not change.

If you think that this is the reason, then you can try temporarily not using TM2 to arrange tables and check it (you can try to use poker client methods for this).

Thanks. I will play around and see. By the way, last time I crashed mid session couple of things happened that have never happened before. 1. There was no restart your client message pokerstars just vanished suddenly. 2. After re-opening the client the table manager did do its job but the rest of starscaption did not. Hud layouts, modded themes and everything else was missing. Basically it put tables into place but did not work otherwise. After restarting caption it did work as expected again. How does this sound to you? I somehow recall that when I had crashes before this kind of thing did not happen and when the client was restarted caption worked as expected. And usually if I re-open the client (without crashes) leaving starscaption running it works as expected so just wondering what was different with the latest crash(es) then compared to just opening and closing the client from starscaption perspective.

123AA, I can imagine this.
In most of cases StarsCaption will work after client restart, but it some cases it will not work and you will have to restart it too.

WSOP MI & NV / NJ merged this AM and we got a software update. From my end, nearly everything in 888caption seems to be working well still. We did get a graphical facelift on the new client as well. It looks like the full "notes' color coding modification in 888caption doesn't work anymore.

Below are examples. In the "old", the whole namebox is color coded. In the new, it's not. If this is easy to fix sometime, it'd be amazing

Hi, regards to my earlier struggles I think if table manager 2 could have a slight delay placing the tables to the slots it would take away some of the burden for the client. In my experience the client has bigbig performance troubles with tables opening and esp multiple ones at once. Would it be possible to add simple modifiable timer before setwindowpos does its job? Don't really mind if the table sits idle few secs after opening if that will put less stress to the client. There is a delay before any game play starts anyway.

Unfortunately I don't have an account in any new 32bit client (four US WSOP clients and 888poker Ontario).
By this reason it's very difficult for me to make new releases for these clients, because 888 doesn't allow to open tables without login (PokerStars allows it, for example).

Filled notes made for 64bit clients in 888Caption64, but unfortunately I don't see an easy way to do this for new tables in 32bit clients.

If I had a way to create at least a playmoney account or open tables without a login, then I would do support pretty quickly.
But doing this blindly is extremely difficult, even if some of the users assist me.

Try to write a log for me if you can, I'll check what could be wrong. To do it:
1. Turn on Options / Logging / Betscript log
2. Restart 888Caption
3. Make this window to appear
4. Send me 888Caption.log and 888Caption.ini files from 888Caption folder

Which version of caption are you using with the new software? I tried the old alt version and the newest 64 bit version and nothing is working

888Caption2 worked and it has an auto update option. It's not 64-bit or alt. If someone took your screen name, maybe it will cause a problem

lowkey12345, for WSOP client you have to use the latest version of 888Caption2 (it is 888Caption2 v2.78d now).
If you had a license and your screenname has been changed, then please give me your old and new License IDs and I'll update it.

Stars MI/NJ had an update today. StarsCaption keeps crashing - seems like something to do with the update, as it was working as normal last night.

Whatever is causing the issue only happens once I am dealt into a table. Before that it operates normally (which doesn't help - but could help solve the bug)

I'm working on it, but it seems StarsCaption v1.16f most likely will work for you right now (it seems some changes made in 68000 client versions are reverted in 69000 versions)

Sets the time between detection and initialization of a table in milliseconds.
In previous versions, the table was picked up by StarsCaption immediately after detection, now you can set a delay of up to three seconds here.
If you experience lags in the poker client when opening a table, try to increase this value (the default is 0).

Please try to set 1000 in Options / Table init delay (in StarsCaption v1.17b), it will be 1 second delay.
