Copying this from my blog...
Hey Everyone!
I've had a lot of Mojo-testers who have asked me for a tutorial on setting custom time ranges. I made a few gifs to hopefully help you guys make your own custom TimeMojo setup. This is what I use while I am playing, so you may prefer different colors or timing blocks, but hopefully this will get you started. First of all, if you open the Time Mojo software client, you will see Mojo and About on the top. Click "Mojo", then "Settings".
Next, a box will pop up titled "Settings", and at the top you will see Time Range Appearance. If you drag your mouse across that pink block, you will see the seconds increase as you drag to the right. The left side is 0.00s, and the right is 30.00s.
Now, drag your mouse to the desired seconds, and RIGHT click, to bring up options. Here, you can Change Color, Split, or Reset to default. Try clicking split at around 3 seconds.
Below, you can see the different time intervals I use while playing poker. For some, this may be too precise, and others may prefer to have more detailed. This is a description on how I view time in online poker games.
- Snap bet is < 3.00s (requires 0 thought, or was a premeditated decision. On a wet flop, a player would consider ways to play his hand if he had a massive draw, or a made monster)
- Quick Bet is 3.00s - 4.50s (close to a snap bet, and still may be a snap if multitabling)
- Hesitation Bet is 4.50s - 6.50s (Indication of a player second guessing himself, or considering different ways to play the hand)
- Medium-Long bet is 6.50s - 8.50s (Opponent is considering different ways to play the hand, possible indication of strength on the flop, if the board is wet)
- Long bet is 8.50s - 10.50s (This player isn't tanking, he is confused, calculating, or considering ways to play a hand. This could also be a premeditated tank, as someone who wants to intentionally tank will not do it for greater than 10 seconds or so.)
- Tank bet is > 10.50s (preflop, this probably indicates a distracted player. Postflop, in a large pot, the player may be very confused)
We will elaborate on these concepts in much further detail in the near future. I just wanted to give you guys a base to start creating your own tells.
You should also play very careful attention to what your color selections are. In color theory, we were taught that colors have implied time. I decided to make a very simple to understand palette, the rainbow. Here, red is the most aggressive color, therefore the fastest. Purple is the least aggressive color, so I made it the slowest. Usually, players will indicate aggression with red in their HUD, and green with passiveness. You can apply the same concept to time, in whatever way suits best for your playing style.
Remember, if you do something funky, you can always reset your layout, and reset the time colors or split locations. Feel free to comment below on split ideas, color palette ideas, and how time affects your poker game.
Another note, using darker colors will make the time more visible. The colors I used here get a little lost with white text, so try dark blue, dark green, etc.
Good luck developing timing tells! And let me know how it goes. I am always available for troubleshooting and strategy discussion.
